Steve Vai is an old-school rocker who has been at it since the late 70s. He is considered a legendary guitar player. He started out with Frank Zappa, who the boys of Polyphia happen to be big fans of. BTW, Steve is the older guy doing all the whammy stuff. Polyphia have an interview with him where they talk about how they wrote and collaborated on the song, music video, and even how the media received it. Very worth the watch. If you want slightly older Polyphia, a music video out of left-field would be "Look, But Don't Touch." It's a badass song with an absolutely bonkers music video that is VERY worth the reaction.
That tree style inlay is the "Tree of Life". Its on a lot (if not all) of Steve Vai's Signature guitars. Tim recently made his own version which you can see on his new signature nylon acoustic guitar at the start of this video. He calls it the "Tree of Death" and its basically a tree of life with a different design. His design is roses and thorns climbing the guitar fretboard
The trumpet player is Brasstracks, who's also featured on a track called Genesis their new album. Yes, your saying the name right and you should check G.O.A.T off of their New Levels, New Devils album and Nightmare on the Renaissance album. Those are 2 of my favorite tracks by them but to me, their entire catalog is great.
The fret board inlay is originally from a Steve Via signature guitar, and Tim has quite a few custom shop guitars with that fret board inlay, and his new signature guitar comes with it. Also Steve was the older guy on guitar. The trumpet player is Brasstracks? I think. And Polyphia is an instrumental band. I am only familiar with 3 songs of theirs with lyrics but i have not heard the entire new album yet.
the design is based on the steve vai one but customized. vai's design is called "tree of life", where tim's is "tree of death" with the added thorns. it's an homage to the original master steve vai and since his use of the design predates them meeting, a testament to vai's influence on him. tim "designed" it himself and had ibanez use it for his signature
@@daemon4202 i didn't realize they were different but i never looked it the Vai guitars as i don't like the JEM or PIA aesthetic so thanks for the correction. It didn't first appear on his new signature though as i have seen it on it least two of his other guitars. The one he uses on Upside Down and Sunset and i think one other before his new signature guitar.
Great reaction!! Hey man now you’ve got a taste of Steve Vai you’ve got to react to Tender Surrender. You won’t be disappointed! th-cam.com/video/Yw74sDWPH7U/w-d-xo.html Enjoy!😃😊
as a guitarist....you should prolly look up steve "should i know this guy" lol yes....yes you should hes one of the guitar gods still among us...the guitar he was playing is his signature guitar as well so when u said "his" guitar it literally was "his" lol
ok, you love music and play guitar yourself. Then stop everything you're doing and go listen all Steve Vai's work. He's one of the best guitar players ever, believe me. Easily in the top 10 or the like. nice react btw :) some work from Steve Vai I can recommend for your reacts: - Attitude Song - For the Love of God - Tender Surrender - Answers - The Hydra
@@MewingLlama I've heard it plenty of times, it's just that over him talking, I sometimes don't know what parts he's reacting to because I didn't hear the past 10 - 15 seconds.
Hey I'm that homie! :D Polyphia rocks!!!

Thank you for reacting to this. Steve has been pushing guitar boundaries for decades.
I'm excited to check out Steve Vai's music!
Steve Vai is a legend. If you want your mind to be blown, check out his video Teeth of the Hydra.
Yes. You should know who Steve Vai is.
6:30 Yes, that is Steve and yes, you should know this guy.
That’s steve… a genius legend guitarist.

Polyphia = Inter-dimensional Elevator Music.
Haha love that

If you want his guitar he just released it as an Ibanez custom.
I know steve vai best from the old movie clip where he battles the kid & loses.. Fun fact he wrote his solos & the kids apparently
The kid was in fact just one year younger than Vai as an actor :)
Did you just say of Steve Vai "should I know this guy?"
I did :( Don't roast me too hard, I have since learned the ways
Seems like you like Steve vai and the way he plays.. may I suggest a reaction from him bad horse, tender surrender, and for the love if god
Comment for the algorithm :)
Never heard the term closer, but i liked it. I ll use it😃
The name of the style is a branch of Progressive Rock called Math Rock
I would even call this a branch of math rock, being the unique funk they throw into their stuff.
Sees Basstracks playing trumpet says "Is this Steve!?" hahahahaha that was the funniest shit I've heard at least this week hahahaha
Tim hates the expression math rock but to be honest he is a guitar mathematician😂
Here's another guitarist you might appreciate, beautiful harmonies, plays the guitar like a harp - th-cam.com/video/rzXhnxJdPPQ/w-d-xo.html
Check out some more Steve Vai. th-cam.com/video/46qjDJ0lLdE/w-d-xo.html

Turn down your mic. Nobody can hear the song over your voice.
It's a reaction video... not a music video. I left the original video in the description if you just wanna listen to the song 👍

Between the scalloped frets and the whammy I can't imagine the control it takes to even have the guitar make sound
