Thank you Mary for playing this beautiful piece, I love looking at your hands fit like a glove , the sound is simple, mystic, transcending, effortless, I dont know how long I can slightly play like you❤
Hello Alice! I'm delighted you enjoyed this wonderful piece by Kreisler and thank you so much for your very kind words...keep your inspiration close to your heart and you will succeed for yourself and others. Mary❤
Hello! Thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed this wonderful piece. Very observant of you to notice the harmonics! They add a touch of sparkle and a different sound into the phrasing, don't you agree? Take care. Mary❤
Hola Mary!
Hello Lola! How lovely you want to dance - Liebesleid is an 'Old Viennese Dance' from the Ländler; more than charming in Kreisler's hands... I'm so glad you liked it and thank you for your very kind words Lola! Mary❤
Greetings, dear Mary. You would never know there wasn't a pianist with you in the room. Have you any tips for us on playing with pre-recorded accompaniments? Maybe a topic for a video!
Hello Christopher! Thank you for that great idea for a video. It's not always that easy to play with pre-recorded accompaniments, especially when the pianist has different ideas from oneself, so yes, I do have lots of tips! Thanks again. Mary❤
Damn, girl u play fine! Liebesleid is one of my favorite pieces. And one of my favorites of your performances along with 'Songs for my Mother' (is that the correct title?) I put my tuner next to the speaker to see what key you were in. Looks like A major. That just might be the incentive I need to start practicing regularly again. A bonny colleen with a magical talent. Thank you. Tapadh leibh.
Hello iggy! No wonder Liebesleid became an instant hit when it was published and thank goodness we can hear wonderful recordings of Kreisler himself playing it with his magical touch and sound... A minor is the main key, but when it goes to major in the middle part it just melts...just like 'the Love's Sorrow' of the title. Playing Liebesleid is one of the greatest incentives to practice your violin again! I hope I hope I hope you do iggy... Mary❤
This HAS been an incentive and I've started practicing regularly. I can read, but I've played a lot of music by ear all my life (piano, bass, guitar violin, etc.), so I've been picking up this piece by listening and watching this video trying to see your fingering and bowing. Sometimes I slow the playback speed to .25. Sounds awful but it makes it a lot easier to see everything. It's coming along but your vibrato and trill techniques are so smooth and mellifluous it'll take years to perfect for me. But that's ok. I'm enjoying trying to make the instrument sing - although right now it sounds like it's screaming for mercy. Gotta just keep at it. Thanks, teach.
Hello iggy! You know this is exactly how I learned some complicated tap steps that I saw Eleanor Powell doing...although I'm no dancer...I slowed it right down to .25 and very slowly managed to learn the tap steps. I'm pretty dreadful, but I just love pretending to be Eleanor Powell! Mary❤
Very beautifully played. So peaceful.
Hello! Thank you very much! Mary❤
