- Cringe is my home. I live in it. That is why I love it. It takes one to know one.
Thank you Josh and Alonso for being in the video! Let me know if you want to see more of them. I plan on getting David in a video again, too.
This video was such a blast to record, but editing it was a nightmare. Perhaps I'll hire an editor for videos like these!
I have not put people's videos/username in the description/video to respect privacy. Let me know if you want to be mentioned (if you were included in the video).

No easter egg today. I am exhausted. Pulled an all nighter for this. Editing is no joke! Goodnight! Well, good afternoon. Lol! - เพลง
I'll never forget that video I once saw on tiktok, where a women had her mouthpiece twisted by 180° with her Reed being at the top.... And she acted like she was playing it while the background music was literally a violin. Nothing tops that.
I need to see this.
Please send link bro😂
@@inspir.edmusic me too lol
I can't find it.... I saw it a few months ago, when I just randomly typed saxophone into the searching bar
We actually reviewed that one! But I figured everyone already saw it haha
As a sax player, I can say the squeaks are not the problem, the thing is that after you squeak and realize it, you get nervous and start messing up other things
True, very true
When you squeak, hold it out and make a face like you're playing some really high altissimo note.
yes yes yes!
FR BRUH 💀😭😭🔥🔥🔥🔥✨✨✨✨
Dude on the right is a solid comedian
Dude on the left is a solid cutie
He's like 12 and 43 at the same time

My homie Alonso!
How have I never seen that expert village clip?!????
Good to see you here bro
I guess he is too much of an expert we aren’t worthy
@@Saxologic amen
Probably because it has 16 views lol
Glad to see someone practicing safe sax
Underrated comment.
Yes. Practice safe sax and clean your instrument!
Sax improv to Johnny be good.
I just made the 69th like. 😏
Lol great comment. :)
I’m in my second year playing the sax and although I fit into all the cringe categories I can say the saxophone has humbled me. You’re gonna squeak you’re gonna sound terrible but it slowly gets less terrible with time.
I feel that, been playing about 5 years and while I've come a long way there's still things I'd like to improve on
@@weeaboocentral4921 I've been playing for 20 years... It doesn't get much better.
Is it any worse than all these players trying to imitate what is supposed to be cool? I would rather squeak than sound just like every other 1950s sax player. I only listened to guitar players and don't ever want to sound like every other boring jazz solo sax. It is like having to have a 50 year old dull lacquered horn to be cool. Finding your own sound is called art. If you want to be a paint by number artist be sure to copy. My advice is do not listen to other sax players. And especially to critics that do not play that well.. In the 60s great bebop players were forcing themselves to unlearn all licks and sounds they were supposed to have. I cringe more at listening to this barrage of sound that all sounds the same. The trick is to play like others and then destroy their copycat coolness with original sounds and ideas. This makes them run to the study books that lead to the homogeneous sax sounds that make people hate jazz. Be yourself and quit following the so called teachers that are stuck in the time warp of complementing some player because he sounds just like Coltrane or any other great player of the PAST. And don't forget it was Miles that set in motion the rebirth of scales and rhythms that kept changing and was the antithesis of guys like Marcellus W that live in the past. Squeaks are what gave over time the upper harmonics we drool over now. That being said I need to hear you can play in tune before I listen to your experiments in scale deviations that corrupt and can excite those that understand art is expanded through the need to see and hear new methods. Don't aim to sound like somebody you admire, sound like someone that will be recognized immediately as you and then you are on your way to true greatness in your art. Or not and succumb to the applause good imitation.
I’d give this video a solid 7/10, could pump it up to 8 if all 3 had their arms awkwardly crossed the whole video.
LMAO
💀🔥✨
6:52 It’s incredible how well Saxologic has kept his spirit
Yes that’s true I don’t love it I think it’s a big band lol but I’m not sure what what color is it lol but I just got a new one lol lol but I don’t think I
You don’t need to be a saxophone player to know that destroying instruments is bad.

GUYS aaaaduys
4:12 this guy definitely warms up by speed running every jazz song ever
Ugh. 04:16. Working on my piano performance degree, there was *always* a sax nightmare in the practice room next to me, spewing out random free jazz for hours at a time 🥶 any time of day, any day of the week, it's like a lunatic talking in your ear
[scrolls through looking for my tutorial on Whip/Nae Nae 😨}
I love your chanel it helped me get started on saxophone.
@@joshuadaugherty2267 same dr selfridge was and probably still is great
I like Josh and Alonzo. Put them in more videos.
🙏🏼
I like you too Fred Tyu
The person that played Donna Lee has like 100 videos of him playing it exactly like that on his channel
Lmfao I love it
Playing legend of zelda music as the background... a man of culture you are
This made my day. I have been self-critical to the extreme lately and this reminded me of where I'm no longer at in my playing. Time to go practice. Thanks guys!
"Cringe is my home"
Me too, me too.
F
Had a teacher whose hands are beastly. He plays keys and some other stuff of course. I think it's an older musician thing
Hey to be fair that squeak was in front of like 6 college professors. I think that adds cringe points smh.
Been there
Was a terrible camera angle. Hahahha
Wow funny seeing you here nick
Man, that squeak hurt my soul, and gave my flashbacks. OUCH. He was jammin though
Hey Nick
9:50 : Junior high kids when they think they're good...💀💀
Well everyone has to go though this phase at some point😂
At least hes that confident😂 respect
Funnily enough, the French astronaut who played the sax also played the French national anthem after last year's Olympics, and sounded respectable!
17:51 when you practice a 16th note lick after eating taco bell
I remember finding a video of (I think) a wwbw sales guy demoing selmer mouthpieces, and he clearly wasn’t a saxophonist. I think they’ve since taken the video down, but I still think about it to this day.
Here’s how it goes with scoring:
1st scorer - high/low
2nd scorer - opposite of first
3rd scorer - middle of first and second
For a solo I did at the level before state in highschool, I got so nervous...to keep things short, I started breathlessly sobbing while playing in front of the judges and some peers. It sounded atrocious 😂
I love how josh is quieter and Alonso is louder! It brings a great dynamic
listen at 0:04 with your eyes closed and just sit back and enjoy the sounds
how did that kid not notice that there is an alien growing in his mouthpiece
I love the collective reaction at 5:41😂
I used to hear this busker downtown all the time. The only tune he played was Summertime but he never played the last 4 bars.it drove me nuts!
The guy on the right is hilarious! I would love to see him in more videos
9:27 should be a official demonstration to newbies on why to wet the reed before playing
It's not that hard to put the reed in your mouth while you put your sax together and get your stuff set up ...
10:53 it's either a really good thing or a really bad thing when your bandmate looks at you like that jfc
I had a good laugh, but also an unexpected confidence boost in my saxophone skills, from this video. Great stuff!
🤣The way they all look up at 5:41 does it for me!
The last one was the stuff of nightmares - it reminds me of the sax solo on "My Lovely Horse" by Father Ted.
4:14 I’ve got a friend that literally plays like this
We all need that friend
Phew, I’m relieved that none of my sax clips were shown in this video xd
Josh and Alonso, seem like cool guys.. I'd like to hear them play. Love your vids, kid. Keep em comin.
Guy at 4:14: Plays Donna Lee
Chris Potter: Why do I hear boss music
The least that the guitar accompanist on "Lily Was Here" could've done is detuned to make Miss Slovakia sound better! ;>) Great video!
the clip at 10:06 made me shrivel up and i have only started learning saxophone 4 weeks ago
Alonso is friggin HILARIOUS 😂😂😂 love that guy!
I'm late to this party but the 3 of you reacting is beautiful...especially to Shrek's mouthpiece and the last player. More, please.
into the clouds was the f irst piece in my marching band show freshman year :O
I literally had to use my hand to cover up my screen when you showed that mouthpiece. Unbelievable.
I know same. I couldn't look at it
I've seen one like that in person 🥲
7:00 glad we have confirmation you've just always been this way. cringe yet free. i envy it
I just want to go back to 7:55 and mention that he was properly using the bebop scale. That’s a big win for a high school freshman.
All my sax pain in one video
2:58 gave me incredible pain 😞😞
But you’re doing the world a favor so hats off to that
I was expecting at least one video with Careless Whisper!! Funny stuff! 🤣
17:50 BRO I WAS EATING
I’m sorry LOL
i just cleaned my sax, but i'll clean it again after seeing that mouthpiece, geez
The fact that at least one of these people has a framed photo of Luigi gives me hope
such a fun concept, I hope you do it again sometime
Yes bring the guys back. Funny stuff!
That video of you as a child was thee most derpiest, most precious thing 🤣🍪
As a sax player this hurts physically and mentally…please god never let this happen again
i got so excited when i heard the first title bc ive played that song and i was impressed it was the REAL melody
“A out of tune note is a wrong note” - my band teacher
These people really prove her message
So a bending of the 3rd among other notes 😂that makes the blues is wrong. Get a new teacher. This is why you should listen to guitar players as it is the alteration of the intonation that requires the ear and the technique which makes you and your audience feel the emotion. Ask a guitar player to some blues with and without bending notes down or up depending on feel and witness this. Those that teach usually can't play the blues well. This what's Miles Davis' first test at an audition for players in his bands; if they could not play gut bucket simple blues, they did not get the gig.
Yes
14:55 I actually got chills lol
7:55… High school freshman??? Killin! Pretty sophisticated lines. Good sense of time and connecting his ideas across the changes.
Alonso has such a great personality
Now I sort of wish there was video from my sophomore year, when my neckstrap broke in the middle of a parade and a bass drummer stepped on my horn before I could get it off the ground.
I haven't laughed this much in a fucking while
Jaws aching, tears running down
thank you
Holy fuck dude you gotta keep Alonso! Dude is hilarious!
The amount of dedication you have to heart as many comments as you do
I love your Luigi painting
the collective look up at 3:39 HAS ME DYING
my cringe moment: i had a zoom audition for a summer music scholarship and i play alto and tenor, so i auditioned on both as i usually do for regions and all states. i got through my alto audition but then my computer started messing up my sound so the judges couldnt really hear me. after 20 MINUTES of computer tech work and a cry break i was able to get to my tenor audition. until i realized after squeaking 4 Fs that i jostled some keys while trying to fix my computer.
I just have to appreciate the Luigi frame in the top left corner, amazing.
Top notch video
i want more of these
9:30 My band director would be like “BLOW AIR WHAT ARE YOU DOING”
Best vid ever made
I laughed a lot, I hope I'm not in a future video for "Try Not To Cringe: Saxophone Edition" lol
Rotisserie Chicken on a saxophone 🤣🤣 omg the guy on the right is hilarious
I have never been able to finish this video
Why would you crush an alto sax bell tho
THAT BELL KNOWS WHAT HE DONE DID
Its a blue sax bell >:0 why not
Cus its blue
tenor is superior, that’s why.
(I mainly play tenor, this is just a joke)
Bari is superior to all
Because the first one was purposeful it was fire. Like something you'd hear in a Shorter head. Or Mingus. Or maybe Henderson
This video is a composite of all the saxophonists who talk trash on the Facebook “Saxophonists” page.
That page exists?
It does. On Facebook
Alonso cracked me up so much 😂
This is absolute gold hahaha
Alonso seems like such a chill dude
If the lead player enters on a different key, I firmly believe the keyboard (backup instruments) player should find the accompaniment key. I grew up ready for anything during that "church" session. Anyone could come up and sing... anyone.
HAHAHAHA 15:09 Shounds like he needs to get somewhere he's in a rush!!
that high school sax solo was so killin
This’ll make you cringe, my eighth grade year, I had my case standing up outside of my school while waiting for the doors to open, (I’m mainly a baritone player) so I had it standing in its feet, and there were these circular stone things that were flat on top outside that people sit on and put their stuff on, it was windy that morning and the case fell over and hit one of the stone circles, and when I opened the case, all of the keys and mechanisms were smashed in, that was about $500 in repairs, that’s the only time I’ve broken a horn,
My theory is that girl didn't know alto is in Eb and played the "same" notes as the guitar lol
This is a good one nice 🔥
I have a theory, at 10:48 in the video we hear the bad church sax. I think that the saxophonist might have practiced on an alto sax or another E♭sax and didn't think about the transposition between E♭and B♭.
What led to this conclusion
Please do more!!😀
Ebic. I also have that Luigi frame
Keep'em commin
The My way guy reminded me to the Mnozil Brass version😂
C'mon! That version of My Way. The best!!
Theo Wanne is my hero too, Alonso
Why do you have so many entertaining friends
5:40 was a lovely moment
Tomorrow I’m going to do my first solo and when I heard that solo and thought y’all would think it was cringey I was scared out of my mind
Took my mouthpiece out of my case and started to frantically clean it after whatever the heck I just saw
