I think there is a lot of hype when a new product is released and I am afraid we all start having these unfounded doubts about what we have! I bought my Q3 in the week Q3 43 was announced. My assessment in the end the 28mm gave me more flexibility and I have no regrets whatsoever.
The 28mm is so great. And much more versatile than the 43. Regarding AF. Yes Sony are much faster. But compared to any Fuji, the older Leica Q and SL systems are so much more precise. If the focus point shows green - it nailed it. None of the the 4 Fuji cameras I had, did that. Yes they showed a green focus point. But always a bit different focus distance every time you pressed the shutter, even you standing still and the subject as well. Always annoyed me....
Great pictures. The trade-in value on the 28 is probably high enough to not have to spend too much on the 43. For street photography the 28 is perfect for me. I have a Q2 mono that replicates a Pentax with a Vivitar 28 I used in Paris in the 70s shooting Tri-X. Good luck!
Not sure I understand. If you're not sure about the 28mm, why don't you use the crop mode? Still has enough MP's for most applications. Other than that it's always good to hear an honest opinion.
Eh I’d say the autofocus is more reliable than my Fuji and I have the latest xh2s. The Q2 monochrome I also have has very fast autofocus due to it being contrast based paired with the monochrome sensor. Not as fast as my a7iv but that camera is boring. It’s much better than my griiix.

Anyway, in my opinion, I think it's a very worthwhile camera.
