    Palmer in the team first over Kane. Kanes a clinical finisher but Palmer could create more chances per game for any of strikers to finish whereas Kane has been on the pitch’s before without anyone to create chances for him and he goes missing, see most recent euros as an example.

    Pep had no wish to sell Palmer or Alvarez.
    Both players wanted to start more games especially the big games.
    Palmer didn't want to play second fiddle to Foden and Alvarez didn't want to play second fiddle to Haaland. The impetus to move came from the players....not Pep.

    • @scottyh1238
      @scottyh1238 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

  • @bryguy572
    @bryguy572 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The narrative of "Pep coaches the talent out of players" doesn't really hold much water for me. It's a silly talking point IMO. We've all watched players like David Silva, Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne etc., for years doing spectacular things in a well drilled system.
    They take one player in Grealish, and blame his lack of dynamic play on Pep's "totalitarian system" without even an inspection as to why others have flourished and Jack has declined.
    Jack for one, has been a party animal off the pitch, leading to questionable performances and potentially led to more injuries than he might otherwise have had given different choices.
    The other thing about Grealish was when he played for Villa, they were largely a counter attacking team so Jack would see plenty of space to run and use his ball control and technical ability to make things happen. This is simply not the same at City for reasons I shouldn't need to really elaborate on more than just stating their incredible dominance of possession and opposition collapsing into their final 3rd, leaving little space for Jack to do what he did at Villa. In short, it really isn't anything to do with Pep but I guess it's a "sexy" narrative that the talking heads have ran with.
    Palmer is a different player than Grealish. Palmer is technically brilliant as we all know but what makes him different is that he is a highly cerebral player with a creative imagination to match his ability and a vision on par with Kevin de Bruyne. Cole could excel at City or anywhere else for that matter and point of fact whenever I watched Cole get minutes as a late sub or the odd start while playing at City he was very good in those limited appearances. In fact, he was superb in a Supercup before moving to London, scoring a gorgeous goal similar to what we see at Chelsea.
    I think what initiated Palmer to want to move was when players like Mahrez left (right sided attacker) and Pep went out and bought Doku, which probably denoted to Palmer at least that he's not going to get a fair run as long as City keep buying attackers.
    From my understanding, Palmer was prepared for a loan move to Burnley and Pep basically told him the only way he leaves is on a permanent. The rest as they say, is history.

Palmer is brilliant but you are judging his performances for this season against Gundo, KDB, and Silva this season.
