  • Skill level two for this kit.
very easy to build with out the motor.
The motor pcb board has now failed on this kit.
I will install a Esu decoder to this kt in the future
    3/9/21
I will now be retro fitting a loco decoder direct to the motor.
If I was building another kit of this model number I would not install the motor.

Really well designed kit. Pretty nice wind mill. I have built a crane from Kibri year ago or so and the build process was mostly snap-in system too. Easy and fast to build... I like that idea... 🙂 Have a lot of fun with the trains and scenery! 🙂

That windmill looks so good. Shame it was tricky to install that motor. In the end looks great. Laurie.

Good work Jim! I've built this kit myself years ago, made it for an East Prussian diorama - really a great kit as most of Kibri. Cheers Joachim

    Hi Jim,
I think you were surprised how big it was but must say it looks the part and as you say very easy to build excluding the motor installation which looks a bit of an after thought but you did get it to work well. I may be wrong here and I hope you will tell me if I am but I think the top bit with the motor in should be able to revolve so with those big timbers down to the walkway the miller could move the sails into the wind, newer designs had a solid sail at the back to do it automatically but a cracking model and is just right in that position on your layout as always keep well and safe.
    Cheers Robert.

      Hi Robert,
Yeah I think you are right on the opperation of the real life mill of this kind, the top section was turned by hand when required {I think a 180 turn would take around 30mins } so the mill sails could turn into the wind head on so to get maximum power.
I think the old engineering of wood ,stone and metal macanics are amazing in the old mills going back 500 years or so..
Thanks Robert for watching, and take care of yourself and family...Jim

Well, I will say it, even if I sound repetitive... that is brilliant work, Jim! A fantastic job and I love the talk through as you do it. It definitely fits the bill for the layout and just adds another cool element. It may... MAY... inspire me to finally try to fix the motor on my windmill and have it going. Best wishes!

Hi Anthony , many thanks, yeah if it's the same make of windmill good luck with the motor.
I was not going to bother with a build vid but on ckecking TH-cam no one has done a build vid on this kit so I did one anyway...

I looked at that model for a child's underbed layout. It was too tall unfortunately but it is a nice kit

The struggle at 18:20 is about the most difficult part to understand the way in which that should be mounted, and the equal length of the horizontal beams is making it a lot more difficult.

Hey Jim looks pretty cool their kits always stand out well on layouts sadly the plastic kit will become a thing of the past with the introduction of laser I think pal.

    • @hovermotion
      @hovermotion  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi..Thanks...yeah I thought a lot more laser kits would be around from the big manufactures in 2021 but no only a small amounts of kits in laser cut wood.
But there are many U.k cottage companys makeing laser kits but in 1/76 scale...and in N scale which is good for your layout...
      All good fun...
Got more pre built plastic kits on the way...

Are the parts in the box at 10.06 minutes included with the 38248 motor?
