Subbed! I love this new song by Jinjer, always love Jinjer! I've done some amateur dabbling in music, but I love hearing musicians talk about Jinjer, they're just so good! I love the portrayals of Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, Marie Curie and (I think) Georgia O'Keeffe, although since we know Tatiana loves Frida Kahlo (as do I) because of that tattoo on her arm, I will always think of that character in this video as Georgia O'Keeffe on the outside and Frida Kahlo on the inside. Great reaction, Nik! Thank you for bringing the fantastic music of Jinjer to more people! ❤️ 🖤 🤘
@@martinpaddle Einstein is more public person and has memes about him. It is easier to remember him for everyone. But even in his situation, not everyone can say what he is famous for, but for his tongue and bad hair. And even more - only some people can tell you what theory of relativity really means. People might have heard about Curie but can't remember what was her invention. It is totally fine. At least everyone knows that radiation is bad(in most cases)😅
When he read that article on gojiras olympics performance, he seemed to not understand some of the words, and I considered that basic knowledge 🤷♀️ guess hes not that knowledgable outside of music
The historical women that are portrayed are Cleopatra, Frida Kalho, Marie Curie and Jeanne d'Arc (not Cersei although that was my first thought as well)
What's funny is I've been wondering why the heck I've been randomly seeing people on the internet commenting and discussing about Marie Curie and her work, over the last month. Now I know why that probably is.
Scientist: Marie Curie - discovered radiation. Artist: Frida Kahlo - very important Mexican painter. Queen: most likely Cleopatra, possibly Nefertiti. Warrior: I also first thought Cersei, but much more likely Joan of Arc. Although I'm hoping it's supposed to be Olga of Kiev. Who? Put it this way - if Sabaton haven't done a song about her yet, it's only a matter of time...
One thing I appreciate about Jinjer is their vocal melodies are really interesting. So much of "metalcore" (not all...but a lot) has vocals that if you stripped away the tuning and effects/reverb would be pretty boring. But Jinjer's melodies are actually interesting and they don't lean on effects first and foremost.
As some of the greates jinjer songs (for me) Im a bit unsure at first listen at what to think, and for each time I hear it, it just grows on me.... But as some Classical nerds says, the greatest Classical pieces take some listens before they crawl under the skin
exactly this!, there a pattern with me and finding a song I didn't listen to before from Jinjer, I listen the first time, I don't know if I love it or hate it, couple of days pass, I relisten, and I will be repeating it a lot for the next 3 days or so.
That's why I don't introduce anyone to Jinjer. Its not immediate dopamine pop garbage so you need to have an attention span longer than 10 seconds and you need to understand music. That's not most people so they won't get it nor will they put in the time to get it. I felt the same way about practically all of their songs. I don' hate it, but I don't love it after a first listen. After hearing it 20 times I start to see the genius in it. I feel the same way about Meshuggah. It took me years to be able to see what people were raving about. I'm so glad I persisted.
Tatianas singing is heavily inspired by the german band "Guano Apes". If you listen to their earlier stuff you can hear that she must have been a big fan of them 😊
Man, i got to see these guys live in 2018 at a tiny ass metal club in brooklyn, i think it might have been the 2nd or 3rd show they had ever performed in the US. They could barley fit on the stage and they still fucking killed it. One of the best live shows i have ever been to.
Jinjer is just on ANOTHER LEVEL of GREATNESS... And i have met them and their manager, and they are so cool and down to earth guys, but so hardworking and focused, like i have seen few in my life... They sure have struggled a lot to arrive to this time and place with this quality! I have a great respect for all of them... Hope this fucking wars around the world all end soon... Jinjer is what happens when you are a metal band that doesn’t sound like practically every other band in the scene. Honestly, I like that even though I don’t care if a band sounds like every other band or not!
New Jinjer only two months before the show when I go see them?! That means there's a chance I can hear something new live, I'm even more excited! Edit: After hearing, I love the sound they've developed, they're so fkn good!
Honestly, I've been kind of disappointed with the direction of Jinjer's stuff since Wallflowers. I love their sound, lyrics, and personalities (which I think you can really hear in the music), but the proggy stuff just doesn't do it for me. Their earlier stuff is some of my favorite music to listen to (Who is gonna be the one, Sit stay roll over, Just another, etc.), and I miss that straightforward song approach. I think they mastered the balance of prog in their middle albums (loved micro and most of macro), but the more recent stuff somewhat exceeds my prog tollerence 😅 I say all this with a lot of love though, and I'm glad they have continued to grow as their sound has evolved.
Two bands I always get the same feeling from, Tesseract and Jinjer. I really feel like Tatiana is just perfect female version of Dan T from Tesseract. They are so perfectly groovy and heavy and melodic at the perfect moments
As a Ukrainian, I can the genre "2010s Ukrainian metal". Basically if you listen to any Ukrainian metal of 2010s, it's all there. They are the culmination of all those things and their members played in other popular Ukrainian metal bands. Our metal kinda moved on from that sound tho

What exactly is wrong with the mix? I can hear everything clearly. If anything, I thought the mix on Wallflowers was worse than this. It wasn't bad, just unrefined and kinda muddy. This was clear as glass
Yeah. They are so over rated. Soooooo boring.... I don't get why so many people cream their pants over them.... It's like they are the only female fronted metal band to these people... Sigh... Next...
Ehhhhh. I didn’t really care for it. Her vocals didn’t match the instrumentals at all from what I heard at first listen, and the instruments were tuned so low that it didn’t really establish a melody at all. Dude Stefani's vocals make me want to scoop my eyes out with a melon baller. Don't disrespect Tatti.
That’s the most accurate statement I’ve heard in a long time!
This is a progression of metal I can get behind.
