This moveset is such a fun one. Spinel feels like such an aggressive rush-down opppnent and easily feels like someone I could main in-game. Most of the moves are simple enough that I don't need to go indepth, but the neutral Special literally reverting characters to their first forms/appearances is such a brilliant touch. I cannot wait to see these all in your next extras videos, that is a stroke of pure genius I don't think anyone could've thought of! And the lore. I'll admit I am a huge crybaby when it comes to tragic backstories but God Spinel's is always a tearjerker, and you made it 100 times worse with Dio actively manipulating her and planting a bud on her gem. Combine that with her newfound friendship with Tord and the world building here is better than in some actual movies I've seen recently (looking at you, Rebel Moon.) Overall, fantastic set that might be my favorite this year. Also Spinel is really h-[my lawyers advised me to not finish this sentence]
Honestly Spinel has had my favorite gimmick thus far with Rejuvenation. It seems incredibly unique and can really be a great combo starter/extender. Plus the visual effect of turning somebody into their very first incarnation is also super cool.
This was an absolute surprise I did not expect to see, but I was long expecting Spinel or Ruby to get a moveset soon with everything going on. I can see why this took a bit though, Spinel has such complicated animations I think you balanced her range out appropriately by giving her so much end lag on everything though! And that Neutral B is soooo cool, I love the idea of "resetting" a character into a different skin, I want to see how all the characters would get affected by that now soooo bad, theres so many good ideas.. I'm gonna be super excited to talk about this set in the future, wonderful stuff Shad
This is fucking amazing moveset. I am currently binging SU but I am still far away from reaching the movie, but man. Even if the lore didn't feature crossover elements, it was still full of good interactions. I like how Pearl and Spinel didn't recognize eachother at first only for Pearl to what I presume remember her out of sudden, and we finally see how Dio influences people, which makes this more dramatic than anything. Also I really love how her flashback was told. But as for the set, first of all the Neutral Special is FUCKING AMAZING. I love the gimmick to death, and it's gonna be great to see what everyone else turns into. Rest of her moves were really dapper. I especially like how chaotic the final smash is, and then there are her taunts. I really like how her old form is an alt with her own variety of taunts And that victory against Crystal Gems is intense. You knocked it out of the park, I can't wait to rewatch this set after I watch the movie. And Happy Pride Month!!!
After seeing her in action throughout the lore fighting alongside Tord and appearing in Escape from Lawlcatraz, Spinel has more than deserved her placement as a fighter in Beatdown, and the moveset is amazing to boot! Spinel is a lot of fun in SU, and I really like how her animations emphasize both her chaotic personality and also the rubberhose type design she has, particularly with the regular attacks that were shown off as well as the Up B. The Rejuvenation move for the Neutral B is great, I like the nice touch of having the characters revert to their earliest iteration in some cases (such as Homestar using his design from the very first episode, which was done in Mario Paint to boot), and it leads to a lot of interesting possibilities for "rejuvenated" versions of the fighters. The Side B puts the "spin" in Spinel's name, both figuratively and literally, and I think it's fitting that it can be a shield breaker considering that it almost broke Steven's shield in SU. The Up B, Down B, and FS were also cool too, I like how the FS raises the stakes by giving players a good reason to try to destroy the injector as fast as possible since it could also poison them more the longer it's out. Of course, the taunts and victories were great as always, and I like the nice touch of having Spinel's original form in as an alt. The lore parts were amazing, they looked like they came straight from the show and it was nice touching on why Spinel ended up choosing to be evil in the lore here. Overall a fantastic set and I look forward to what Beatdown has in store in the future too!
HOLY SHIT THIS IS SO AMAZING??? OH MY GOSH???? The Crystal Gems were already really peak but this one was absolutely fantastic. The fact she has a more limited moveset pool to pick from made me very curious about how Spinel would work, and you absolutely delivered! She feels similar enough to the Crystal Gems in terms of playstyle thesis in a way, but she's also unique enough to stand on her own, specially with those crazy normals! Side B and Up B may be a bit simple but they fit for a character like her and are very visually appealing, the poison attack was implemented very creatively too (not many moves that fall from the sky) and the poison still being able to fall if you hit her is such a genius idea. Really fits with her role in the movie, where it seemed like nothing would stop her! The Final Smash was a lot of fun too, I love FSs that feel like little minigames that everyone is forced to play. Again, it's such an Spinel thing to do! And Neutral B had me gasping. The idea of characters turning into their very first incarnations seem like a really cool gimmick and I legit can't wait to see what everybody looks like (Spamton in particular looks hilarious, and I got nostalgic seeing the old sprites for the Witch House characters!). I hope more Lawls try to show their own takes on these forms just for fun. The lore scenes were incredibly interesting and tense as well (seeing DIO manipulating Spinel was genius), specially with the outro which was capped off with a really cool reveal of who I assume is next! My only issue were the few visual glitches which were a bit distracting, but that's more of a fault of VideoPad than your fault (I've used Videopad, I know the pain). Best of luck with the next sets, and happy Pride Month!!!
OH S**T IT'S SPINEL TIME BOYZ! 😮😮😮 Although she was my second most hyped newcomer behind Ruby, I was still not expecting Spinel anytime soon, considering Harry still hasn't been done yet. But this was still a welcome surprise! I'm not even much of a fan of Steven Universe and yet I love Spinel. And now she can finally meet her other friends! The Neutral B was definitely the best part, as the gimmick was very interesting, as well as the call back to Viola's old look. And I like how you included taunts and a victory animation for her younger self. As for the lore, it was expected that she would go after the Gems. And it was interesting how you showed her joining DIO's team. And that was cool seeing Ruby save Pearl from Spinel in the end. Makes me wonder if she's coming next or if Harry is.
Was not expecting Spinel's moveset to come out so soon! Having the Rejuvenation attack give the opponent one of their earlier appearances is also a really cool idea!
Well, I wasn't expecting a set on this day. But... yeah, the set's good as always. I'm not Steven Universe fan, so not too much I can say... But some things/comments I'd like to note here: -I really like B Neutral, it's such a unique take on a debuff/disabler. Having the characters literally turn into older versions of themselves on hit is a really fun detail, and the idea of them forgetting certain moves because they're "At the start of their Journey" is pretty clever too. The most interesting move from the set imo -Down B looks pretty fun to use too. -Other two moves and the final smash work really well. -I was hoping we'd see more unique Standards from Ceda's Down B buff during the KOs section... and I like that we got to see at least one. -The "Original" alt is somehow creepier then the alts where Spinel's all evil n stuff. -Lore segments are fantastically put together as always... (Though I do think some of the cropping needs a bit of work. Especially in the intro on Spinel... but I don't understand how Videopad works. So... not gonna be too harsh on it.) (Also, loved the little callback to the D Kess movie.) All in all, solid as always.
I was not at all expecting this set! While I tally another delay for poor Harry, I must say this set was absolutely amazing! Despite the somewhat limited material, you really made Spinel work, balancing out her immense range with lacking damage and lighter weight, but still giving her the tools she needs to gain the upper hand in spite of this. I LOVED the Rejuvenation mechanic for Neutral Special and it’s so creative how the enemies get sent back to their literal original designs alongside the debuff. I wouldn’t mind seeing her use it in a supplements bonus video on the rest of the characters…. Of course the Side and Up Special provide some very good and fitting movement options for Spinel, all while fitting into her playstyle as expected. The Down Special is also very well implemented and it looks very versatile in how it helps Spinel given its functions. The Final Smash was an easy choice that was done very well, much like some other things in the set I enjoyed. Ceda’s attacks were pretty neat to see, and getting see one of the Down Special unique standard moves in that segment was pretty neat. Spinels taunts and victories (including the ones unique to the taunts) were all great to watch, but the lore segments were even better than I anticipated, as seeing the characters interact in a new ways based off the Beatdown Lore, as well as Spinels actions being partly driven from Dio’s manipulation is just… REALLY good writing. Overall this moveset was sick, and I’m hyped to see how the other characters will fair. Best of luck to you. 👍🏿
Well this was a pleasant surprise to get at the start of my birth month. I have to say you really outdid yourself with how fluid this moveset was to watch. Also looking forward to the possibilities of the neutral b alt forms(I can see Markiplier being reverted to his younger self, DIO reverting to his part 1 appearance or Gary becoming his Pokemon Gen 1 sprite). Excellent work as always and good luck working on Ruby's and/or Harry's moveset(or whatever else you have planned).
I wasn't expecting Spinel's moveset this early, but damn did you deliver. First of all, her standards and overall movement animations are top notch. Her side and up specials are simple yet fitting, and the same goes for the way you implemented the injector poison in her down B. But obviously the star of the show was the neutral B. While the use of the gem rejuvenator was a no brainer, the way it was implemented was simply perfect, with the added bonus of giving the characters a different alt while under its effect which I think everyone else already commented on how great that detail is. Finally, having different animations and even different taunts and victory options for the classic version of Spinel is also really cool and fitting for her. As a big fan of Steven Universe, I can tell you for sure that you did Spinel more than enough justice.
This moveset is the perfect complement to the Crystal Gems, which fits thematically with the movie and with Spinel's personality and backstory, and is translated seamlessly in moveset form, all the way down to the fluid animations. And not only am i digging the way you tackled their encounter from the film into your lore, i'm SUPER HYPED for the character she's facing next.
After seeing all the awesome stuff we got last month, I didn't think we'd get a moveset at the beginning of this month, let alone Spinel having her set come out early. Yet this was another awesome viewing experience. Both the characters animations and playstyle are very fluid, using her abilities to make up for being extremely lightweight. Neutral B is definitely my favorite, as it not only makes you forget to do certain moves, but it will literally change you back to what you looked like at the start of your journey. Its a very unique concept and one I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the cast. Side and Up B are pretty fitting, Down B is very creative, and The Final Smash is an incredibly tense mini game like Finale. Her taunts and victories (including that dark one with The Crystal Gems) were all fun to watch, espically with the ones exclusive to her original self. And Cedar's standards were all fun as well. The lore gets more intense, as as we see Dio becoming more of threat and Spinel's conflicting memories when she speaks with Pearl. As well as seeing Ruby entering into the proper lore for the first time. Really excited to see where this story goes. And of course, Happy Pride Month.
Okay so this moveset was cool. You showed Spinel’s general fighting style quite well, not to mention the Rejuvenation seems super interesting. But the lore, and the story you’re telling is only getting better and better. Legit Dio here is more of a threat than he ever was in Stardust Crusaders and that’s impressive. Really showing his influence over the world and all that through his interactions with Spinel. Overall not a lot to say but the lore was peak and the moveset was cool.

As good of an attempt as that is for a Monokuma moveset, may I suggest that you watch BrawlFan1's own take on a Monokuma moveset? Because he actually put in a lot thought into Monokuma's moveset. Also as far as "Danganronpa" representation goes for "Smash Bros. Lawl Beatdown", ShadBad's taking Peko and Fuyuhiko from "Danganronpa 2" into consideration as a duo fighter (since they were featured in Empty Slot 1 and 2). Plus one person in the comments section for the now unlisted Empty Slot 2 video even suggested that Monokuma would make for a very interesting boss battle, which I wouldn't mind seeing be executed (if you pardon the pun). Of course if those two have over twenty votes, we may have the opportunity to see how a moveset for them would work and how ShadBad's going to sprite and animate them, since I can't imagine "Danganronpa" characters being easy to puppet and rig. Not to mention we may see how they would fit within the lore of "Beatdown" as well?

Spinel's moveset was absolutely brilliant! I didn't expect to be seeing her this soon, but I'm really glad that we did. Also when she rejuvenates John Egbert, I bet he'd end up with his "Homestuck Beta" vector styled look? (I also loved seeing some of Čeda's other moves during Spinel's K.O. segments.) And as always the lore segments for Spinel were phenomenal. I'm very glad we got to learn more about * this version * of Spinel and how she ended up in the world of "Smash Bros. Lawl", first got recruited by DIO's group and her confrontation with Pearl. (Plus I like that most of the mansion fighters were out camping in this "episode" as well, and the cameos from the Sburb underlings was a nice treat to see.) Now as always, I'm really looking forward to where this story goes next and not only to see how her battle with Ruby Rose will play out (in Ruby's moveset video I presume), but to (probably) see what the other fighters had been up to during the camping trip. (Though judging by the chart at 0:15, I think I have a pretty good idea of when this part of the lore takes place?) Keep up the great work, Shad.
Now this is a cool set, not really a SU fan, but I'd say there's a lot of interesting ideas here, and her playstyle looks fun and that's great... and that's really all I got, this is good.

Spinel is like a fusion between Mommy Long Legs (Poopy Playtime) Darcy (Amphibia) and Peacock (Skullgirls)
Very interesting moveset! Very animated, too. Though I was only here for Ceda neutrals, lol. He sure did blow up the the FuF up the.
Spinel's moveset was absolutely brilliant! I didn't expect to be seeing her this soon, but I'm really glad that we did.
Also when she rejuvenates John Egbert, I bet he'd end up with his "Homestuck Beta" vector styled look?
(I also loved seeing some of Čeda's other moves during Spinel's K.O. segments.)
And as always the lore segments for Spinel were phenomenal. I'm very glad we got to learn more about * this version * of Spinel and how she ended up in the world of "Smash Bros. Lawl", first got recruited by DIO's group and her confrontation with Pearl. (Plus I like that most of the mansion fighters were out camping in this "episode" as well, and the cameos from the Sburb underlings was a nice treat to see.)
Now as always, I'm really looking forward to where this story goes next and not only to see how her battle with Ruby Rose will play out (in Ruby's moveset video I presume), but to (probably) see what the other fighters had been up to during the camping trip. (Though judging by the chart at 0:15, I think I have a pretty good idea of when this part of the lore takes place?)
Keep up the great work, Shad.
Yo, you skipped way ahead of the other figthers. Thanks for this Moveset though! 😊
Edit: That Neutral B is such a clever idea!
There should be a discord for this type of stuff

Cool!
Now this is a cool set, not really a SU fan, but I'd say there's a lot of interesting ideas here, and her playstyle looks fun and that's great... and that's really all I got, this is good.
