17 years ago and still such a great rockumentary. After being very ill and deciding I needed to get into some sort if music again it was the Uke that called and gave me hope and purpose. And thru that I discovered the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, such an inspiration and an example of how a group should be. God love them all... (o)=:: ;-}
I have never fit in anyone's box. After my last scooter crash it was the Ukulele I just started playing 2 years ago has saved my life and I have a reason to live, Because I have a Box now. Thanks 😊 guys
Thankyou thankyou I love you all I laugh all the way through this video there is a magical air about watching real people doing life, ... it like many kinds fabric turn in to patches that is cut into shapes ,sewn preset then finally arranged, rearranged sewn one more time and have cherished peace of art ( music) or (quilt).... Think not, yes and Native Indians Blanket sold for millions just saying hahaha have a wonderful day. Thankyou again Will love the video
You are all lovely. I picked up my 1st uku two months ago I have caught the bug and am well aware that today there is so much more for a beginner. Thank you for this .
You are so lovely lovely lovely, and thank you for sharing all those joyous and moving moments with us. One of those you inspired to try to play ukulele - One concert, and a lifelong impact... Even the cats love Your music! Kisses and hugs 🎶
What an excellent rockumentary! Although I was rather disappointed that no one threw a TV out of a Travelodge* window (*other hotel chains are available).
OK, it wasn’t a complete gig, or even any complete songs, but I found this compilation very moving and emotional. It was apparent from seeing clips of the various audiences, just how much joy and happiness you have collectively brought to so many people over so many years. (Including myself). Please don’t stop! Ever! A fan.
and here is the heart and soul of our lockdown hero/ines. Thank you for sharing your rich herstory with us. The perfect description of how your art makes us feel: An ax so benign that even a baby could float on it. Yes.
I was riveted to my chair watching this video to find out so much history about the band I mean the the orchestra with all the lovely touching details thanks a million
Brilliant! Loved seeing all the footage of the "Formative Years". Didn't help us get over our crush on Hester though, now she's been married a whole year. (Congratulations!). Wonderful interactions within the group. Much Fun, More Joy! It's great to hear supportive impressions of each praising the musical expertise of the others. We would all like More. Thank you for all the years entertaining all around the world. Cheers!
A great look behind the scenes. I had a hunch that the UOGB might all like to have a beer or a wine or three but I was surprised to see some of the group smoking. The times they are a changing.
I hadn't heard of the band before (I live in Canada) & don't know how I stumbled across them on TH-cam but I'm absolutely delighted I did! Great documentary and lockdown videos!
Saw the Orchestra play a little gig in Chelsea that my brother was lighting back in 2003 and was blown away by 'Shaft', 'Purple Haze' and just fell in love with your version of 'Leaning on a Lamp'. Looking forward to see you over here in Boston at some point in the future.
Great stuff! A wonderful watch. Would be nice to see a similar programme made now, emcompassing the different members and changes that have happened since.
I love this. Behind the scenes make it more personal and real. I would love to see them live either in the UK or here in the U.S. maybe here in California where I am and many others would enjoy seeing the Ukelele Orchestra!! Thank you for sharing! ❤ Stay safe😊
Totally enjoyed this film! So many positive things to say about it and only one sad thing... Kitty Lux is so terribly missed, I am sure. Warm regards, UOGB from across the pond!
0:18 Money back because it wasn't what they expected? You should get a bonus for that! You always make me smile. Getting away with anything as creative as you guys are is what makes you great!
Thank you! A uke/bass collection video from Jonty will be available in the coming weeks. We also hope to have a bass tutorial with him to post in the future. Stay tuned!
A very personal and vivid documentation of one of the liveliest and talented formations this world has ever seen - as I think*.... * as agreed, please transfer the 2 pounds for this recension to my bank account as always ;)
One of the best and most enjoyably informative books you can buy is 'Get plucky with the ukulele' by Will-Grove White. Find the original version if you can, rather than the later reprint which is nowhere near as nice in the way they reduced costs by changing the format.
History can be dry and boring...( I will duck from the historians now) but to get the history of the orchestra and how each of you fit in is just great. I stumbled on you via TH-cam and now look forward to seeing what you are doing and how you evolved. The same bunch of characters bringing the ukulele to everyone by playing the great, good, well known and arrangements that only “you lot” could think of is just great. Roll on getting back to the new normal.... Amacf
Love this so much. Mr H and I are currently arguing over whether we’ve actually seen you live or just watched your videos so much reality has got blurry. For the sake of my marriage it’d be better if you come back and play Sheffield again so we know for definite (once the current apocalypse has been politely resolved.) But yes this is a brilliant film x
You think I'm going to bother watching something 39 and a half minutes long on TH-cam? 😒 The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain? Oh, alright then! 👏👏👏😊👍
So here's a question from an American point of view. I get the whole concept of this group, your songs are great, showmanship is on point, everything is tip top professional. So why, if you are playing in Britain/Europe, wherever, if people want to hear the occasional George Formby song, why don't you incorporate a couple of the nicer ones into the act? You don't have to sing the smutty ones, you don't have to use banjoleles, or sing like him, but maybe just for the older folks a song or two. George was very important and nostalgic to the Depression and WW2 era folks, I'm sure you can find a couple of songs that would fit into the style of your act. I see on another video you have done an arrangement of the Leaning On The Lamppost, that one was great! Do another one. Maybe a slow song like, Ordinary People or Count Your Blessings And Smile. See now, here in America, if someone has a ukulele out, people my age say, oh play Tiptoe Thru The Tulips, because Tiny Tim here is kind of like the same reaction you have to George there. So if I am holding a uke I had better damn well know how to play Tiptoe, but I'm not going to sing it like Tiny Tim, because that's obnoxious, and it's a pretty song. I'd sing it like a normal person would. See my point? Yeah. ☮️☮️☮️☮️
All that and the Ying Tong Song as well! You've made a miserable old git very happy! Thank you.
I love seeing Kitty in this video.

The whole is greater than the sum of all its individual component parts.
Truely a National Treasure. God Save them all. And, please keep playing.
What a lovely bunch of human beans, lol, blooming marvelous, as always !
What a lovely look at a treasured group. Long may you pluck!
What we all want and need is an up to date documentary that's at least an hour long -- what you do is fabulous!!!
Pluck and the World Smiles With YOU. Thank you so much !
You are all lovely. I picked up my 1st uku two months ago I have caught the bug and am well aware that today there is so much more for a beginner. Thank you for this .
Are you still playing?
Awwww! Essence :-) What a privilege to have been at any of those Village Hall venues . Bless you guys.
Many thanks for lightening a sad time, lost someone to Covid and you’ve helped show there’s still people who care.
I can't wait. You people have really stepped up to help us all over the world, through the lockdown. Thanks for your generosity.

Love the door staff
A great documentary. It shows just how much has changed in only a few years. If you did a gig in a village hall now. You would have queues for miles.
Thank you for sharing this doc with us! I love it! ✨
Jonty and Will whistling “Some Mothers Do Have ‘Em” 👍👍👍👍
Yep. My cup of tea all the way!

I think Spike Milligan would approve, you folks are great, a glass of wine and the UOGB, how good can it get in this locked up state ???
