28:32 I can’t get over how nice your roots are on your Orchid! It had to be a fresh pot up when you bought it. All the orchids I buy have root rot inside that moss.
We didn't get snow last winter, so this was the first snow my cat has seen, and he was so mad when we went outside and he stepped in it! He sulked until it was gone lol. I keep saying I won't get syngs again, but that one is so pretty. I'll put it on my wishlist in case I change my mind. I hate when plants fall; it's happened to me twice, one was ok, one wasn't but was proppable. I'm glad your plant is ok! I'm not great at growing seeds, so I'm glad my indoor plants haven't flowered for me! Your seedlings all look great, and they're so cute at that size!
Beautif plants Melissa, as always. The orchid can be easier to repot if you soak it, the roots are more bendy less brakage and moss is easier to separate, as well as the very compacted moss plug. You did a beautiful job anyways and she looks healthy! I'm getting ready to repot my orchids into a similar mix 💚
That was amazing watching you harvest those berries and pot-up the seeds! I hope you will continue to update us as they mature and grow. I can’t wait!👍🏼😊❤️
Just an idea…maybe germinate the extra seeds in small plastic cups with lids that you might get for salsa in tacos to go orders or Jell-O shots? That way you could easily include them as inexpensive add ons or freebies in your shop and only have to handle them once. Love your channel ❤❤
we had 9 inches of snow in south Alabama and almost that much at the beach 75 miles south of us all on Tuesday 21St it just has melted today -sunday 26Th it was so pretty!!!
wow 9 inches is a lot! I saw some photos of the snow in Florida haha. Definitely beautiful out with all the snow. We still have some left in the shaded areas but a lot of it has melted here too ☺️
I wondered if it snowed over there. We didn't get any where I live in Mississippi but they sure got some on the coast. I was glad they got the opportunity to play in the snow. Everyone needs to do that some time in life 😊
Hi Melissa! I love your videos and I’m so glad I found your channel. Can you please give suggestions on grow lights and how long they should be on? I bought some and they have different timers and I’m unsure how many hours to select. I’d like to get a marble queen and eventually put her on a moss poll bc you inspired me lol they’re so pretty! How long would I keep a grow light on her?
Hi there! Thank you so much for being here 🫶 so good to hear you want to do a marble queen on a pole. They are so pretty with the bigger leaves ☺️ I usually do 12 hours for grow light timers. I have some that are on for 10 and some I think are on 14 hrs lol. If you have some good natural light they probably won't need as much but if the plants are in a more low light area I would keep the light on them for a longer period :)
Hi Melissa! Love the kitty purrs🥰 The Regal Shield is flipping gorgeous! How do you do it!?😲 Cool that you got all that snow! Our weather is so weird! One day it’s -3C and the next it’s -30C! Crazy!
Hi Melissa, I love these plant chore videos and props. I really love that syngonium and have never come across that one. Have you ever had the tri colour syngonium and if so have tried it in the pon? I noticed you got new sheers? How do you find these ones compared to your smaller ones? ThankYou. Btw, I love how Chai was purring in the beginning of the video. ❤❤❤
Hi there! I bought the vivosun seedling heat mat last year and it doesn't have a timer or anything so it stays on all the time. I do want to get some more mats though so I might look at getting some that I can adjust. It says it maintains temps around 68-86℉ (20-30℃). Things dry out pretty quickly on them though so I have to add water more often. Here's what I have: www.amazon.com/dp/B00P7U259C?linkCode=ssc&tag=onamzmeli0992-20&creativeASIN=B00P7U259C&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.1OODWALE01UEU&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d_asin&th=1
Do you mean the purecrop 1? I got it to try out and it's still pretty new to me but I'm trying to use it since I bought it and it's pretty expensive. It did absolutely nothing for mealies though and the main reason I got it to try. I usually just use castille soap and water mixed.
It's a brita filter. I try to run the tap water through there but I'm not sure if it's done anything haha. I add an aquarium stress coat in my water to remove some chemicals as part of my nutrient regimen though :)
I just paused this video and went right to Etsy to find the variagated snow capped begonia 🫣 it’s so beautiful!! In a week to 10 days I’ll be the proud owner of one! 😊 I’ve never spent so much on one plant but plenty of times I’ve spent more than that on several plants at a time sooo….. 😂 thankfully both the shop owner and I are in FL so hopefully it makes it okay as the weather should warm up in the next several days. I can’t believe I just did that all willy nilly 😂 She is so so beautiful! I’ve never wanted a plant so badly so immediately. Normally I’m fine waiting months and looking around until I come across something I’ve been eyeing. Not this time. The hubs told me to go for it so I did 😂Thank you! ❤ 😊
23:35 do you know roughly what size the chips are? As I’m looking at buying this mix for my 4 orchids. I live in Australia and where I live, you can only buy orchid soil from Bunnings. Don’t want soil 😅
hmm if it's the outdoor/decorative bark not sure if it might be treated? I never thought about that. I usually get bark online that's made for plants. Miracle gro has some bark for orchids in the stores but sometimes it contains fungus gnats :(
Do you know what size that potting mat is? It looks to be the perfect size for the space I have. I’ve got this giant one that I clipped it’s the exact size of my card table. Which is standard size. But I don’t like to snap the corners together because it makes a four inch high ledge that’s hard to reach over with out flattening the side down.
Beautiful Royal Shield! Mine got thrips and after treatments (you know how it is) I cut the damaged leaves and gave me 4 inflo’s and I cut them off and haven’t give me a new leaf in like forever 😭 (4 months) it’s winter here in California but she still by the best window facing east. Any suggestions how to nurture it back to leaf production? I use your aroid mix in a lechuza pot and I use your recommendation for fertilizers. Any suggestion is much appreciated ♥️🪴
aww hopefully it'll start producing some new leaves here soon for you and sorry about the thrips 🥹 I think the flower production can really slow things down and plus it being winter can cause some dormancy. Several of my alocasias haven't grown that much lately and I still feed them and give them the same amount of light over spring/summer. I think once the warmer weather is here it''ll start growing more for you 💚
Orchids needs in a moss as what i learn even you have bark, perlite, pumice, and charcoal in your mix. It looks healthy roots in a moss i will leave it alone if thats my orchids. Crossing fingers that your orchids repot will do good for you.
Is there anything messier than a fallen plant in pon? Ugh. Cleaning wet pon off the floor is such a pain in the butt. My cat is always after my marantas, and he sometimes pulls them off the shelf trying to chew the leaves. I come down to a smashed plant and pon everywhere. 😑 little monster. I didn’t know there was a variegated syngonium batik. It’s really pretty. I like the juvenile leaves of the podophyllum so much more than the mature ones, so I’ve always felt pretty indifferent towards syngonium. I only have one, a mojito, and it’s been a struggle plant from day 1 that loves rotting on me. Probably because I forget about it all the time 😂 But that albo is almost beautiful enough to convince me to get another one. I recently started using stratum for my stubborn props, and it’s been a game changer. My baby cupreas had died back to their corms a month or so ago, and now in stratum they are rooting and pushing new growth. I’m glad I decided to bite the bullet and get a bag.
Chai loves my marantas too haha that's so funny! Sorry about the pon mess your cat makes though 😫 the reservoir was empty on mine so not that much water spilled out 😂 I randomly came across it on Etsy and thought it was so pretty so I'm glad I decided to get it :) Stratum is amazing! I try and reuse it as much as I can so I can make it last longer. I'm so happy your cuprea is pushing new growth again 🥹🫶
How can you propagate in January? All my aeroids are doing so bad and I am so frustrated. I bombard them with light but the temperatures are just so low in my plant room 😭 HELP ME PLEASSSEEEE
oh no I'm so sorry 😢 how cold is it getting to in your room? Do you have any windows in there that you could possibly try and insulate some to block any drafts coming through?
I had to stop the beginning of the video to show my husband, the sound of your kitty purring was so dang cute!! 😍
haha Chai is a purring machine! 😂
This was totally a chill video just what I wanted today.
That snow capped begonia is stunning
I really love a plant chore video without music ❤

I really like your bow sweater. It’s very cute 🥰
Hi Melissa! Another great Plants and Purr's video! 😂😂🩷😺🤗
Thank you so much! 💖
Oh my gosh thank you sooo much again. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 the seeds have little roots and are starting to sprout. I LOVE them. 😍
yay! of course!! I can't wait for them to start growing for you! 🥰
That orchid is so cute. I can’t believe those beautiful flowers are still there.
it is always such a pleasure to watch your videos, relaxing, informative and fun. Thank you. and lovely orchid roots.
Glad you enjoy it! Thank you so much!! 🥰
your videos are so relaxing. Also a plant lover here : )
aw I'm glad!! Thank you for watching and being here 🥰
i love that kind of video! greetings from Poland
Good morning!! Thanks so much for watching! ☺️
That was amazing watching you harvest those berries and pot-up the seeds! I hope you will continue to update us as they mature and grow. I can’t wait!👍🏼😊❤️
Thanks! I definitely will, I'm so excited to see how they turn out! 💕

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! 🥰
0:31 🙋🏾♀️Ohio native here too! Born and raised in Cincinnati
I really like your videos that was great 😊
Crazy how you have more snow than we’ve gotten in NY this season

Hi 👋🏽 from snowy Canada 🇨🇦. Sean from OnlyPlants rooted his Rex Begonia in spaghnum moss successfully. ❤
thank you! I might give moss a go for them :)
The purr purrs 😭😭😭😭😭

I’m lazy 😂. I just thoroughly rinse the pon after repotting the plant 😅
Same. If even then hahahq

Most of my pots are too big for my outter pots, so your Begonia looks normal to me. 😂

My cat looks exactly like yours. I'm in Port Orchard Wa. We have not had any snow. First time in 15 years.
I caught my cat climbing my moss poles. I have them tied to the walls now.
aww :) love tuxedo kitties! yeah, the weather was kinda crazy last week haha. I think the last time it snowed here was 2017 or 2018 🙈
Hi Melissa! What temperature do you set your heat mat at for your Anthurium seedlings?

@@plantsbymelissa Thanks so much!
That’s the size of my orchiatta. I like the small size cause I’ve already put the coco husks in which is bigger.
I think if you put the seeds over night in water the shell will be softer and they will germinate quicker.
Do you have the treatments listed or is it in your Amazon storefront? Like the Prop One, etc.
Do you mean the purecrop 1? I got it to try out and it's still pretty new to me but I'm trying to use it since I bought it and it's pretty expensive. It did absolutely nothing for mealies though and the main reason I got it to try. I usually just use castille soap and water mixed.
@plantsbymelissa Yes. Haha.Thank you. I use the same Castille soap mixture, too, but I usually like to look up other stuff.
What is that water container you are using next to the sink?
It's a brita filter. I try to run the tap water through there but I'm not sure if it's done anything haha. I add an aquarium stress coat in my water to remove some chemicals as part of my nutrient regimen though :)

Also, would love to hear how your pon journey has been. Well, an update since the last one. What you have learned :)
Thanks so much! I honestly love pon way more than I thought I would haha. I'll have to do another update soon!
48:23 I would love to own one of your Anthurium seedlings!
23:35 do you know roughly what size the chips are? As I’m looking at buying this mix for my 4 orchids.
I live in Australia and where I live, you can only buy orchid soil from Bunnings. Don’t want soil 😅
It's the Orchiata brand orchid bark and this size is the classic grade which is roughly 6-9 mm :)
@@plantsbymelissa thank you Melissa :).
As all but one is in moss. I don’t do well with moss 😿😹
44:59 Girl that looks backbreaking to do. How many hours were you sitting there doing all of those seeds?
haha probably a couple hrs. I really need a new chair for my computer desk that's more supportive 🙈
I want to know, if it's ok to use regular pine bark for a big box store. Instead of using orchid bark or fir tree bark? I'm new to making soil mix.
hmm if it's the outdoor/decorative bark not sure if it might be treated? I never thought about that. I usually get bark online that's made for plants. Miracle gro has some bark for orchids in the stores but sometimes it contains fungus gnats :(

I think it's 12" x 15". I bought a new white bigger one but it was out of stock in the cat pattern so I got it in the regular size haha.

Not, the waters pretty murky.

I use foliage pro for my plants. My pon nutrient mix is what I use for everything now :)

Now the Syngonium can fit in other spaces without taking over the space.
That seems really tiny. The Serpens
✨🫶🏻
Don’t let water sit at the crown of the leaves
Better get another seedling tray do you can harvest more berries.
I think you unpotted the orchid just in the nick of time.
For as much as you like pink plants I would think you’d wear more pink than I see you in.
❤
