    Thank you for explaining the Japanese Yen so simply!! I planned a trip to Japan in Dec. 2020, but because of Covid, it was canceled. I am not starting to plan another trip to Japan, and one of my concerns was understanding the Dollar vs the Yen. I have no worried now!! Thanks again!!

    I was already making the connection before you added the decimal points and zeros. Nice!
    I’ve been wanting to visit Japan for a while, but I’ve recently decided to make it a reality. Studying up and educating myself on, language, culture, and cost. I doubt I’ll be fluent in the Japanese language, but hopefully I’ll be able to get by.

      BTW, I’m testing out a new venture and figured you’d like it:
      Experience Japan service.
      $97/month. Cancel anytime.
      - Interactive Live Tour: staff, Japanese, people, purchasing.
      - Japanese language class (native Japanese teacher)
      - Japanese conversational class (native Japanese)
      - Language exchange group (speak ENG/JPN with a native)
      - Q&A session with foreigners who made Japan their home
      - Q&A session with Lindo Korchi
      - Educational resources: study abroad, scholarships, accommodation, etc.
      - More things to come
      We need a minimum of 25 participants by next week so that it can launch in June. You in?
      P.S. Know of anyone else who would be interested? This community will bring TONS of value to people who want to come and experience Japan but can’t because its so expensive.

    Japan will replace all it's currency with new coins and bills. Coins start this year in 2021 and bills in 2024.
    Also I think you can request the 2000 yen bill at the bank. They are still made or were at least a few years ago.

    In 2022, the value of the Russian ruble and the Japanese yen starts to even out meaning there is little difference between them.
    2008 value for both currencies
    ₽1 = ¥4.55
    $1 = ₽23.79
    $1 = ¥108.17
    ₽5,000 = $210.17
    ¥10,000 = $92.45
    2022 value for both currencies
    ₽1 = ¥1.09
    $1 = ₽106.01
    $1 = ¥115.46
    ₽5,000 = $47.17
    ¥10,000 = $86.61

    In simpler terms convert everything into cents. So for an example $20 = 2,000 cents. Then replace the word cents with Yen

  • @MikeTXBC
    @MikeTXBC 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm not going to Japan, but I found this video because I always wondered: "Why do some currencies, like Japanese Yen, lack cents?" In the US and Canada (for instance), you hear about various dollar and coin (cents) denominations, yet in Japan you never hear about that. In North America, something might $58.99, but you'll never see something marked like that (with the cents) in Japan, so I was wondering why that is and if North America is unusual for having cents or maybe other nations are unusual for not having it.
    Regardless, I found your video to b quite helpful and interesting. You're excellent at teaching and explaining the differences between American and Japanese currencies.

    • @shob8516
      @shob8516 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      North America isn't unusual for having subunits ("cents"), pretty much all currencies have 100 subunits. However many currencies like the Philippine Peso have lost so much value that they no longer produce physical money for these subunits since they're worthless, although they still exist in the digital world.
      Where the Yen differs is that their subunits no longer exist at all, not even in digital banking, which to my knowledge the Yen is the only currency like this but makes me wonder why we even have subunits in the first place? At the end of the day money is just a number to measure value, there's no real reason to divide it between dollars and cents, Japan's economy works just fine with their singular unit, the Yen

    • @alvexok5523
      @alvexok5523 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@shob8516There are many countries that don't have subunits in their currency such as pesos in Mexico, and baht in Thailand

      Thanks for commenting. Unfortunately, you are correct now, since it has changed quite a bit.
      BTW, I’m testing out a new venture and figured you’d like it:
      Experience Japan service.
      $97/month. Cancel anytime.
      - Interactive Live Tour: staff, Japanese, people, purchasing.
      - Japanese language class (native Japanese teacher)
      - Japanese conversational class (native Japanese)
      - Language exchange group (speak ENG/JPN with a native)
      - Q&A session with foreigners who made Japan their home
      - Q&A session with Lindo Korchi
      - Educational resources: study abroad, scholarships, accommodation, etc.
      - More things to come
      We need a minimum of 25 participants by next week so that it can launch in June. You in?
      P.S. Know of anyone else who would be interested? This community will bring TONS of value to people who want to come and experience Japan but can’t because its so expensive.

    I just need a way to confirm my math is right.
    Google keeps saying it’s 670.whatever.
