I always wondered how Mike Rutherford, Chris Squire, Geddy Lee and all those guys used to handle these pedals back in the seventies with their flares and high-heeled boots. :-)
A staple of early Genesis concerts. You could feel the bass notes played by Mike Rutherford. Just listening to this through my headphones, I've never heard anything sound like that.
AHHH! That sounds like the thing that created so many great sounds I remember as a kid, from video games to movie sound effects to Yngwie Malmsteens intro to Rising Force and so on. I bet it cost a lot of money today.
RITCHIE BLACKMORE began using these in the late 1970s too. And Mike Rutherford may have been first, in 1971, using a Dewtron bassmaster pedal board. (I think Moog ripped them off but I could be wrong.)
I like how it sounds like electricity instead of sounding like a sound recording. Rush, Kids in America, that Life's Been Good song, Rockefeller Skank.
I have the 1, this sounds good, I cant for certain without running them through the same equipment, but it may sound equally impressive and does a lot more than the 1.
Answering both comments here. You can play with your hands, but it's designed to be used with feet, like organ pedals. I'm not sure you can MIDI it. There's a cheaper, smaller rackmount version called the Minitaur, which you can control via MIDI input.
Very nice, seems mad that there are no bass pedal synths around these days. I love them and I'd love to have one, but I can't justify the cost. "Think's maybe I could make one, herm! cheap old keyboard from charity shop."
Didn't Francis Buchholz use this on Scorpions - Love At First Sting? It's reason why bass sounds much different on that record compared to most music in 80s?
Hi!
My MFB Synth Lite 2 sounds quite close to that, not exactly, but for a fraction of the price it's quite good! Now, only if I had a foot controler like this one...
I always wondered how Mike Rutherford, Chris Squire, Geddy Lee and all those guys used to handle these pedals back in the seventies with their flares and high-heeled boots. :-)
Yes how did they do it?4 strings keep me busy as it is.
That's what we're trying to figure out now!
@@kevmac1230 usually baselines were simplified or the main instrument was keyboard to not break the mind apart
@@kevmac1230 it's probably why they're famous worldwide and you ain't

The sounds this is capable of are wild. Several times I had shivers run down my spine from the bizarre sensations in my eardrums.
💥😅
Instrument was also used in 1982's "I Don't Care Anymore" by Phil Collins.
My friend used to have an old Moog synth, So much fun.... I could play the thing for hours and hours and not get bored
The best demo of this I've seen so far...you must love it!

Great Video, shows in the best way how great this synth pedal is.
Sounds so prog!!!!!!! Makes me want to listen to Rush and take my clothes off!!!
;)
That changed my life thanks for everything
1:12 Regular Show intro
:)
Jejeje oh yeah!
* making the "hmm. Hmmhmmhmmhm" sound in agreement *

Why does this sound so great?
apparently john myung also uses it. Like a badass.
+Iridescent Noise yep and a lot of other people...It's easy to understand why.
I’m feelin the original Terminator right now 👌🏼
@LTLfilms you wouldn't really, that sound originally came from an Oberheim OB-X, not a Moog.
Sounds like a John Carpenter soundtrack.
Guess why!
John Carpenter's feet...

I am curious to know the practical implications of such a device.
"Whats that you say, R2-D2?"
hammer sound, echt inglaublich was moog da immer macht.
hab nur eine frage, was ist anders bei dem als beim tyros 1?
'Reso-bass' is pretty much the beginning of 'I Know What I Like'!

@Rhizosphere The Minitaur paired with the Roland PK5 pedal series is what you're looking for. both pieces are around 500/change each
Didn't Francis Buchholz use this on Scorpions - Love At First Sting? It's reason why bass sounds much different on that record compared to most music in 80s?
I think yes.
Is this the 'instrument' Brian used when the Beach Boys recorded the Love You album in 1977?

nice tunes again ! Thanks for showing !
i want it XD
懐かしい!と思ったら、随分進化しましたねTaurusも。こういう音がまた恋しくなってしまいましたよ。
I'm using cheap headphones and i could still FEEL the bass! nice
I just pooped my pants
Popped your pants?
I finally was able to get one of these, super excited.
If you still have it, how do you like it? I've wanted a 3 since they were announced.
Was there ever a cooler sound at a gig than the earth shaking from a Taurus 3 through a mahoosive old school PA system?
with the T1.... ;)
Love the bass preset sound
Was für ein potentes Gerät! Stark!!!
Taurus3 is amazing so far I only have one complaint: it needs a handle there is no easy way to pick it up and move it.
@retrosound72 ich freue mich schon drauf!
sie sache mit dem lfo ist cool! den werden bestimmt jetzt viele dubstep produzenten benutzen ;)
glaube allerdings nicht das er so erfolgreich wird wie der erste.
The T3 is awesome
indeed
Sound so phat! Holy fuck!
Rodger Waters put these things on the map! Love it! I don't know if he still uses them but Nice sound
:)
@JoeBonamassaTV
If Geddy Lee asked this question , would it go unanswered for four weeks? I wonder.
I heard some dark side of the moon at the end , so cool.
Very nice!!
🙌
@retrosound72 wow, jetzt schon. hätte ich nicht gedacht

Shivers down my spine.
Hermoso sonido.
🙌
now that's some real bass!
Didn't Rush use a Taurus 1 for Tom Sawyer? Or was that an OBX?
So u play the Taurus by hand? I'm no expert on it, so that's why I ask.
I'm going to buy one of these, put the amp in my window and then crankit up up at about 3:00 AM and freak out my neighbors.
those are tones to kill for. I think i just drooled a bit........wait i've just seen the price tag on one wow.......I'd still pay it though.
loved the arpeggiator! btw, all the sounds are pretty amazing... was that close encounters?! hehhehehe
do these have a good bass synth sound for tom sawyer?
can this set up like a real bass with out the delay stuff
Little Big Town's "Tornado" apparently has one of these.
I didnt realize these were retro ^_^

GEDDY LEE
What is a good amp to use with these pedals (for the home)? Something that will produce the bass well.
where did you buy this and how much was it???
прикольный инструментик!
:))
Nice demo! Thanks.
Really cool.
Sounds fresh, but is it worth $2000?
mikeiq nope
Good sound Good synth

How it sounds? P10 out, USB? How it works?
02:25 Paseando por Roma - Soda Stereo 😃
I dont understand the use of this pedal? what is it for? can you not get this in a keyboard style synth?
Can these be midi triggered?
Eso Teric yes it has midi
when we actually performing this... we use the feet right?
Yarrr
So you got Taurus 3 too!... (: I
Play RUSH !
agreed
tom sawyer
@@mikepaul6851 Common misconception. The intro to Tom Sawyer was NEVER played on a Taurus. It was done on an OB-X.
0:41 is the coolest sounding
man that thin is a TANK
Very last two sounds sounded like PacMan lol
it reminds me of rush, but it also reminds me of chromatics and electric youth
holy shit that is some serious fat bass :)
yes it is. I heard this instrument first in a live performance and it was very impressive.
how do you plug him ??
From what i can tell, there's is no point in buying one of these if you already own a Moog Little Phatty, which is an awesome synth by the way.
Van Der Funk aesthetics and the timbre from using your fists/feet
@VanHalenfreak9 You'd want an Oberheim or a Dave Smith synth for that sound.
You'd need 3 legs to hold a note and adjust the filter cut off wheel ... :-)
that sounds will be nice when i make a G FUNK beat
Awesome!
🎶💫🎶
@ureadmymind unlikely that that will happen anytime soon. They only made 1000 and they sold out.
will auch so was haben !!
4:33 pac-man died :(
When played with hands it sounds different than when played with feet, how they did that?
Rieni Otten more feeling
*****
Put some socks on your hands and try again, you will be surprised.
What was the name of this song? ;-)
Taurus....:D
Can u MIDI this & play it w/a keyboard controller?
Music-MannTV yes but they make a module for a lot less with midi too
very cool!!!!
It seemed like a good idea at the time.....
Wow that made my eyes water lol
good
i think all of the notes on this synth are the brown noise
I want one! :-D
