I've been aware of Fotheringay for decades but never came across any of the band's music before. TH-cam's algorithm served this up to me today, and it's great!
First heard this in 1970'ish - it completely shattereed my drumming notions and made me realise there was more to drumming than grooving out a 4/4 beat - fabulous track, as was the rest of the album! RIP Sandy Denny!
Lovely music. I was given the Fotheringay album by a guy in my day release class at college who new i was right into Sandy Denny's Fairport, I wasn't aware of its release and was so excited by the wonderful gatefold sleeve It was the first year of my electricians apprenticeship (1970), didn't really know that guy only that he was very intelligent and chose to sit with me and share his stationary, knowledge etc. Haven't seen him since and can't even remember his name. The album became one of my favourite albums of all time. Thankyou my friend from Stockton & Billingham Technical College, hope your still fit and well.
Thanks for posting this. It brings me back to times when life was simple and one could just slip on a vinyl disk to get into a Sandy Denny/ Trevor Lucas state of mind.
Partly due to refined taste; people who seek the best will discover Sandy Denny & Co. Partly to the luck of the draw. I listen to the best I can find lifelong, yet bumped into this group's name only here and there. No one told me how good they were until I stumbled upon them here on TH-cam, so many years after the event.
This was the main song from the LP that the underground FM stations would play. Of course AM radio wouldn't touch this song with a ten foot pole! You could guess what radio band I supported back then...the one that was open to everything!

Why hasn't Jerry Donahue gotten more recognition as a great guitarist? He certainly deserves it.
Too unassuming. Wonderful musician.

The best version for this song!!!
LOVE this song. I have been searching for years for perfect music: With Fairport Convention and Fotheringay, I think I have found it.
Take a couple of minutes to add to the list Ten Years After "Let The Sky Fall"
This almost has an old school jethro tull feel to it. I like it!!!
