Whenever we’re camping with friends, a common joke is that we have the smallest chairs when we pull up to the campfire. Sure, they’re comfy and they pack down into a small package but it gets old when everyone is looking down on us at the fire and giving us a hard time. I’d say it was definitely an area of our camping kit that we didn’t know we need to upgrade. Enter Tyson’s back problems and comfortable and practical chairs are becoming more important no matter where we are.
The Expander Chairs by Front Runner really are the best of both worlds. They expand into full size, normal shape camp chairs but pack down into a pretty slim and packable package. The Expander Chairs are comfortable, practical, sturdy, and durable and now all of our friends are asking us where we got them.
Unless we’re on the motorcycles, the weight of our camp chairs isn’t really a huge issue but we are always conscious about the size. We love that these chairs pack down to about the size of a laptop bag. They’re easy to pack in the van, car, or trailer. Coming in at 9 pounds, these aren’t the most lightweight camp chairs on the market but we will trade the weight for the fact that they are full-size and comfortable.
The Expander Chairs are simple yet have everything you need. There’s a cupholder and a small pocket on one side and a large pocket on the other side. It’s actually really nice to have a pocket to stash your phone and the cup holder is key. Since having the Expander Chairs, I’ve realized that pockets on camp chairs are imperative.
One gripe we have about the Expander Chairs, and it’s a fairly lame gripe, is that if you have your hands full and you are trying to move the chair, it’s hard to set down and have it set up properly with just one hand. It kind of collapses. We probably just need to slow our roll and not have our hands full so hardly docking these chairs any points for the minor complaint.
If it’s time to upgrade your camp chairs, we highly suggest the Expander Chairs by Front Runner. They’re well-built, comfortable, compact, and your friends will be jealous. If you’re interested in purchasing these chairs, doing so using our provided link supports us as we get a small kickback from your purchase. We appreciate the support!
*We received these chairs for free in exchange for a review, however, it’s important to know that all thoughts are our own.

Thanks for watching Margaret. I had back surgery a few years ago and I’m kind of particular about chairs now. For me the bottom is too firm after an hour and I begin to get pain. But my girlfriend finds them to be very comfortable and has not had any problems. She likes them because they are more upright.

I have these and find them uncomfortable to sit in.
The upright support poles at the back of the chair dig into my armpits when I sit back.
This will be different for different people depending on height and build etc.
They are ok enough for the kids though.

I can actually see that being an issue depending on body type.

Unfortunately these things don’t use stainless hardware and every single rivet and screw rusted the first time we used them at the beach, even after thorough rinsing.

We haven't had this experience and we used these extensively while living on the beach on the Sea of Cortez.

ARB Compact Directors Chair is way better, stronger, cheaper and more comfortable.

Those look a lot larger and heavier. No thanks : ) Prefer South African built and engineered rather than ARB's Chinese manufacturing ; ) In fact let me check the specs
ARB specs: 7 kg - dims: 40 cm x 47 cm x 60 cm - that's from their website and obviously wrong, but it's still huge compared to front runner
      FrontRunner: 4 kg - dims: 6 cm x 44 cm x 42 cm

@@pontier09 Sure thing buddy. Let me know how long those flimsy, uncomfortable pieces of shit actually last. Keep drinking that “Overland” Kool Aid.
