I love the anime tea so i came here from her community post, but I wish i wasnt late to this because eureka seven is in my top three anime for sure. I also appreciate that you talked about the misconception on mecha because the genre is primarily political and is tied to themes of war especially. Eureka7 came out during the war on terror and had the main cast be eco terrorists with the show focusing on environmentalism and colonialism which was a big topic when the US invaded the middle east for oil. Eureka's kids are also a reference to the three kids from gundam that were orphans of the war taken in by the main heroine who was only a teenager.
I remember seeing it on YTV in Canada in 2005/06 and didn't pay much attention. Then rediscovered it when I was 18 in 2012 and I WAS LIKE WOAH. Then I forgot about it and re-watched last year and love it even more lol. The OST has been on my phone since 2012 and i still listen to it a lot.
“I’m that person, it’s who I am” never change homie 😂☕️ Oooo the drunken women in anime is so real and I never really thought of that 🧐 now I have to go watch that video RUN WITH THE WIND MENTION YESSUH 🙌🏽 FELT on the attempt to give a simple version of her story 😂 it’s so hard to try and give a brief explanation of something you’re putting a lot into “Cults R’ Us” is wild lmao LAND OF THE LUSTROUS MENTION TOO??? My favorite manga 🥹 “I definitely maybe have seen this” 😂 so real Mecha anime definitely gets WAAAY too much hate. I’ve been planning on watching a TON and making a video series to show it more love TREASURE PLANET IS SO GOATED 🙌🏽🙌🏽 “He could be 40” 😂 I’m getting more into 2000’s anime so I’m sold and its been added to the list I really enjoyed this episode. Another great one 🙌🏽 I’ll be tuning into the next episode for sure and starting Eureka Seven soon
Eureka 7 has been one of my favorite series for a long time. I even had the entire OST on my mp3 player as a kid. But I also like mecha anime in general. A lot of the fashion in Eureka 7 is inspired by 60s fashion, specifically mod fashion. Although mod (and Gidget) started in the 50s, a lot of the most memorable outfits are from the 60s. Also Gidget and Moondoggie, characters in the show, are named after characters in a series that started in '57. Idk about Renton's clothes though. Skate culture I guess?
Eureka7 a classic that needs to get a resurgence, so greatful for AnimeTea talking about it. Been a Decade since i last watched it when it 1st came out 💀😭 Also randomly, id say the most recent Gundam anime, The Witch From Mercury reminds me alot of Eureka 7. Having strong themes of both Romance & War, in a mecha anime. So definitely a sign of what my favourite anime tend to be about. Just Gundam Witch is Euraka7's LesbianCousin in the romance category (its a yuri romance)
That novel sounds so interesting! Also the name Ambrosia is so pretty and unique! Also sending writing vibes ✨ I've heard of Eureka Seven before but never knew what it was about! Air-reka is how it's supposed to be pronounced?? Oh LOL! And I never knew it was an original anime! Probably because I heard of it later and the manga was probably out already lol
Oh that was my work account whoops 🧍🏾♀️ *Ahem anyway* A full rewatch of something you saw as a kid really touches you differently! You get the full scope of feelings and messages! Tbh I saw the designs and thought the same thing about it being like Evangelian 😅 I didn't know it had romance and diversity. You've got my attention 👀 And it's true, people hate Mecha anime, I'm not sure why though? How do we like Transformers but dislike Mecha? Giant Robots are cool!
Thanks for having me Lisa! Go watch Eureka Seven if you like romance and sci-fi or want to give mecha a try!

I just rewatched Eureka 7. I remember the first time I watched it back in 2005. It would play right after samurai champloo in adult swim.

I just randomly thought about moondoggie and gidget today and low and behold! 😭🖤
