I’m a feeder driver who drives into Chicago every night. There are a few tricks we can use, but this is on a whole other level. Great job on this video. You did a fantastic job.

@@justinfrench2529 hey man, is there a way I can personally message you on here and give you my number. It’s also our first leg as well and there’s 2 different ways that I know of to get back out of the city.
As someone who drove limos, taxi, black cars in and out of NYC for 30 plus years, and now as I am on my first week as a new cdl graduate, hired as feeder driver at UPS's Meadowlands. I found your video very helpful and comforting by seeing a step by step how to drive a 53 foot trailer into NYC, through the GW bridge and down Amsterdam Ave. I appreciate you taking the time in the makingof this vidio,, with great commentary, maps, and your professional advice on every little detail that I may encounter . Thank you for a great job/Video and please keep them coming.
@bill I don't know where you work at Bill, but I disagree with your opinion , I liked it there, and I enjoyed the 3 months that I spent working and training at the Meadowlands, I found that 99% of the people that were there were very helpful and Pleasant. The work environment was great, and it Exceeded my expectations of a work environment with that many people. the management was super nice, or at least they went out of there way to make me feel comfortable as a newbie there, Koz, the night shift manager was a super nice guy. But what else can I tell bill, except that thank God that it is a free country and you're entitled to yr opinion
Huge respect for UPS. worked there 7 yrs. Got me thru college and worked there a little bit after graduation. It made me more of a better, proactive, and aware driver on the road. This video illustrates why. Thank you for the insight.
I was a Bus Operator for MTA I drove 30yrs, once you become familiar with Manhattan it get pretty easy traveling in that borough, your video was very interesting, have a great 23 with UPS
Seems like the key here is to not miss any turns. This is an invaluable resource. I cant express thats statement enough. I might take a shot and put my name on a M43NY weekly bid.
I've told myself for years now I'll never cross that bridge into NYC in any vehicle larger than a pickup truck. But I found out the new Middletown PA hub does have routes that take you into NYC. For $34/hr I'll take that big 'ol truck in there if I have to. I hope they'll at least train and teach me the basics of NYC in addition to this video I found. Thanks! I'm an off the street hire who starts training on the 10th. I'm willing to do nights and weekends, 100 turns, whatever it is. So as long as I don't get called in on one, I certainly won't be bidding on a NYC route.
I’m a driver out of EZRPA and said I would never go to 43rd. Now on sleeper my bus for peak has us heading there. I’m not afraid, just have the seniority to not have to normally. But this video makes it way easier than I was expecting heading there tonight. And my B driver has never been there either so it’s an adventure for both of us 😂
I’m such a nerd I actually followed along on your route using Google maps. I’m a feeder driver in the Midwest and will never drive that route and still I found this fascinating. 😁
Very professional driver. I myself drove into New York City with a 48-foot trailer mainly in college point queens. From Pennsylvania and return for 12 years. That specific run, then got an over the road run for 28 years now. I'm retired and really missed.
Fantastic video, I used your video on my first trip into M43 and it is 💯 spot on....I have also used your alternate path from South Jersey....really, really appreciate your work... extremely helpful for non NYC drivers....The only frustrating thing is when leaving M43, I would advise all drivers to check with dispatch on 179th street closure to GW bridge....got stuck there once when closed and fortunate another UPS driver came that way and I followed him to 181 st....alternate route to the GW bridge
As a Sleeper driver we do not pull into the building but stay on the street correct? drop our set on the street and wait for a Yardbird to bring us our load going to Grand Rapids MI? we will be running this route on Sundays from SDFAS. great detailed video and thank you!
Thank you for the precise instructions! This video helped me a lot driving to M43NY. Everything went smoothly as expected. Keep up the good work and keep safe out there! -Feeder/Sleeper Cover Driver WILPA/1909
Thats some intricate tight trucking ...i drove nyc and long island for years delivering paper and cleaning supplies ....frighteningly scary at first but very rewarding once you get to know it
The first time I was ever at Times Square I was shocked to see a feeder driving through there heading east. I couldn’t imagine that there was a hub anywhere nearby in the middle of the city. I’ve since met someone who worked there and told me a lot about the building, the spiral ramps that you use to take trailers up five stories, etc. I was expecting you to drive through Times Square (which seems insane to me, by the way.)
Just got hired a PU and D driver , is that the same as a feeder? also what do you think about T force? is it still going to be run the same? nobody really answers that question. they were pitching the union the pay and the benefits before I hired but nobody really knows whats going to happen with it being T force. do you think the union will stay intact? and insgiht would be very helpful!
If you work in Feeders you would be working directly out of a sorting hub, T Force is now it’s own entity but is still union and a union is only as strong as it’s membership, get involved, voice your concerns and learn labor law language the best you can to know your contract. As far as pay Feeders is the highest, Air drivers are a different class and a bit lower pay if that helps. Feeders nationwide has a master contract then different districts within the national have a supplemental contract that is voted on also
i live in northern NJ and just got my class A CDL. would i be able to get a job as a feeder driver off the street new. or do i need to start from package car?
Hello. I Currently have 2 n’ a half years with UPS as a package handler, & just got my truckers license. Any possibility I could get into feeder driving fairly quickly?
around 14:40 you mentioned to get out and I always mentioned to the drivers to post trip the trailer you are inbounding so it can be brought up to dispatch or writing it on the clipboard if that is still given to the driver.
We all know that trick. Saves an hour or two at times. Hell I even get off at the last exit before the toll. Cross over and get back on on the other side.

Amazing representation of the 43rd trip outstanding job. Just wish you had a bay where you need to rub the pole and blindside back lol
Making my blood pressure rise, hate NYC driving, Brook, Man, and Bronx always gave me a headache/ Taking a 53, always made a long day.
Thank you for making this video 🙏🏼 NYC can be very intimidated especially on a feeder truck. I’m putting my transfer soon! Be safe!

Love those automatic trucks now🥰 Well unless i'm in a Large Car with a big Cat or 500 Detroit. Other than that, those new automatics will spoil you🤣👍🏿

Thanks for this detailed video. I have a little more confidence now with the bid I got next week going there from ALLPA 👍
We need a day in the life of a feeder driver for the next video
I just got a bid running to that Manhattan from betpa starting this Sunday, thanks for the video
Take your time and be safe, Shifters up there are good people, any trouble don’t be afraid to ask.
I don’t go over the GW often, but I’ll have to keep that trick in mind.
That place looks like a nightmare. Def need some patience there
I hope they give the drivers some slack rubbing the trailer. The poles and limited space for a 53' looks tough. Coming from a LTL guy.
There’s a little unwritten rule at 43rd, “rub the gray not the brown”. No 53’s go to the city hubs only 48’s
