- Welcome back to Thunder RC! This is my last video bashing the Traxxas XRT and I will tell you why. I have had nothing but trouble with this car since the first day of ownership. The Traxxas XRT has been problems since the beginning and it is no where near the amazing Xmaxx. In this video I try out some different tires in an attempt to make this truck drive better but the Death Ramp kills it 2nd jump in! The Traxxas XRT is a good car for what it is intended to do and that is driving it around on the ground. When you start jumping this thing it just falls apart if you don't land it. Enjoy

Your initial videos where you took it to a skate park and beat it to oblivion impressed me so much that I added it to my fleet, and now it’s a lousy basher? Seems like those landings you did would’ve ruined any large scale rc. I guess I have to take online reviews a little less seriously from now on..
For the regular basher this truck is awesome, but it is not Death Ramp material. It just can’t take it…

Man, I hear ya I had the same luck with the xmaxx I couldn’t keep that truck together for a whole bash chassis, breaking the bulkheads breaking something snapped every single ride and that’s why it’s no longer in my shop

Hey Thunder The harder and firmer a tire is on an RC car the more it will break I figured that out with the Ravel Wonder if the XRT is that way
For folks getting into this hobby, an xmaxx with mods might be a better basher, but definitely not a stock out the box xmaxx. Let’s not forget the stock weak arms (non hd) along with weak carriers and casters among a couple other areas. The xrt comes stock with those upgraded. I run the outcast dboots on the xrt and helps tremendously as soaks up those weird angle hits much better than a hard tire. Sometimes just have bad bashing days, but so far the xrt has come through when I had given up on traxxas all together.
Xmaxx is better.. your just trying to make yourself feel better for buying a xrt lol
I've owned 3 different xmaxxs in my time on my 3rd one rn and I also have xrt xmaxx is way stronger and Arms are definitely not a weak point on xmaxx lol I like the xrt but I use it different from the xmaxx xmaxx cons are the rear hub carriers the steering sucks till u get the stiffer spring in the 2085x and the front bulkhead post is a weak point then the drive shaft when u go crazy it will bend sometimes like I said I'm on xmaxx number 3 sell them when I get hard up but then always get them back xrt gonna be the one I sell if I get hard up again lol but both are fun but if only 1 it'll be xmaxx hands down

Traxxas wanted in on the Kraton 8S market, the engineers on both platforms knew it would never be as robust as the narrower wheelbase.

@Trav B Outside of the X-maxx, would be 420mm long wheelbase fireteam/Mojave or the outcast 8S is 430mm wheelbase although it is as wide as an XRT

Dang bro! Yeah I understand that man! I couldn’t keep my Xmaxx together when it had M2C parts on it. Made it too heavy. Now with a stock setup I have had a blast with the Xmaxx. I guess we all love a certain style of truck. Everyone is different and that is a good thing 💪🏆🏆⚡️🔥🚀🚀

Man I was just out bashing my Xmaxx on some dirt hills today and it was an absolute blast. Tire came unglued mid run so I just kept going. Then the damn pinion gear falls off, chipping some teeth on the spur. Traxxas makes such awesome rigs but they have the most irritating little issues. So you think the Xmaxx is way better than XRT?

Super glue was the only cure for me. I have a love hate relationship with the car. The drivetrain is the annoying part.

Man this XRT has been a disappointment from the very beginning and we really tried with it! The first XRT (( the red one)) was amazing but this one must be a lemon 🍋 idk! Thanks Levi for watching and your constant support !!!!! We appreciate it so much!

yeah Thunder i agree on that. The XRT is more of a light basher and just more of a truggy racer on som enice sand dunes or something. You should consider building a nice Krajave Or also called Kraton XL. Super easy build and dude i think you will love it. Speed syko i believe is gonna make one soon too. Go and beat him to the punch.

Should try using the sledgehammer tires or the outcast 8s backflips. Also bad Landings will yield bad results. Give it another shot with different tires.

I skipped the XRT for a MT10 V2 rival😂 put in a lightweight 3s 3,500mah from my planes, making it super light will make it more durable
Me and my 4 friends run mt’10s with 15000mah 3s battery’s with 170g tyres, also max10g2 geared to do 70km. They’re durable regardless. Then only thing you need to do is use rpm control arms and upgrade the servo.
@@1999ekk24 1kg Lipo Battery? That is "not very clever". Heat, not checking the car for a long time, weight, size... I and many others like "normal light" 4000-6000mah 3s Lipos for a reason. But whatever makes you happy Sir. But i would not recommend such big and heavy lipos to anyone i like.
@@runnerbaba 700g. No heat issues, motor never goes over 70C and we run 20-30 minute sessions in 30C heat with 130mm tall 170g grippier tyres . No one wants to run a heavier battery but the top speed is 6km faster then a 7000, runs more then double the time and has no adverse affects. Longer runs with more speed why would you not? Plus the batteries were the same price as 6-9000.
Arrma heat sink on the motor with a aluminium fan, preferably one that plugs straight into the balance port for 11.1v power and less stress on the esc.
@@runnerbaba Also run 1 mt10 with a 4274 xr8plusg2 with no fan or heat sink on the motor and it runs 50-60C motor temps doing 70km top speeds on the track. Then another mt10 with a surpass 4092 and a Hobbywing max 6 no fan or heat sink that runs 60-70C. Xr8g2 combo is so nice to drive
I see so many people with so many RC’s and all I need is my Xmaxx. It’s the perfect combo of everything I love to do with RC.

Man i love my XRT. It drives a little weird but doing donuts on grass and not rolling over is something none of by other RCs do. Honestly needs some traditional diff tuning and shock mount options
Gladly take a few extra broken parts for something with low center of gravity and pretty good durability. My ramp is big but i take caution jumping it. 30ft backflips all day
To me its one truck that just does everything. My tekno handles better, the xmaxx may be a little tougher. But if i just want something fast, stable, and tough…. XRT

To say "they fit right on", and then follow that with "you just need to install these adapters", says they do NOT "fit right on". By your statement, that would be akin to saying "a Chevy V8 will fit right into a Toyota Tacoma, but you first have to install new motor mounts, and a new transmission".

Xrt does need more upgrades over xmaxx like bash bar, hinge pin plates and an m2c servo brace then its good. One thing that lets traxxas down in general is parts availability.
30 degree north looks like the ultimate weapon over anything!!
Compared to serious bashers like Xmaxx , 30° North and Kraton its Hot garbage. Anybody who really bashes has had issues with them.
@@james654100 Yeah xmaxx is stronger out of the box and no need for a bash bar either. But before you bin it you could try the optional traxxas springs and change the shock oil as thats cheap to do to try it out.

Lol dang it's tougher than my 30 north buggy. I'm done with it to. The rear diff just don't last more than 2or 3 bashes. I take such great care of it like the words say. I'm done with it if it can't stay together after a baby bash then it's a bad set up. The diffs for the 30 north sit so extremely lose in the case it's no wonder they last one rip and shimming them makes no difference apparently 😭. Lol I'd take a XRT over my 30 north buggy anyday

Bummer on the Xrt. Heard a lot of people having problems as well. Maybe throw xmaxx a arms/dog bones on it to shorten the width up? Would be unique and may hold up better
I shelved mine months ago after the hype dissipated with stripped pinions and spurs. All it ever do was wheelie great on road or short grass. Bought a Primal Gravedigger and been playing with that. And 60 others.

Everything has its limitations when landing bad. I'm cool with Traxxas as well and the Xmaxx has been great for me but I added the chassis brace and center shaft seems to help a lot with over flex like the plastic rigs do, there not designed for 100ft+ sends but that's what some of us like to do. They twist and bend and Shafts/gears can have issues.
If you Haven't upgraded the gears and center shaft, that Might be a good start, or that M2C Center brace? I know you like to keep it stock but I know some guys that have had better luck with those few mods.... It still has its limitations as the plastic under the battery trays wears down or punches out with repeated big hits.... Not sure she is built for CONSTANT big hits long term durability? especially stock? for the type of bashing you do brother. Maybe try those mods or move on?

FYI those tires weigh a TON, I'm afraid to use them on anything because the weight can cause breaks? They seem to handle great though.....but the leverage that weight creates, I think there even heavier than trenchers??
Yeah brother I hear you on that stuff for sure man. Personally I don’t like the way the car drives. I have decided that this is not my kind of truck. I love my Xmaxx, it is the king of all rc cars on my opinion. I know a lot of people hate that rig because of its wonky driving style but man I must say I have mastered that truck. I can drive an Xmaxx blindfolded and land everything perfectly 😂😂 So I am biased to that platform. I think what I’m gonnna do is strip down this vehicle and save all the drivetrain parts for spares for my Xmaxx. I will just sell the chassis, bulkheads,shocktowers,arms,driveshafts, and body for cheap. 👍⚡️🏆🏆🏆Honestly I miss my Outcast 8s as well dude! That truck was mint 💯💯💯

It is because the arms are much wider, giving it a much higher torque force on the arms. This thing was not made for sending it big like the XMaxx, it was build to rip flat surfaces without big jumps

Yes but if you crash sideways it’s gonna break. Long arms and driveshafts are not good for sideways crashes. Also hard on bulkheads with all that leverage
I have 7 cars, 5 traxxas, 1 dee rc, and my 8s outcast. Only the dee rc, and outcast are functional. Bad luck maybe but im sticking to arrma and im going to give team corally a ahot.
Factory glue job is always hit or miss maybe they had them out of round

Yes they really are crap especially the cutting out then starting back up when getting closer to it. Everyone on xrt groups are getting this fault brand new out of the box which is bad.

The Definitive stance on if a RC is tough or not..... can it take some "off" landings? That's all he is talking about.... For him the Xmaxx is better and he is entirely right in his perspective and experience. If your don't land wrong at times your not pushing it.... Just cut your loss now before it gets worse and cant sell it for much. Invest it into another RC that you would enjoy more. Maybe a Losi SBR? Or just upgrade the others you already have.

I seriously don’t understand these videos. If you want to fly buy a drone . Yes RC cars are made to bash about but you guys take it to extreme and then bitch about how it broke. I have loads of fun with my XRT and after 20 packs the only thing that happened was the monkey metal pinion and spur gear . Easy upgrade to 1.5 GPM gears and so far never had a problem
