  • Today Jenny is taking a look at an N7 locomotive with a premium sound chip installed - and you can pick one up for almost the cost of the chip on its own!
    PLEASE NOTE: the cheap source of these was from Rails. They have now sold out. The below link is to another retailer who still have stock, but at a different price.

    Hello Jenny ,nice review again. This loco is a steal for that price !
    You buy a ESU sound V4 and you get a loco for free.
    I glue "real" coal on the existing load using matt clear varnish, applied very thick.

    Hi Jenny, they must have put the Prices up this morning. Hard to find the sound version at that price from the link.
    Very tempted! Thanks for the great review!👍👍👍👍

      Similar here - on one site it was £164.50 plus shipping then I refreshed it about 20 mins later and it had increased to £178 plus shipping. I found a last one at £169 incl shipping from another online shop. Seems the reviews are pushing the prices up.

    If you think that the plastic coal looks amateurish, you should see the plastic coal in my 1993 model of a Bulleid West County Class!! It’s all too obvious!!

    That a love loco and really hope we get one on in GER blue in the OXFORD RAIL 2021 ANNOUNCEMENTS. Great review Jennifer E. Kirk and keep safe in these hard times.

    The newly reconstructed 5F is in GER blue and black and is number 999. I can’t give you the link for the Holden 5F Group, but look them up on Google and you’ll find this locomotive.

    I have not been to your channel in several months and I was blown away by the state of your attic layout from the early days. Wow! I looks so nice and detailed. I must go back and see how you did it all. These sound boards sound interesting, do you think it could work for my 1950s S Scale American Flyer engines. We are very hard pressed to find nice sound for less than $100 US Dollars. Could this be an option???? Take care so good so see and hear the update and loco news. Dennis in Virginia

    I would love an N7 but think that Oxford not including a BR numberplate on the smokebox door really detracts from the face of the model. The face can make or break a model

    Excellent review. Excellent score. Excellent close up cinematography, but do please dust the model down well first please. An unused face powder brush makes a great dust removing tool

    Hi Jenny, nice review but I think you have your prices mixed up. The link in the video description is to a early logo N7 Dcc ready at £98.The sound fitted Locomotive is £187. An esu locksound 5, I recall was about £110 ish. Still it's a nice Locomotive all the same. Best regards Dave.

      @@JenniferEKirk Hi, thanks for explaining that, it's no wonder the shop sold out so quickly at that price. Maybe they didnt realise quite what they were selling!

    Couple of points, there would be inside Stephenson’s Motion. Yes those brackets at the front are for destination (name)board. An N7 in GER blue would be prototypically correct for the Liverpool St West Side pilot Engine in BR days the number escapes me.

    • @michael32A
      @michael32A 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. Sorry, you’re misremembering two separate engines as one. The GER blue loco was the little J69 numbered 68619 acting as pilot on Liverpool Street's east-side where I think commuter services terminated, while stock for Norwich and Cambridge bound services on the west-side was piloted by an equally famous - always _immaculately_ presented - N7 in BR lined black, numbered 69614.
      Unusually, N7 locos had Walschaerts valve-gear sandwiched between the frames like GWR Kings - significantly better for acceleration than Stephenson’s (better suited for long, slow freight runs, even if it slowly went out of fashion altogether) on the point-to-point sprints required for intensive suburban work on the ‘Jazz’ services, just as the GER chose air brakes, which release instantly, unlike vacuum brakes which take about 10 seconds to fully release. "Every little helps!"
      Take Care, Stay Safe

    You ever see one of those locomotives you want but would be a limiting purpose to get? Thats the N7 for me lol. Its such a good model, and a great value sound one, but I already have a locomotive for trains into London (b12) and another one on my wishlist)(class 21) so I really need to mix things up lol. They werent used on freight duties that often right? Shame there isnt any quat art stock in rtr form, wouldve looked stunning with an n7.

      @bendavis6121 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really hope we get an N7 in GER blue and a black Holden 5F in GER blue and wartime grey one. I was like to see a model one on the new build (67218 in GER blue) as it would help out www.holdenf5.co.uk/ trust in these hard times. I hope to see in the Oxford Rail 2021future announcements. But keep safe Madonsteamrailway in these hard times.

    The grey one is in the GER Photographic Grey wartime livery. I’m trying to obtain one of these.

    Hi Jennifer,
    Nice review I put in an order for this right after Sams Trains review of the war version (good review) and yours (bad review) in Jan 2019 I received my one in Dec 2020 and unfortunately it had to go straight back to Hattons as it would not negotiate one point on my layout (and no there not that bad) the replacement is ok and I think the fault was a twisted chassis as I did a test on my glass cooker top and it rocked so as you can imagine I was a bit disappointed so I do not think all the problems have been eradicated although as usual the retailer was as helpful as they always are, I hope you bringing it back after two years will help my video out on Friday (29th) to get a few more views so thanks for that. I would think with your large layout you could enter the new challenge from America namely #uncleWilmerchallenge which is to run a single locomotive with as many wagons as it will without them derailing etc around your layout a few have had a go at it and I seem to remember you doing a similar run with your Beyer Garete (not sure of the spelling) which at the present time would win easily and if you replicated it would make another video for you and get more YT's to try the challenge having done it myself it was great fun and I have cheated and done a second one also. I hope you are well and keeping safe bring on your next video.
    Cheers Robert.

    Nice review and and am tempted by the sound fitted grey version but...how can you say the price is the same as the sound chip? Loco is £187 at Hattons and a DCC Sound chip is £90? ie twice the price?

    Paint on metal so much different than on plastic ? What a nonsense ! So subjective for paint is paint and the finish is only related to the 'sort' of paint used. When you do these kind of reviews please keep your comments OBJECTIVE !!
