My husband’s mother was French Canadian ancestry, her parents only spoke French and she only spoke French when she started school in the first grade when they moved here to America. I can’t imagine how hard that must have been to start first grade and not speak English in a little country school. Some of those country folks aren’t very hospitable to strangers so I’m sure it was very hard for her. But she was a wonderful cook. She grew a huge garden and canned the food she grew. She raised 400 chickens every year to cook for her family of 6. She cooked 3 big meals for her family everyday. I loved and admired my mother-in-law law very much.
French Cooking Academy SEE Stephane...this is exactly what I meant when I said I think you are often too hard on yourself!!! BTW, ever look up lace curtains?!
Sitting in front of the TV, eating pastry cream from the bowl and drinking rum from the bottle. Seems as good a way as any to spend valentines day when you're sick. :D
An Italian restaurant in Florida made this. They called it a Napoleon and it was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. I was wondering how it was made!! Thank you for this video!!!
I watched your tutorial on French vanilla slice I made it perfect and my neighbours loved it now I'm going to give this one ago as well thank you just love your channel and recipes ., from Australia Xx
A Frenchman speaking in English with a French accent makes me melt like butter. I could listen to you all day. Fantastic recipe. Blackberries with a pomegranate syrup would be nice as well.
I am loving your videos. The Vanilla Slice was my sisters favourite when we were young. It is her 50th birthday in a few weeks, so I shall be making this for her. Thank you so much.
For my mothers birthday, tomorrow, I’m making us “high tea” with choux buns, mini quiche, some strawberry tartlets and croque Madame, I also now will make this cream to fill something. Because- delicious 🥂🍰🥐🍓👌
I made this recipe for a school project, and it turned out great! In my human geography class, our final project was to make a dish from another country with a group of four. My friends and I had a great time, and it was super easy for all of us to do. We used 3 teaspoons of vanilla extract instead of a vanilla pod, and two pullsbury croissant cans, which we rolled out and pushed the seams together so it’s like the puff pastry, and we didn’t have to put one pan on top of another. It was delicious, and even our parents wanted more! We brought sample sizes to class the next day, but the pastry became soft! It still tasted good though, and some of my group liked it better soft. Thank you for this recipe!!
I told my little one I wasn't into rainbow cakes bless her she found this video Merci Stéphane, c est décadent à souhait elle est trop bonne la crème avec les framboises du jardin j en pleure mdr
I made this pastry many years ago we called it Napelone same cream but you thought me to add whipping cream I will try it thank you so much for your video❤
Looks delicious. I will try this as soon as possible. You are a Super Chef & very good to demonstrate the easy way to make your delicious desserts. I love the Idea of putting the tray on top of the pastry to keep it from rising too much. Thank you again for your lovely easy to make desserts. 😀☘️☘️☘️from Ireland. ☘️☘️☘️ …..
Your ingredients may be similar to other recipes but your method and care is extraordinary. Within 5 minutes you've done more with your milk and eggs than any other vanilla slice video I've seen. A simple slice with your methods would taste incredible, no doubt all of your extra steps and levels make this recipe a knock out.
this looks good...i bet it will be good with bananas as well...a great recipe that one can tweak...the pastry cream seems easy to make also! thank u for sharing!
One of the best cooking channel :) followed u as well in ig 😊 my husband is french and i’ve never cooked french food for him (mostly filipino food) until I found you channel 😊 i cooked pork medallions and he loves it! Thank you! I’m learning more about french culture because of your channel! Keep it up❤️❤️❤️
Your English is extremely good, don’t ever apologize 😊 I am learning French right now, and it’s my third language , so I know how hard and time consuming it is to master a foreign language. I love your videos, I have already learned so much!!!!! Making coq au vin tomorrow (or should I say poulet au vin 🤪). 😋
Hello chef. Exactly what I was thinking to make for dessert tomorrow. Bought this beautiful book on French recipes about ten years ago. I've always that recipe, but I'm going to try this one.
I was making this when I was 13yrs old. Then o tried it with thick whip cream and threw in some fresh blueberries when whipping the cream it tasted even tastier
Watched this earlier and have been dying for something like it all day!!! Thanks so much for listening to all our requests! BTW that live chat was a lot of fun (although I watched the first part I missed and saw you got hit with a lot of the same comments/questions). When I lived in downtown Boston there was the most amazing French Patisserie, opened by a legit French Pastry chef. Eventually he took the business to the trade only, to sell to high end restaurants. OH that place was beyond amazing, but it ruined me for the mediocre stuff some local places try to pretend are the read deal. Well this looks like the real deal! Hope I can try soon.
Look great wish I was there to take a bite too! I love to watch yr demo n it very crystal clear n u mention ( my English no good) what is good or not … as long yr ingredients are there n yr camera engle are on the it ! bingo nothing to worry about n I am sure others would agree too! can I use the same recipe u show on the puff pastry that u had a demo on in one of yr videos just a thought That will encourage me to both that pastry n the cream filling of today Tks u very interesting n appreciate all of yr demo which I hv seen Take care stay safe n keep up yr good work too 👏👏👍🏻🥂🤗🌻🇸🇬
Eclair are basically just choux pasty in a an cycle der shape rather than a ball and the cream made in that video can be used 🙂 I got a video on the choux pastry in the playlist
Just wanted to say that your videos are honestly great. Unfortunately TH-cam is pretty stupid and people like you who deserve more views don’t get more views and idiots get more. So what I’m saying is pleeaase do not be discouraged by that and keep posting vids! Even if it’s just one every couple of months keep making them!
funny that comment is active again something happened on youtube just a few weeks ago and a whole lots of channel including mine are being affected . the new algorithm change has slashed the exposure in the recommended feed of many smaller channels views are down by more then 50 percent in some case. even for me i can’t say what future hold for the channel 😕😔
Oh I wish you had 'Smell-O-Vision," or even better, "Taste-O-Vision!" I would have loved to have tasted that mousseline: totally new desert idea for me. Thanks again for super cooking ideas. :-D

I don't understand why anyone would give this nice and accomplished chef a thumps down?
I love to watch you work through a recipe! And please don't apologise for your English. It's WAY better than my French.
i am trying 🙂🙂👨🏻🍳
You do very well!!! Very well indeed!!!
French Cooking Academy SEE Stephane...this is exactly what I meant when I said I think you are often too hard on yourself!!! BTW, ever look up lace curtains?!
i did but not sure it would be the best in the kitchen . still interesting 🙂
I understand, I'm from Quebec and I struggle with both english+french😂😂😂
Sitting in front of the TV, eating pastry cream from the bowl and drinking rum from the bottle. Seems as good a way as any to spend valentines day when you're sick. :D

Pika Pika 🤩 i will keep going just because of comment like that 👨🏻🍳👍👍😋
yay
Why do you blame TH-cam for that? Only the viewers are responsible.
Ninjaananas I think maybe she means the algorithms TH-cam uses when putting vids into your recommended feed.
funny that comment is active again something happened on youtube just a few weeks ago and a whole lots of channel including mine are being affected . the new algorithm change has slashed the exposure in the recommended feed of many smaller channels views are down by more then 50 percent in some case. even for me i can’t say what future hold for the channel 😕😔

13:56 ... that's the sound that proves he isn't lying.
Can you replace the rum?
Hi Stephen. Can you please do a video on how to make a puff pastry. Thank you
If I don't drink alcohol, what liquid can I add? Making it now. Looks delish!
Thank you I make it now🌹 but what is (ram) something you add it like a water?
LOL! Your reaction to the creme was for adults only! I must try this. I am already thinking of making sauces for toppings.
Perfect
Oh I wish you had 'Smell-O-Vision," or even better, "Taste-O-Vision!" I would have loved to have tasted that mousseline: totally new desert idea for me. Thanks again for super cooking ideas. :-D

Is it ok if we cut out portions of puff pastry before baking ?
I love how you enjoy it. Delice!
