- Shogun: Lord Toranaga's Samurai Attack Lord Ishido's Samurai At Osaka Castle Harbor. After The Lady Toda Mariko gives the signal of fainting on the Bridge Deck of The Galley, Lord Yoshi Toranaga’s (Lord Of The Kwanto; Lord Of The Eight Provinces; General played by Toshiro Mifune) Samurai attack Lord Ishido’s Gray Samurai, who are guarding the entrance to The Galley. After fighting off all of Lord Ishido’s Samurai Warriors, Lord Kashigi Yabu and Lord Yoshi Toranaga enter The Galley to depart Osaka Castle.

Shogun, The Millions-Of-Copies Sold Novel, was written by James Clavell. The Masterpiece Television Mini Series was Directed by Jerry London, Screenplay by Eric Bercovici, Director Of Photography Andrew Laszlo, Production Executive Frank Cardea, with Production Designer Joseph Jennings. Shogun starred: Richard Chamberlain (as Pilot-Major John Blackthorne), Toshiro Mifune (as Lord Yoshi Toranaga), Yoko Shimada (Lady Toda Buntaro Mariko), Frankie Sakai (as Lord Kashigi Yabu), Alan Badel (as Jesuit Father Visitor Dell’Aqua), Michael Hordern (as Friar Domingo), Damien Thomas (as Jesuit Father Martin Alvito), John Rhys-Davies (Portuguese Pilot Vasco Rodrigues), Vladek Sheybal (as Portuguese Captain Ferriera), George Innes (as Ship Hand Vinck), Leon Lissek (as Portuguese Jesuit Father Sebastio), Yuki Meguro (as Kashigi Omi), Hideo Takamatsu (as Lord Toda Buntaro), Hiromi Senno (as Consort Usagi Fujiko), and Nobuo Kaneko (as Lord Ishido Kazunari. Many people were involved in the making of this classic masterpiece. There was an A-List Cast, an A-List Director, an A-List Musical Score from Maurice Jarre, and A-List production quality with amazing sets and intricate costumes, detailed for that time era. Narration by the famous and powerful voice of Orson Welles.

Both Yabu and a few moments later, Toranaga, walking down the dock towards the galley with confidence and arrogance are just perfect.

I think Mariko-san thanking Anjin-san right after he made that critical remark about Toranaga-sama is a showcase of Mariko-san's gifts of taming men herself. In the book it is shown that she uses her tenderness and femininity to calm and even manipulate the most brutish of men.
This is another reason why I like the original version more than the reboot!
Konichiva, Shogunchannel-sana. Do you know what I did after the Shogun 2024 series came to their end? I started to rewatch the Shogun 1980. And I feel great because it's clear that oldies but goldies the Shogun 1980 is just perfect! Action, roleplaying, soundtrack. I feel like it's me in place of Angin-san and it's me getting lost in the Medieval Japan. Wonderful!

I always liked how the two sides had different colors brown versus gray. I liked the brown team myself.
Just watched the first episode. Blackthorne, Omi and rodrigues are far superior in the original than in shogun 24. Yabu(shige) is less interesting though.
The original is better in many ways.
Agreed on all points except Yabu - in my view he's far better in this 1980 miniseries.
@@SlartiMarvinbartfast They ruined his arc a bit by turning him into this goofy, comedic relief guy from a cold,inhumane and fascinating villain in EP 1. Still the best character for me in shogun24 though.

Yabu was so much better in thiis version!
The actor who played Yabu in the 2024 version had a lot of potential. I blame the producers/script writers/directors for him not getting the chance to truly shine and be a better Yabu.
