- Miljenko Matijević is a Croatian born singer who moved to the U.S. as a kid and became the frontman of legendary rock band Steelheart. Among other projects he also sang the vocals for Mark Wahlberg’s character in the 2001 movie Rock Star. In this episode he explains his immigration story and his desire to return to the country of his birth and perform in Croatia! Miljenko also talks about the about the on-stage accident that almost killed him, as well as why one of his songs became the most popular karaoke song in South Korea!

Miljenko is not only a great singer & musical artist he also comes across as a sincere & humble man. I hope Croatia recognises their son & give him the reception & accolades he deserves because his singing range & power is insane.
Love he didn't change his name like a lot of the rock singers do.

Best singer out there! I can't think of any singers from back in the 80s or early 90s who can still sing like they did then, but this guy can still belt it the same and he can do it live without singing to a tract. So much talent. Id say its really hard to keep your voice in great shape when you sing notes like he does for 30 plus years and still sound phenomenal
Milijenko is absolutely phenomenal without a doubt. There is another singer who I believe can do the same. His name is Geoff Tate from queensryche. In my opinion Geoff and Mili are the top two singers of all time. I'm so happy for him to have the continued success, he has put in the work, so he deserves it.

So happy you interviewed him !!! I am a big fan and have been following his career for years. But also I have a similar story myself and can very much relate to Miljenko 's life experiences. I was born in Vukovar and brought to US at age 7 around the same time period as him and have been a professional rock singer regionally and of course on a much, much smaller scale of success in the music industry. Mili...AWESOME show at The Coach House, San Juan Capistrano 2 wks ago...introduced my daughter to 80s hairbands awhile back and she LOVES STEELHEART....once I got wind of tour dates...got tix and took my daughter for her bday to see Steelheart....man, you've never missed a beat from the first time I heard Steelheart back in 1989 on Pirate Radio...went out and got the album once it became available...still have it to this day...💯👍🏻🍻

it's wild to me that he has basically 0 work outside of steelheart. Never featured on anything (except the rockstar movie), no side projects, no other releases, no nothing. Kind of a shame there isn't more of him
When I saw rockstar, I instantly knew the voice DEFINITELY wasn’t Wahlberg’s. He was never anywhere near Millie’s level.
