I just rebuilt the T56 in my LS 240SX drift/street car so it’s neat to see the differences; watching you drive I can tell the magnum trans is more notchy/deliberate on shifting and has a shorter throw than the regular 6-speed👍
Life hack: The fuel gauge in your instrument panel has a fuel pump symbol. Next to the symbol is a triangle pointer and the side that the pointer is on (left or right of the fuel pump) indicates what side your fuel door is on.

Hey, just a heads up for basically every car-- Your gas gauge usually has an arrow inside of it pointing to the side the gas door is on. If it doesn't have an arrow, it's the side the gas gauge is on.
Did you ever look into a MagnumXL? I'm using one for my LS swap in my BRZ. The shifter on the XL is further back than the T56 and lines up dead center to where the stock one used to be!
This is why the T-56 is one of the most popular aftermarket and stock performance transmissions ever built, able to handle whatever amount of power you throw at it. The Magnum model shouldn't shear the synchronizers like a stock T-56, that's a common complaint.
Tbh the T56 isn’t a bad trans. It can support up to 500-600 HP. And with the right short shifter 👌🏽. The magnum is just a crazy beast and with the right shirt shifter is an entirely different beast!
It's amazing how much more drivable it is with the new turbo setup. If you and/or your viewers go back and look at the 'What it's like to drive a 3 rotor RX7' video (something like that) you'll be surprised how different it is. The old setup had the worst turbo lag imaginable. I wonder how much power it would have had with all rotors running full song. Perhaps my 889 hp guess might have been closer. ;-) Thanks for the video, Rob. I always love seeing your RX-7 content!
You can pick these transmissions up for $1500, and they come bolted to an aluminum-block LS motor, so if you need a swap... T56 holds a lot more power than most other OEM transmissions. I would love to see a T56 and K-swapped Miata. Makes for a heavier trans but a lighter engine, which shifts the weight distribution more rear-ward to get that extra honda power down.

Or use shifter extenders that may not fit under the car between the transmission and transmission tunnel. Admittedly, you can now get the Magnum F, which is a true drop-in replacement. But it was a long time coming, which forced MANY people to buy the ill-fitting original. Of course, the Magnum F also costs more.

The LS definitely isn't meant to go up around 8000+ rpm, so how's the t56 hold up at those kinds of rpms on the rotary?
