I was always believed that this vehicle was part of a package which was to be sold to the military of Saudi Arabia. But the internet fails to confirm this. The book I had with this information was damaged and so I throw it away. The vehicle, when I was in the military , known as a 1 Tonne. That was different to the ton. (The Brits had gone metric at last so it was pronounced one ton-ie. not one ton). Tips: Fill up the exhaust pipe with water from a hose and then try to start it. The water has some speed when exiting the pipe! If you can find one purchase a powered driven trailer. Then you will have a 6 wheeled drive. Put your foot down when going through a tunnel or bridge. The sound is fantastic. I was lucky enough to be able to drive these without worrying about the fuel consumption. Still one of my all time favs to drive.
They were available in 12v versions, I thought it was the units paired to radio brigades (and maybe all luxembourg issue ones) that were 24v with the shielded plug wires etc. I have a lhd 12v 101FC GS, and it was supplied in 12v, and spend the first few years of its service working testing the widebody sankey and rapier antenna trailer, then finished out its service in Germany for the BOAR. Another cool thing is the eyes in the cab floor and on the rear so the canvas vehicles can be slung in a wire harness under a helicopter. If you contact the club, you can get the service records of that exact vehicle for the british service ones, not sure on the luxembourg ones though. They managed to supply some cool photos of it from the archives testing the pump up antenna units on proving grounds too. One last comment, make sure your water inspection flap is well secured with a metal dzus, or has the extra screws inserted later by the military. Because its a lhd, if the motor overheats hard and spews water out the radiator, it ends up entering the cab via that flap and as you know its right by your right leg. Mine blew off the top of the radiator when my block failed internally and combustion gas got in the cooling system, and I suffered really severe burns (5 large skin grafts needed) and crashed hard into a post/ditch, which I'm still working on rebuilding it after. I researched and the military units had the screws put on later securing that flap in service after it had done the same thing to servicemen, but mine had been decommissioned without it. Its just a extra fastener, two minutes to undo, its not worth loosing the truck over that...
Sorry for the odd question what is the song / artist you use for the opening intro to the video. Only because I have forgotten the name of them and I really wanna know. Its driving me nuts trying to find it out haha. Cheers

Great truck in good condition, they are a lot of fun. cheers
Great video, all you need to complete the package is the L118.
That’s my Vampire that you referenced!

the best vehicle the army commisioned in my view.......
Awsome LR101!
Nice video pity to overdub music when we could be hearing one of the best older exhaust notes of any Land Rover though
One of the coolest Land Rovers ever built. I wouldn't call it a car... it's more truck than car! haha
Nice 101fc. Funny how the 101fc, volvo c303 and pinzgauer, is very similar in design
Fab video guys :-)
Nice.
nice 101! ex luxembourg army?
Yes, believe so :)
The australian army has the perentie land rover with a 3.9l isuzu 4bd1 diesel coupled to the lt95. That's not bad.
Yay forward control
Why thumbs down ?
I want one so bad and I’m 14
