I think the thing is, don't let that trick you into thinking low effort = value. That's just what captures peoples attention, but for other things outside of "video content", effort has greater impact. Now, I'm generalizing a bit, but what is really youtube? It's just modern day TV with a lot more channels and ability to interact with the person across the screen live. The more I look at it, youtube is a great place to network, and learn, but its also a huge waste of time. People literally throw together shit videos that steal the time you have of life. The fact that I'm even going this far into writing this comment is almost me being a hipocrit of my own words. Long story short, youtube's cool, but I've realized at 38 years old, life is short, and I only want to spend so much time listening to one persons hot takes on another persons hot takes on a peice of music gear from a suspicious company.....is there an echo in here? Anyway, love youtube, i just cut back on the fluff i watch and spend more time doing more meaningful things like actually making music or socializing.

I've also been a small time producer, mainly working with local artists, that never went anywhere, but I still persist. Now I am at a point that I would like to try producing full time, and make this my retirement (from insurance) business. I worked with him for 2 years and he never once mentioned the music he produced. Instead he gave me good advice on how to mix down and produce and to stay away from AI beat making programs. You are fast becoming a fave channel of mine. While I didn’t find you *directly* via Weaver (whose shtick I find interesting/amusing), I’m pretty sure TH-cam made you show up in my feed due to me having watched his videos. Weaver’s videos are basically… marketing for Weaver’s videos. No shame in that, but it’s not the same thing as those who use TH-cam as (one of many) marketing channels. I got more serious about TH-cam as a marketing channel recently when I launched my ginormous wavetables collection. Every video is (1) documentation/ideas for what to do with the product, and also (2) an awareness driver and/or advertisement for the product. Every video I post makes me sales. I find it odd these folks who aspire to TH-cam stardom (like that couldn’t just fall through at any moment…) and think that getting monetized on TH-cam is some important end goal. 🤷♂️ I’m not monetized on TH-cam, but it’s an outstanding marketing and sales channel for me. (And why shouldn’t it be… in my non-sound-design life, I’m a digital marketer.) Anyway, keep up these interesting videos! You’re not wrong. I too believe there is a controlled opposition on here and elsewhere. Anyone saying that it’s simple to create beats, has never done it, and has never tried to do it professionally at all.
to me, it actually is simple to "make beats", and any one can do it. just like any one with a smart phone can be a photographer. anyone can do it. its just not everyone can do it well. and even less have the fortitude to go from toy to master. -or at least decent. its just that people dont respect the amount of time an effort that goes into all the aspects of "beat making". music theory, and song writing is one world. sound design is another world. recording is another world. mixing? another world. just because you know how to track, and edit doesnt automatically make you a good mixer. mastering? another world. theres a lot of different things you have to dedicate yourself to if you want to be good at it. theres the crowd who thinks small, and thinks beat making is simple. cause its just simple and shallow concept to them. then theres the people who understand the point youre making where beat making isnt just "beat making". there are several arts and sciences at play here. 👨🏽🎨👨🏽🔬
I hardly ever listen to rap & I like your videos. I'm just a music lover in general. I play instruments & I used to make beats many years ago. I have no interest in making money from music. Your videos are interesting & informative & that's why I watch them. I've seen so many stupid beat making videos that never piqued my interest at all. People like good videos. If you make good videos, people will watch regardless of the topic. There's way too much bad advice out there. Especially in the beat making community from what I see. Don't stress the numbers too much, your videos are a godsend. There's only so many viewers on TH-cam looking for content related to music production. And an even tinier fraction of them are even considering the possibility of making a career from it. But for the few who are trying to learn and build their career, this is one of the most insightful channels on TH-cam. I imagine making these videos are kinda like charity work. No, you're not really making significant money from doing this hard work, but people are benefiting immensely from your insights. And I hope you also recognize the good with the bad. My wife and I listen to and discuss the At Odds podcast constantly. These videos are great for someone with the goal to create a music business to gain perspective.

The selling of beats is no different from selling soap, or selling cars. Your selling a product. By that account it must adhere to the expectations attached to sales. I appreciate your channel my guy. I think the videos are a little long but it kinda feels like a conversation. If they were too short I'd probably forget what you said. It's not just the information, it's the feel of everything around it. I can glean some information that I find useful from a longer video cuz I can get a better sense of the person when they speak more than if it was just pure dry information. First off thank you for doing these videos, 🙏🏼! I saw your video on sampling in acid (which I was using at the time) and it was dope because it was one of the few videos on sampling and it was in the same weird ass daw I had used since 2000😂. Then my first recording client (2008 or 9ish) actually used to live in Madison and worked with you and ended up recording some songs to your beats, which was cool because you were the guy from TH-cam. Anyways I've been following all along and now do music full time myself and some in part to your information and inspiration. So don't get caught up in these incels who only romanticize with the idea of becoming a full time musician. Sure, you've made mistakes, but this industry has changed so radically in the last 20 years and even more so in the last 5 years.

I pretty sure I commented on your videos years ago saying Sub count means nothing to TH-cam anymore, infact having a high sub count on a old channel eventually kills a channel in My opinion. I see channels with double your sub count geting less then 500 views on a video or less, TH-cam system is set up to kill off old channels in My opinion.
Well, it really depends on what I'm looking for. If I need to learn something in depth, then a short video might not be enough. But if I'm just looking for some quick tips or tricks, then a shorter video is usually perfect.
I enjoy your content as is but if you want more views I suggest sharing more personal stories with your viewers. Ppl love a good storyteller. Rick Beato took off when he did that. Just a thought but don’t give up!

Tbh I find the lack of interest in real informative content that can really change your life with putting in the right amount of work is just right across the board with this social media generation, what they use to call "a get rich scheme" has evolved into people selling you courses on how to be successful in a specific area but really their money isnt from the same thing they are selling you it comes from u buying them, now you cant tell whos really providing game changing info or the one just lookin for a qucik bucks. well I learned over time how to tell but most ppl will end up in a rabbit hole situation.

Well, entertaining content generates sales, which attracts paid partnerships and increases ad revenue. I don't think it sells beats, no, but not everybody's revenue model includes beat sales.

I appreciate your channel my guy. I think the videos are a little long but it kinda feels like a conversation. If they were too short I'd probably forget what you said. It's not just the information, it's the feel of everything around it. I can glean some information that I find useful from a longer video cuz I can get a better sense of the person when they speak more than if it was just pure dry information.
I'm not a full time beat maker but I'd love to make that crossover and your videos are beyond useful in building the confidence to taking steps in that direction.

First off thank you for doing these videos, 🙏🏼! I saw your video on sampling in acid (which I was using at the time) and it was dope because it was one of the few videos on sampling and it was in the same weird ass daw I had used since 2000😂. Then my first recording client (2008 or 9ish) actually used to live in Madison and worked with you and ended up recording some songs to your beats, which was cool because you were the guy from TH-cam. Anyways I've been following all along and now do music full time myself and some in part to your information and inspiration. So don't get caught up in these incels who only romanticize with the idea of becoming a full time musician. Sure, you've made mistakes, but this industry has changed so radically in the last 20 years and even more so in the last 5 years.

@@DJPain1 if the algorithm deems your content family friendly enough to run coca cola ads or not, + whether your fanbase clicks thru on ads and makes purchases (along with how much those purchases are in relation to content) basically if your content is clean and leads wealthy ppl to spend online. the higher your ad revenue will be .

I pretty sure I commented on your videos years ago saying Sub count means nothing to TH-cam anymore, infact having a high sub count on a old channel eventually kills a channel in My opinion. I see channels with double your sub count geting less then 500 views on a video or less, TH-cam system is set up to kill off old channels in My opinion.
Their algorithm does kill even higher sub count channels. They’re the devil.

Well, it really depends on what I'm looking for. If I need to learn something in depth, then a short video might not be enough. But if I'm just looking for some quick tips or tricks, then a shorter video is usually perfect.

Tbh I find the lack of interest in real informative content that can really change your life with putting in the right amount of work is just right across the board with this social media generation, what they use to call "a get rich scheme" has evolved into people selling you courses on how to be successful in a specific area but really their money isnt from the same thing they are selling you it comes from u buying them, now you cant tell whos really providing game changing info or the one just lookin for a qucik bucks. well I learned over time how to tell but most ppl will end up in a rabbit hole situation.

Well, entertaining content generates sales, which attracts paid partnerships and increases ad revenue. I don't think it sells beats, no, but not everybody's revenue model includes beat sales.
