Given how popular one piece is, I wouldnt be surprised if they released an "effects part set" which would include alternate arms and legs that showcase Luffy's devil fruit abilities.

Maybe even a gear 3 arm but that's probably going to be its own figure

My favorite luffy design is the one from water seven, he has dark blue jean shorts and the red vest, simple outfit but it matched luffys first transformation so well.

Yeah the entry level priced characters (usually protagonists) is something Bandai has been doing for a while. If I remember correctly it started back in 2018 with Kamen Rider Build who Bandai advertised as being $25 (every other retail release was around $35-$40) at the time however he only came with hands, his main weapon came with his bike (which was p-Bandai). Even now with the recent Geats release split the main weapon with magnum boost (base form) & his entry form. I guess the entry level priced releases have been successful since it seeped over to the anime/manga stuff.
I remember when the build Figuarts was announced at that price point. Just a bit more them a marvel legend was amazing
The Big 3 refers to the 3 most popular manga in shonen jump after Dragon Ball ended. One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach. They are all great (including Dragon Ball) but my favorite is one piece, with bleach coming in as a close second
So stoked for this line! I hope next year is filled with monthly releases, until it eventually becomes another SHF Dragon Ball type of line for Bandai.
i was so psyched for this figure but that sad knee joint is such a huge bummer. i was looking forward to displaying him in his gear 2 pose
I think this is the only figure that I can do the gear 2 pose
there is a hotfix for it. if you want it you can easily fix the knee articulation and the shorts hinge. figure becomes way better

I definitely want a pre timeskip luffy. I like the post timeskip look but I prefer the old school look. One piece is my favorite out of the big 3. There is so much content and world building in one piece that no other anime has for me. Its a shame this figure isn't perfect but for the price i'm happy with it.
Definitely old look is better. The art style was better too before the time skip imo. Loved the cartoony look it had.
I’m really hoping they fix this figures problems before they make that pre timeskip look.
A pre-timeskip Luffy has a lot of reuse options too because of how many of his outfits were color swaps lol.

I remember SHF first made One Piece figures over 10 years ago and haven’t made one until recently, and went on hiatus longer than Sentai/Power Rangers Figuarts did. With One Piece being one of the biggest Shonen manga, there should be high demand for more figures from series. Unfortunately the first release of One Piece SHF had a lot of negative reviews with both Japanese and International to point that it stop Bandai from making more SHF for One Piece and focus more on Figuarts Zero for One Piece instead.

I want a pre-timeskip look for Luffy. Nothing against this look, but as a kid, I never got up to the timeskip, so I have nostalgia for the OG outfit. Still getting mine soon, though.
For shonen, I gotta go Dragon Ball then the old big three, Naruto, One Piece then Bleach, in that order. Dragon Ball set the mold for everything else, for good and for ill, and it exists within its own bubble. Naruto really honed in on the teen coming of age part of shonen even though the story takes a dive, the pacing is awful and the morals are messed up. One Piece is just fun but I never got too into it, but it probably has the most well-balanced cast. Bleach is... Bleach. It has some cool designs but I just don't really care about it.
Honestly, since getting back into anime, I've found myself enjoying recent shonen more than I thought I would, because I am fully willing to admit classic shonen has a ton of flaws. The pacing is obviously better without the need to pad everything out, but they're also just doing more to play with shonen tropes. Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen (to a lesser degree) do a lot for me right now. There's still stuff I don't care about like My Hero Academia and Black Clover, but I enjoy the good stuff much more than most older shonen, despite growing up with the older stuff and having nostalgia for it.
I'm excited to begin collecting all the build a figure pieces for Luffy
I don’t think the big 3 is based on popularity. OP, Naruto, and Bleach were just given that name since they were all happening at the same time, based on what I was told anyway
Wish we got even just one swappable hand that is his wrist stretched out. Doesn't even need to be articulated if they don't want to include a stand, just... something to show his powers. The knees are a shame too, I expected to have him either leaping or squatting, but I guess Bandai made that choice for me.
But honestly, at the price point and being the first figure in what will obviously be a longrunning line, it still seems to be an excellent figure. Can't wait to get mine later this month, and hopefully they make the Straw Hats easy enough to get and don't go P-Bandai for like half of them.
I preordered him and Yamato. Can’t wait.
For the love of god give us a snakeman! 😂 I cannot wait for this to come to the UK. Got a few months yet. Gunna get the monster trio for sure and that gear 5 Luffy looks great aswell.

I haven't been following One Piece at all but I'd say I like this outfit. Kinda reminds me of SSJ4 Goku: red, blue and yellow, lol.
Out of the big three my favorite is Bleach. The story isn't that great but I love Kubo's character design and art style.
Can't wait to get mine. I hope its legs aren't too loose because they look really thin.

the shorts are a shrunk version of the IW luffy thats why the hinge is there but that toy also had double jointed knee but there easy to mod to unlock the knees
I was REALLY looking forward to this release. I just got mine and I gotta say, I am a bit disappointed and glad I didn't spend 50 / 60 or more. I think this figure is a bit over complicated dessign wise. I would think simplifying the shoulder joint would be cheaper instead of the system they used. With how the shoulders are, I feel like it will snap off if I move it too much or I can't move in a preferable pose. Personally, I feel their attempts at using soft plastic have been misses. Similar to Beast Gohan, it makes the joints harder to use.

Pretime skip is my favorite too. I'm cool with this one too though for now. Of all the actual big 3, One Piece. Dragonball is before Big 3 is a thing to me but it'd be a little above Onepiece for me for the nostalgia.

Bleach was always my favorite. I just missed OP and then it was overwhelming to follow. Still like some of the character designs though, really hoping for a white beard. I couldn't get the VAH one. Bounce man gear 4 is another big want

The big 3 are Naruto bleach and one piece.
The reason why is because those 3 ran Shonen jump for years while nothing else could get it’s footing.
Dragonball is the grand father to them as it was already over when those 3 started

This is one of the more questionable release, because the shoulder tried to be like revoltech joints, but they failed miserably because they put it deep inside the socket, overall the figure could've been better. bandai did a good job with its paint job and sculpt, other than that i hope sanji, and Zoro doesn't get the same treatment

so I got this figure in Japan after a few days when it got released, but after posing with it for like a week the crotch leg joint got really lose, you can never imagine how lose is it, can anyone tell me how to make the joint tighter?

Frim what I've seen the hinge on the back of the shorts doesn't move due to paint freezing up the joint

the knee kills this figure for me. I hope the East Blue version has fixed articulation

Even if Dragon Ball (Z) has a special place in my heart, my favorite Shonen is Naruto.
I hope they make a Gear 4 Bounce Man eventually, also Dragon Ball is my favorite of the big series but One Piece is definitely a close runner up

Hate hate hate HATE the pegs that attach the legs to teh crotch and the ribbon, its a cylindrical peg NOT a ball peg, and my one’s legs falls out every single time i try to pose it. So my figure falls apart.

I think Naruto “might’ be my favorite of the big 3 + dragon ball but I’m not sure as each has things I like & dislike. Until recently I had only watched One Piece consistently up until Chopper joined the crew and a few random arcs later on though I’m now rewatching it due to the live action hype. Not sure where to rank it yet and I’ve been losing some interest at the Skypia arc, though I hear that’s not unusual.

FYI, dragon ball isn't part of the shonen jump's big 3. Though, it is the father of the big 3. Because the big 3 (one piece, naruto and bleach) starts around when dragon ball z or maybe even gt ended.

Pre- timeskip Luffy all the way for me. Of the big 3 I would have to say One Piece, even though I quit the manga years ago after Going Merry ‘died’. Collecting all those volumes without any idea of when the story would end just became too difficult. Never cared about watching the anime as I hate fillers. But now I’ve started again reading digitally (still very early in the story though, the Alabasta Arc). I love Dragonball (when Goku was little) but after the Frieza saga the series became a parody of itself with all the ridiculous power-ups and new Saiyan forms. And it only got worse with GT and Super, not even worth the attention anymore. Naruto was fine but nothing more. Never cared about Bleach.
I do think Shaman King also deserves some credit. Sure, it’s an extremely simple story, basically just a tournament arc, but I loved the spirituality displayed in the manga, with different cultures, religions and philosophies being brought to attention which are topics that interest me. And I dug the artstyle a lot, which was simple but cool. Wouldn’t have mind action figures of those characters back in the day.
Dragon ball all the way down. I am 35 started watching it when I was 7/8 we had uncensored french language version with polish lector. First DB, then Z, and Freeza saga was the "chief kiss" Especially till the end,Vegeta death with original soundtrack, Goku supposed death. We didnt know back then that the series will be continued, there was no internet etc. Like many otheres around the globe-thanks to DB I started working out,drawing etc. It may be dated, there are better shows nowdays, but. For me DB was first, and always will be. DB S is garbage,but nothing will change the awesomness that was DB, DBZ.

DBZ is my favorite. But I’m in the 500s for my first watch through of one piece and I like it better then Naruto.

This is my Favorite Luffy Outfit but he's missing the cape. Also the Big 3 refers to the shows that took over AFTER Dragon Ball so it doesn't count. It's Bleach, Naruto, One Piece. Bleach is my Favorite of the three then One Piece than Naruto.

This is not a 9 out of 10 figure based on aesthetics and the faceplates. The Sanji figure is way better than this aesthetically. What are you going to give that, 9.5?
