I’m 35 now and I bought a Taylor GS8 when I was 20. For the last 15 years I’ve played every brand of acoustic for one I liked more than my Taylor. I never found one until today when I played and then purchased a Furch Yellow D CR. It’s the nicest guitar I’ve ever played or heard by a large margin. I’m addicted to playing it and will have it my whole life. Thank you so much to this wonderful company. Thanks to all the men and women who work at Furch. Greatly appreciate it with all my heart 🙏❤️

It was roughly 17 years ago...I'll never forget playing an unknown brand name acoustic cutaway with a very large auditorium style body made of unique woods that I didn't quite yet recognize... after playing it for about an hour at the unique stringed instruments store ...I was ruined for life when it came to acoustics! I've played pretty much everything since then, and have not found one nearly as special! It had such unique resonance and harmonic overtones I remember saying to the salesman in the shop..."this thing sings man!" Of course, it was in the similar price range as your new guitar...and of course, with a sigh, I said to the guy I wish I could afford something like that. I honestly felt I was undeserving considering I was not that good of a guitar player...but I also felt a guitar like that could probably change a person's life...inspire you to write amazing songs! So...I totally understand the feeling you're having right now with that guitar in your hands! I must finally say that though I love playing my electrics, I don't think anything can compare to an acoustic of that quality resonating in your hands...it's purely magical! Enjoy every minute! 😎🎸

I had never heard of Furch guitars and was looking for something a little special. A treat for 55 years of playing. Having played literally hundreds of - so called - top end instruments...I played one single chord on my new Furch and knew instantly this was the one. If you have never played a Furch , then I suggest you do because there is voodoo magic in these guitars .... and mine was made especially for me...all I had to do was find it.

Furch uses composite plastic saddles called Tusc rather then bone on the guitars I have seen. Bone allows more string energy to penetrate the body. The composite plastic tusq does allow a guitar to sound better with light gauge strings whereas with bone it would need mediums.

I own 26 years old Furch guitar made of resonant spruce - one of the lower series. They told us, there is a chance that the guitar could lost its loudness and clarity in a few years. But despite all the scratches and dents over the years, it still sounds absolutely amazing! In fact I believe it sounds even better than on the beginning. I love that guitar so much.

I have two Stonebridge guitars- which is the name Furch are marketed under in the US. Both are Grand Auditorium cutaways like this one. One is cedar top with rosewood back and sides, and one is Adirondack spruce with mahogany back and sides. These are unbelievable guitars for the money- and since they aren't well known, used ones are the best bargain on the market. I got my adi/hog for $1200 used. I have two Martins- an OM-28v and a D-18- which are both great, but the Furch/Stonebridge are my go-to guitars.

  • @janarthanamsubramaniam
    @janarthanamsubramaniam 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Initially when referred by a seller I rejected the offer. Never heard of Furch in my life. But when I tried it (Red series Indian Rosewood back and sides and Adirondack Spruce top) I was mesmerised by its clarity, it’s tone and overall excellent build quality. Bought it the same day. I’m sure there are other excellently sounding guitar out there in the world build by other great builders. But the alluring price point for such a superbly build guitar cut the deal for me. Comes with an equally modern exquisite case.

Furch (distributed as Stonebridge in North America) are amazing quality at a great price. I was searching for a new acoustic for over a year. $4k Taylors and Martins weren't a big enough improvement over my current acoustic to make the leap. Once I tried a few of the Furch guitars, I was immediately taken back by the tone. My $4k Furch is in the ballpark of a $10k Taylor/Martin...and better looking. Try one out, if you can. Paul, thanks so much for this review. I, too, thought it too good to be true but they are REALLY well constructed guitars. I like that you compared them to your Collings and Martin as these are WAY more expensive. While both of your OTHER guitars are pinnacles in their own rights, you omit to mention the Furch’s pick up and live playing abilities. I am looking for a QUALITY guitar with a GOOD case and the ability to PLUG N PLAY. In my mind, the FURCH ticks all of the boxes unless IAM missing something? I absolutely LOVE your videos, courses and general input to all things acoustic guitar. And if ever I “make it” as a singer/songwriter, you’ll definitely get a mention! Dank u wel, mijneer!

@@BreathingToSurvive I swear it's something Agalloch or Drudkh, but I can't figure out what. Could be something completely different too of course, but that's all I've been listening to and it sounds so familiar. Edit: I might be thinking of Sowilo Rune, and it hardly sounds similar.

I've heard of the Furch guitar for some time now. I could tell as soon as I saw that MOP inlay down at the bottom of the fret board that it was a Furch.
They are truly beautiful looking and sounding. The Furch model sold in america is called Stonebridge. I think they are slowly fading them out to sell just the Furch model. I Enjoy your videos!

I used to work in a guitar shop in SW England, we were the furch dealer for our area. I can honestly say, the best acoustic guitars I have ever played. I would buy one over a Martin every time. For those on a tighter budget the G21 model is great.

Loved the video. As I was watching it, I was struck by the fact that almost everything you were describing about it, and that I was hearing from the guitar, were virtually identical to what has been written about the Taylor K14ce Builder’s Edition. Gorgeous craftsmanship and detailing, great projection, amazing ability to stay in tune up the neck (results of the new V-class bracing), great tone and playability. I think it would be amazing to see you do a side by side comparison. I own the Taylor K14ce, and aside from it having Koa back and sides, most of the other characteristics are extremely similar. I am not suggesting that one is better than the other, and I love that you are reviewing guitars by smaller manufacturers. I would just love to see two such wonderful instruments evaluated side by side. (Would also like to see you show how you record the guitars). Keep up the great work!

I have been playing for 57 years and am having some trouble trying to think of any of the hundreds of high end guitars i have owned that sounded or played any better than the Merida. I wish i had known of these guitars sooner. Of course they are very beautiful to look at also and so much a pleasure to play. Thank you for your great review and excellent playing..

Have to be honest there are two guitars I’ve touched that hit me inside when I played. One is the Taylor I own with spruce/rosewood combo the other was the Taylor KOA. Everyone seems to be partial to Martin I recommend putting a Taylor 4 series and up in your hand and strum it. Some of them will really shock you. My Taylor is the new vbrace system and I’m unsure if I like it more or less than their previous bracing. It’s different and seems to be more in tune than the older system but the older adds a traditional overtime’s which can be sexy too. I do like the full sound coming from this guitar your playing. It seems full from crisp highs to deep bass in parts. Why I went rosewood and spruce. My Taylor was not 5k either like you mention USA costs. It was 2.5k and hand built in california. 5k on most USA guitars is the very top model which in my opinion is a waste of money for differences between their mid series and top series. Usually it’s just fancy bindings and inlays which don’t help sound at all

BLESS YOU SIR! This is the brand that changed my LIFE in guitar retail. It was FURCH that changed my perspective entirely and made me realise just what a wonderful world existed outside of the mainstream high volume brands. I was a little ahead of you because that was about 15 years ago! However - I remember feeling exactly the same way!! I felt guilty that i considered myself a specialist yet how could I not know? The reality is we can only know what we experience and very often what we experience is controlled by media and big business. I cannot thank you enough for bringing exposure to this wonderful company - your words, although far more sinsinct and elequant than mine , express my views down to the tee. What a wonderful, genuine video. Now you have experienced this guitar, check out my other "babies" as I call them. The Furch Yellow G CRC and then under £1000 you have the Furch blue G CMC. You will not believe the experience you are having!!! Anyway - Hi from England and thank you once again.

i bought 2 guitars summer 2019 on the same day both perfect out of the box. No adjustment necessary other than a quick intonation adjustment.
Oddly a 2019 LP Classic was one, despite all my QA worries over Gibson and a Taylor V class acoustic which was absolutely perfect.
Have loved these 2 to death, and really appreciate when something just works, ive put money and hours into getting guitars to play 'better'.

Its better. Handmade by master luthiers only, Taylor is all factory built to be able to meet the demand. Also goes to a lesser degree for the higher end models. The sanding of the top during the voicing process to even the tone is something all self respecting luthiers should do, but the big companies stopped doing it to be able to produce faster at the expense of the sound.

Furch guitars are amazing. I know a guy who bought their travel guitar (detatchable(!!!) neck) which costs about 1K ...and sound-wise, especially considering the clarity, it beats the living crap out of my Yamaha FGX which was about 500 bucks.
