This turned out absolutely PERFECT! I used double strands of worsted weight yarn and the only issue I had was finding where my stitches changed up. I started using stitch markers which may seem a little redundant but it solved the issue and it was well worth it. I LOVE the way it closes at the top. No awkward wrinkles! Thank you so much for this pattern!
Forgot to add that your teaching is absolutely perfect!! I’ve crocheted for a lot of years but outside of being taught a couple of stitches, and the fact that I stick to straight lines-I’ve never known names for the stitches, never understood counting and that you can measure-I am smack in the middle of an enormous king-sized blanket and the ends absolutely don’t line up. It’s a good thing I’m only making this mammoth blanket for myself, as I don’t care that’s it is perfectly square or wonky, but i am thrilled to think I could make something besides a flat scarf and a blanket. THANK YOU!!!
I have tried a few chunky beanie patterns over the last week and ended pulling them all back. This was so easy and the end result looks great and I’m a novice. Thank you so much for sharing. I will be doing more of these. 😊
I have tried several beanie patterns and the size never turned out right i made a infant one like this just by eye balling it and it turned out great! Made another one to her size in the video also turned out great! This is by far the best tutorial iv found!

My daughter is 8 months and has a tiny head so I started with 26 chains and then did as many rows as it took to go around her head. My six year old son I did 36 chains and it’s a little to long for him but i just keep it rolled up more I haven’t counted the rows on either hat I just go until it comfortably fits around their head.
Thank you for sharing this pattern. I have made quite a few crochet hats over the years but not seen this pattern before. It is so easy and well explained. I made one for my husband in just 3 hours. Thanks 🙂
Thank you so much for this tutorial. You have made it the best and simplist pattern to follow. I've made several hats now using your pattern and everyone loves them 😊
Before today I have given up on this project where you have to do this narrow part with chain stitches. I am proud to say I have succeeded 🎉 thank you for your clear instructions ((:
This pattern was my first ever crochet project. So beyond easy! I just bought the pattern on Etsy and will be making these for Christmas gifts. Thank you so much!
Just made this hat, turned out great. I used worsted wool doubled as i didnt have any chunky left. Also your tutorial was geat, id say about the best ive seen so far, will definitely be using this pattern from now on.
Jonna thank you for this tutorial. Easy to follow instructions I am grateful for. If I wanted to make another hat that was less chunky what yarn weight and hook size could I use please.
Great tutorial! Instructions are super clear! Love that you slow down a bit while you crochet to let those who are still learning “catch up”! Lol keep up the awesome work!
I purchased this pattern and like it very much. It is so easy and makes a great hat. I learned something new about weaving in ends as I was watching the video. Thank you for being so thorough and easy to follow.
Gosh, I only ever make afghans, but I think even I can make this pretty beanie. Thank you so much for the great instruction. I'll be heading to etsy on just a sec fur your pattern. 🤗
I discovered your video a few weeks back and decided I would try to make a hat this weekend and it turned out fabulous .. I made it slightly bigger as you mentioned because I wanted to make it for my son in law. I used the same wool ease yarn and made a pompom for the top. I couldn’t be happier the finish project. Your video was so easy to follow and your helpful hints were much appreciated. Thank so much for sharing your videos. Can’t wait to see what your next project is.. 😊
I’m so happy to hear this! That’s really great the tutorial had some helpful information and you got to make a beautiful gift. I have a new hat pattern coming out soon! Thank you for watching and commenting.
this is my first ever crochet project and so far i’ve been able to follow it really easily, thank you so much! i’ve only stopped because i’ve run out of yarn but i’ve already ordered it 😂
Love the teacher , so well explained and it’s a joy . Am a beginner and am doing this with the wool and the hook that I have . My work is very short just about 8 inches . Can I add more chains and follow the pattern
3:41 where you’re talking about the gauge, you say if it isn’t 12”, increase or decrease hook sizes. But is it possible to just adjust the amount of stitches? If I’m using a smaller hook, smaller yarn, just make enough stitches until it’s 12”?
Hi, I can’t wait to try this pattern. I love your tutorial. Easy for to follow especially when I have issues to follow. This I feel will be easy. Thank you:) ❤
Yes I agree with Kris it is indeed the best easiest pattern.i completed one cap in a day so easy anyone can make it.i like the one chain for slip stitch and two chains for half double crochet fantastic idea and it made it straight.thank you so much I love my cap.verybgoid tutorial. How many metres of yarn would I need to make the hat if I was using the dk 2 strand method?
You are just wonderful instractor
Thank you so much!
I love this color and yarn. I can't find the exact color. Is it wool ease? Something else?
This is charisma yarn by lion brand. I lost the label but i believe it is blush pink. I need to go back to the store and color match.
Can I change colours to make checkered pattern?
Love the hat very easy. Where did you get your ring?
If you change the hook size after the first row when you're gauge the length does that mean you could continue with the project or should you start over?
I always find it’s worth starting over. It’s only one row. But you can absolutely try it and see what happens. Thanks for watching.
I think it's worth starting over too, but when you start over is that when you change the hook size?
@susannamaharaj6407 yes. If the row one is too long you use a smaller hook. If it is too short you use a bigger hook.
How much yarn did this take? I just want to make sure i won't run out mid beanie
Love it..your tutorial is the easiest I've came across and yes I will defiantly trying this pattern..????what is the small white tab call use to attach the pompom..I really hate sewing them on cause you can't remove it😒unless you cut it off
