- Avatar customization in ROBLOX has come a very long way since the start of the platforms development in late 2003, and since the full official release in 2006. In this video, I talk about the many things that have been done to push the boundaries of what can be considered a ROBLOX avatar.

Actually the happy home of robloxia was built in 2006 of march
I think it's worth mentioning people with incredibly _tiny_ avatars. I think they only work on R15 servers, but using a specific combination of body package parts, you can get an avatar that's about as tall as a regular avatar's _legs._ The combination I typically see is: "Elemental Crystal Golem" head, "Jester Equinox" torso, "Magma Fiend" legs, and I believe arms don't really matter. Combine all of the above with the Ninja animation pack, and you have an avatar that is literally broken in some games.
There are also the giant avatars.

The exploits possible back then were totally unacceptable, even by the software security standards of the time. The developers responsible for Roblox at that time were not at all experienced in security. I remember copy-pasting scripts into chat that would break the game and basically do what hacking tools would do. What a horrid system they had lol.
Yep. It makes absolutely no sense to any competent software developer to take any change requested by any client at any time and go "Sure, here you go!"
There current model is far more selective and appropriate with what'd you'd expect In any modern game, however things such as the client being able to destroy their own body parts, remove their own humanoid and replace it, etc. And have the server go willy nilly is unacceptable. They can't really do much about the movement exploits because many games depend on this behavior and generalized solutions don't fit every game, but humanoid deletion is a different story.
Yet it seems they're more focused on innovating with strong engine fundamentals as an afterthought, otherwise Particle Emitters with large size wouldn't be enough to put modern computers at 30fps 🤔

As someone that exploiting in Roblox, sometimes I wonder if i argue with someone and i got reported once because i harass him. i got banned for 3 days and there was like hundred of hundred report of me because im cheating and i didn't get banned,i sometimes surprised if i got banned in some game but i tried it again but now it's in other alt and i exploit in that game not as obvious as before and i pass,i teach my brother how to do exploit in this game, and he did it one try

There used to be a glitch way back in 2009-2011 (I think) where certain tshirts would make your character's body invisible if you also made your body white, but the tshirt image would still be shown. It only worked on the 2D render on the site. I had one where it was a stickfigure skateboarding, so all you would see is my character's head and a stickfigure body skateboarding.
I had with Gangnam style and a business stick figure holding a bag of money.
i think it actually worked until early mid 2015, i remember people exploiting it to make themselves look like a baby on the profile page

I'm not sure if this one is glitch-related to an avatar, but when wearing content-deleted outfits will allow you to mask your real avatar with greyed unavailable icon, which is also makes your profile pic in-game hidden, which is good for masking your presence in menu player-list (not the leaderboards)
this could be used for trolling staff in games with custom names that mask your real name

great video! I always loved learning about roblox history and oddities about the site so this really got me interested in doing my own research again. I knew about some of the xml exploits but I somehow never knew that transparent and reflective avatars used to be a possibility. the part about miked being able to be moved around and broken with the move tool reminded me of a glitch where I could delete my friend's avatar out of my server with the old 2011 btools
finding a web vulnerability back then was pretty easy, not many websites were worried about security flaws back then, and didn't had much experience with security fixes, this goes back before roblox, just an important fact to take notice

I thought you were going to mention the hats that play sounds, or the ones that explode if not worn by admins. The latter have been used in exploits to just repeatedly kill everyone in the server.
Love this channel, man. Roblox has a presence on youtube with let’s plays, but this level of discussion is really cool and rare.

great video! One thing i find interesting is that some people in the M U G E N group seem to have transparent limbs too. Not sure how they did this but very interesting nontheless. Most of the accounts with this glitch seem to have been created around similar timeframes, so maybe there was an exploit that allowed this to happen? no clue.

This type of content is something I rarely ever see on Roblox TH-cam and it's really interesting to see a video made of it. While playing this game I've also tried many weird and wacky avatars like the optical illisions or troll outfits like vending machines, uno reverse cards, etc

I would say it was still possible to get it for free but with a content deleted t-shirt
If you wore it you got a default place avatar (not shown in-game tho but only on profile page).
And sometimes it even error'd SOME scripts (like auto-shirt and pants thingy in some games where it automaticly applies on you by server)

The avatar glitch that I REMEMBER is the "headless glitch" you pretty much equipt any hat and in certain games your head will be gone and only your face will show, i think it gotten fixed later in 2016 or late 2014

Around 2015-16 or so, there were shirts that made your entire body invisible on your profile page. They were used with t-shirts to make it look like you were a carrot or stick figure.
the homestead furniture contest was cool. Man the transparent avatar were cool.

I had a friend who used scripts in a game (that didn't have much moderation, because many people use scripts in the game), they'd have all the national fedoras that would just encircle his avatar, and they could even move around and do some cool stuff. I forgot how they did it but it was pretty cool.

i'm not really sure if this counts as something like this, but a while ago, there was a broken toycode item on Roblox called "Badcc's jailbreaker" and idk if much people know about it but it was a back accesory that didn't appear on your back, instead, if you join a game that allows you to access gear slots menu at all, you could hold the crowbar from it, it didn't do anything, but it was a neat "bypassed" "gear", I kinda wanted to bring this up because I have not once heard anybody talk about this, but it was fairly cool
If you cared to look at the wiki for it, it tells you that it had a sword script and that's why.
