I think you have made a really good choice if you keep with the Scania. Looks a brilliant truck. Really like your V8 cab light. You done brilliantly with those fenceposts loadings although not looking great you loaded it all great. Thanks again for a great vlog Scott. Love your truck. Stay safe and take care and keep up the good work.
I think its "hope for the best, and expect the worse"🤣. Great video Scott, and lovely weather as well. Talking about being caught on Google maps, my brother, who drove for Asda, is also caught on Google maps, parked up at an Asda store waiting to be unloaded. I zoomed in, and could just make him out sat in his cab🤣
Hi Scotty, 20:25 in the video if you turned left on the roundabout my depot is on the right. Stanton Logistics keep an eye for me "Stu Little" mumber plate in the windscreen.
Try using the retarder in automatic mode which brings it on when you apply the football slightly. It sounds like it's jumping down too many gears. Remember they are an intelligent box so adapt to the driver so when it's in x hands next ask them to do a gearbox reset so it can then adapt to your style of driving.
I’d always drop the ride height in the Scania. When empty Lower so better handling & looks silly too high, -20 or something like that -15 But at least on the Scania it tells you the height on the dash unlike EVERY other brand. Also Scania has BUTTONS & a remote to lower or raise tractor unit, Unlike every other brand with just a crappy remote & no buttons. Scania really is the best. Even standard entry level Scania’s have buttons, really decent quality radio & the mirrors the correct way round, with the big one at the bottom. Love Scania, dang those headlights are SUPER SUPER BRIGHT.
I've driven Actros's with ride height controls on the dash as well as on the remote, they also had a button that would raise the travel height, as they were low rides, you wouldn't wont to drop them any lower. The position of the mirrors is really down to what you're used to, I've driven many trucks over the years, soon get used to the different mirror position. I'm now used to the small mirror at the bottom, use it a lot in the UK to keep an eye on those drivers sneaking into the blind spot of a LHD truck.
That was an old Hillman Imp mate, the Actros L is the Luxury and largest version, being wider than the normal Actros. They've got monster brakes. Great log again m8
The actros L isnt wider it has some improvements over the old model including better cab insulation and sound proofing plus the drivers seat is mounted lower. Ive seen a new 22 reg actros L with the bigspace cab.and its also available with the gigaspace cab which is as wide as you can get.....the same width as the gigaspace on the mp4 and mp5 modelas for monster brakes ...??? I will know more next month as we have 4 being delivered thru august.
@@marktully745 depending on what model you get, the brakes can be REALLY strong. I don't know if it was officially donr, but one of the Actros' was able to break from 40mph in less distance than a car, which as you know is 36m (12+24). Although that's only when it had an empty trailer on. One YT vid had it can't remember which tho, will try to find it. As for the Mercedes, yes you are right, I got my trucks mixed up (F). The Actros L is just the 'more reliable' and 'more fuel efficient' of the Actros'. Hope delivery of your new truck goes well and thanks for the correction. 👍
Another excellent video Scott, as always! loving the Scania, you did well with the post load, keep up the good work, keep safe and keep enjoying that V8! 😀🚛

Hi Scott, I wonder if your channel member Rachel Wallace is the same person I know who works for Suez out of Evercreech🤔 like you I prefer a manual handbrake, the Volvo paperbank truck with the HIAB has the electronic version and I was having fun trying to remember not to touch it when pulling away just to apply it when I had to take it to Keynsham Friday, gone in to have crane tested, very nice drive, though the heated seat was rather hot for this weather 😳 the usual driver was on holiday so I had a treat😎 have a good week
Great video Scott love watching your vlogs Love the new scania 👌👌🤟🏻🤟🏻 love how you travel around wales 👌👌 I would like to know if I can have a shout out in yah next vlog safe trucking fella hi from the north east I’m in Redcar keep up the good work safe travels
Nonsense. Maybe the case with the wider straps they use in the USA. Doesn't make a blind bit of difference with the narrower UK straps, providing you do them up tight enough. I tension mine bar tight, without a twist, and I've never heard a drumming noise from them.
That ride hight on scania midlift axls, they have done that for a while. When I worked for Heuveltrans there was one R2 (back in 2010) that came new and with it's standard trailer (we didn't do many trailerswaps back then) it was officially too high in the Netherlands if you put the midlift up. Or at least, that's what the main driver of that truck wrote down in case somebody else would drive it on his off days. In the Netherlands trucks are allowed 4m high. But a friend of mine worked for Scania as a mechanic. He said you could have the garage adjust that.
Hey Scott, That was cool to hear you mention me on this video. I've passed the the class 1 theory and hazard perception and just waiting to do my driving and test bud. Look forward to seeing you out there on the road and hope you've had a great time at all the shows you been too?
@@ScottAndrews yeah well it would if the company would just give me my dates for doing my driving. I drive big buses and have driven National express etc so used to large vehicles so should be fine, oh yeah and that actross does look nice matey 😁 Drive safe 👍
The fuel card price is bunker price not retail price we are not allowed to use motorway services to refuel but we can get add blue on the fuel card something i was not aware of until a Texaco attendant mentioned happy days when i found that out
Its not only Scania that doesn't brake trailer when using parkigbrake. Most trucks are like that. But you can pull out the Valve under the parkingbrake then all brakes Will engage. In Volvo you push down the veb for 10 seconds.
Well now that you have settled in to a decent truck you can be excused for sounding like a tang every now and then, that load of fence posts did look a bit sketchy but you did a good job of strapping them down, catch you on the flip flop 😀
You need to put your jack legs down on the low loader or put the trailer brake on as you said because it will lift the drive axle off the ground and if your on a hill it will be off,had 2 drivers do at our place with the new gen scania 😳
Best trailer for that load? High side bulk tipper and just throw them in and tip 'em out, job done. Old car at 4.00 was a Hillman Imp. At that roundabout at 16.10 to your left used to be a hauliers fuel tank made into a full sized Thomas the Tank Engine. Have seen those lift axles skimming the ground and always wondered why they don't lift higher. Good to hear you are joining us on two wheels. What about getting your test passed in time for next years Welsh National Road Rally? It is a fantastic day out even though I fell off at Nefyn with 150 miles to go, still managed a Gold though. Have a great week Scott still keeping an eye open for you if you get north of Birmingham. 🚛👀👍

Volvo's dont put the trailer brakes on aswell. But we always have parking brakes on the front axle and the drive axle. Don't know if your scania has a parking brake on the front axle
Never late in a V8
Thanks for the mention, appreciate your videos as always. Bit late with this because I've been taking a slight hiatus over the summer hols'
That was a Hillman Imp Scott 😁👍

Awesome vlog as always scott Andrews
Thank you Scott Another great video. Enjoyed. as always Thanks again Take care and Stay safe and safe Trucking.
Scott: Thanks, for a good video; really enjoyed it! That classic car was a: Hillman Imp. Take Care.
That's why Scania gives separate stick for trailer brakes in Australia and NZ
the old Scania's in the UK had an extra lever too, don't no why they stopped,
The car was a modified Hillman Imp. Actros L denotes the widest, largest Actros cab available. Excellent vid again.
Scott + Scania V8 = Happiness.
Those Scandinavian trailers you mention with the solid sides but opening doors are made in Finland by Ekeri

There’s a trailer that’s like a curtainsider that has wings instead of curtains. That would be better to use. Or a tipping trailer.

Apparently the boss has mentioned that to the garage. But if we drop the ride hight the midlift would risk touching the floor when raised

In a Daf it works on all wheels.
If you press the handle when its on it releases the trailerbrakes but the unit handbrake stays on.

Great video Scott, how does the scania compare with the Man for fuel
Hi buddy how are you today buddy from Alan in Lowestoft xx 😘
my scannia does put the trailer brakes on with the handbrake, then again it might be different with tandem trailers
Did alright with that dodgy load
Are you getting any fancy curtains for your new truck?
Yes will be getting some made
Does the handbrake not only work on the unit on all wagons I have never heard of it working the trailer
It works on the trailer when pulled with the MAN and Mercs i've driven
What about walking floor trailer.

Another brilliant video Scott I'm going to change my name now to Just Stuart 🤣🤣
🤣 well it works
I would have used a skip for the fence post, its safe !!!!
should have sent a bulk tipper for that lot. what a horrible lash up to try & resolve
Love the video Scott, any modifications coming to the Scania? Maybe a giant set of train horns 🎺🎺🎺
Not sure about horns but looking at a few things
Hi Scott I would keep the scania
I saw you parked up in Builth
at 0:42 did any one els hear the weird L ore is it just me.
stil great vids
Reckon that car was a Hillman Imp, mid-70s.
You need the Stetson braces and some Yipee music now Scott
Maybe your trailer brakes only with mid and front axle
The condition of some of those roads was a bit shocking
Can't help but feel that for those posts it would be better to just load the lot into a container and move them that way.
The new actros L is the largest a actros built so far,
RJ70 JOA unmarked police daf there bud .
👍
Scott, being as the laws have canged referance " Flashing" Inn comments please!
Press the breaks 3 times at a stop, that lowers my trailer axle
