Love that you share the challenges. When jobs go smoothly, it’s one thing. But when you need to work around unexpected challenges, that’s where real “learning” occurs.
Hello from Ireland again, Dan. I just noticed this Ferrari on the lift at the end of the last video. What a brilliant colour, and with those Gold wheels. What a great combination 😍 👌 much better than Red I think. 20hrs, my God, if I had one of these Ferrari's, and I won't lol, I would have to Kidnap you, Dan, to fix it lol. Or it would cost alot of Dollars. But what a lovely Car. One Happy Customer. Thanks Dan. 👌🥰🥰👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I love those easy outs. I have always pretty good luck with them. The wrench you guys altered is what we simply call a header wrench. If your doing installing headers those two tools are a must. Thats a classic header job if you are using them both. Nothing out if the ordinary. It sounds great. Nice job. next time should be easier
It's stunning how many youtube mechanics are unaware of magnetic induction heating tools for removing rusted bolts and nuts. Under $200- no open flames next to wires, rubber parts, no penetrant sprays. It's no "toy", Dan- it's a useful tool that'll pay off immediately.
Sounds exactly like mine! Oh wait, mine also has Capristo headers with cats and with the S-Line teeny-weenie muffler box. Imagine that! The sound is awesome, especially above 4000RPM! Good Luck!
I remember the days before a lot of those nice jigs and guides to get a perfectly centered hole. I welded many a washer and nut to extract broken bolts and studs. When I was a flat rate Cadillac tech over 20yrs ago you got 1hr pay per broken bolt. So I got pretty damn good at "un fucking" things.
Dan, do you have any Ferrari techs that watch or comment on your vids? Seems that a dealer tech could give us tips on how they do any particular job that requires specific tools or tricks.
@@normalguysupercar I was kind of lucky with my C5 Corvette because one of the bolts to the factory exhaust would not come out to install aftermarket headers ,but I manage to extract it and replaced everything with ARP studs and nuts!
Are the headers warping a common problem with other Ferraris of this era? I just think if Porsches had a header warping issue they issue a recall to replace them even 20 years on. I’m probably wrong but who knows?
@ it’s not like Ferrari really ever puts there new models thru the same quality testing like other car manufacturers do. One won’t ever see Ferrari testing their cars like Porsche does. Like in the extreme heat and extreme cold conditions. Much like Jay Leno I will never own a Ferrari.
I was working on my F12's oil change since 2 days ago. Everything went well then realized didn't have the crush washer lol.. Now I drained the oil cooler and it's leaking, applied some thread sealants and cross fingers. I guess you were right not to drain the oil cooler line when you did your F12. Bottom line is yes, I experienced a 2 hours job turned into a 3 days job. T^T Cry cry
Why do the Ferrari owners go with Heat wrap? That literally turns into a wick should there be an unexpected oil leak. Ceramic coating is a much more safe option.
Cheap, reliable cars with abundant and inexpensive parts are the way to go. I don't own a Ferrari (or similar), which is something I celebrate regularly. Mostly, I watch videos like this to shake my head at how much people struggle with them and how inferior they are, in certain ways.
When it's a primary vehicle, that makes complete sense and I agree. When it's a secondary vehicle, all that goes out the window. It just doesn't matter

Oh yes. That's where the lesson is.
The 430 and 458 are some of the best sounding road cars on the planet. *chef's kiss*
Agreed
As usual, Josh is nowhere to be seen to do any of the work, but he pops up at the end to be able to start the car😂😂😂
Yup
Finally you got a guy that can work on these older cars. Congrats.
Yup
LOVE the Office cut aways. So funny and well timed.
LOL thanks!
@@normalguysupercaris that 430 TDF Blue?
@@JFord44 Abu Dhabi Blue

Yup. We put the modified tools in a bag labeled 430 headers. Lol
@normalguysupercar right on, I love it
Dan you need a induction heating coil. You’ll never use liquid wrench ever again and a lot less likely to break a bolt
Oh that sounds like a fun toy

Love the color of this Scud
Me too
Best looking scud ever made. ❤ Will never forget the time I saw it in person.
Do the radio install video
Perhaps on another car in the future.
@@normalguysupercar
Does the F430 accept any modern double din radio or what's the deal?
@@AB-80X single din

Ah yes. Is the harness just plug and play?
@@AB-80X no unfortunately not
That car looks great in blue with matte gold wheels.
Agreed!

Ah yes, should be similar.
That's nice work. Looks like Alan is a very good mechanic!
I certainly think so!
I have the same head unit in my 360 - surprisingly GOOD!
Yeah it is!
I love the way that ferrari looks, everything's perfect.
Yes.

Lol yeah necessity is the mother of invention
Beautiful car, love the license plate
LOL it's awesome.
I'm pretty sure that somewhere, sometime that a snapped stud has been the cause of a divorce.
Absolute day ruiner.
LOOOL! Wouldn't be shocked.
That car looks incredible
Yup
Beautiful car. Love the paint color and the gold wheels go really well with that paint. Blu Tour De France?
It's Abu Dhabi Blue.
Great tech vid!
Good job Dan!
Thank you
Ha ha ha, oh Lordy. Here we go with headers again lol
Yuuuup
7:26 Digorno, my fave pizza 🍕
Lol nice
Hard headers💪......the best...🏁🇮🇹
Yes indeed
Sweet looking car. Sounds like a race car.
Hell yes.
I just did the exact same thing to my scuderia…..capristo headers and the same new apple play head unit.
Very nice!
I’m always one stubborn bold, nut or screw away from a 20 minute job turning into 2 hours
what brand and model reverse out bit did you use? Need to get one

Every once in a while
What’s the model number of that stereo head unit?
CP-71W
Nice colour
Oh yes.
Future note. If you can’t get that bit into a tight location. The double nut procedure works great.
That's IF there's still exposed stud. This snapped of in the head, like nothing sticking out.
@@normalguysupercar
Was it flat with the cylinder head or snapped so it was sunk deep in?
@ Ah. That’s brutal.
The struggle is real, and I feel for you guys because I've been in the same spot😬
Oh yeah. Headers are a universal pain in the butt

Eh, it's certain models that have issues. The F430 headers are particularly crappy.

Eh, I really disagree with that. You mean studs don't snap on cheaper cars?
@ Not to mention cheaper cars tend to be driven in worse conditions, and will end up having more grime and rust to deal with when being worked on.

While I won't argue with your statement, I don't understand how you found yourself on this YT channel watching a video about luxury car repair.
liquid wrenches pure psychology. Doesn't do anything
