Can i just say its so cool how many female conpetetive players there are, I think it's awesome that we have such a non-toxic community that people of all walks of life can succeed without the discrimination so many other games have.
It’s honestly great. When I show people from other esports they always do a double take and I realize how special it is that I think that’s NORMAL because it SHOULD BE.
I was going to say as a girl, i feel really comforted and proud by the fact that there is a game where i can say I feel safe in. i feel really put off by other gaming communities and tournaments..
completely agree! i’m nonbinary but splatoon’s community is so diverse and accepting; its so nice to see so many amazing people to interact with and enjoy this amazing franchise together, without the downside of an obnoxiously toxic fanbase.

The algorithm seems to be really pushing this one and that's a great sign. Vids like this are a great showcase of what competitive Splatoon is like and how hype it is... and the algorithm being a fan should mean a lot of people start getting a taste.
i know theres been a lot of talk recently about getting splaton's competitive side seen more-this kind of video is a good idea! like i'm wondering why i haven't seen any tournament highlight videos before now (maybe i just wasn't looking, but still) but yeah, nice video 👍
There really aren’t any highlight videos, and it’s so upsetting because it’s stuff like this that got me into esports in the first place. So, I figured I could do one.
love this !! seeing moments from LANs is so so cool bc you can hear just how hype everyone is, especially in such close sets. would love to see more highlight videos like this!
It’s honestly so upsetting that there isn’t more focus on archival or studying the past stories in our scene. So many great games, players, and tournaments have happened, and whenever I bring any of it up to newer players they just go “what was that” and I die inside.
@@magic8ball358 I did a bit of research and am familiar with most of the great events, teams and players before my times as comp player, but I'm sad i didn't know about them before it was the past, if that makes any sense
must be nice having good communication between teammates lol. you never see that when just playing online with/against randoms, makes me wish splat 3 had a voice chat option like so many other team shooters do
Easily some of the most enjoyable clips were the ones from Splatoon 1 mainly because not a whole lot of people have seen the competitive side of that game considering the system it was on and just how it didn't have a competitive scene the early days
Can someone explain the clip around 0:45, I don't get what's so crazy about it. It just looks like a regular failed overtime to me but I'm not super familiar with the competitive scene
SettoDestroyX had been on an almost undefeated streak of tournaments for about 8 months. They were by far the best team in the West and arguably in the world. Legacy, although they had players from strong teams, were a heavy underdog for this set. When the commentators say "this is the biggest upset in Splatoon 2 history" they meant it. I don't know if any others can quite live up to this.
This was the first LAN back after COVID, so it was a massive tournament to see how the landscape had changed. FTWin had been uncontested champions for years. There were some issues with travel restrictions, so some of them couldn’t end up going, but some of the main players like Kyo and Biscuit still did. Starburst had always been in the running but never quite got to the top. Especially players like Ice had been at the top and were veterans, but it seemed like they hadn’t found their groove and won anything in a while. Starburst brought out some CRAZY compositions that absolutely changed the meta, including an ABSURD silver aerospray pick in GAME 5 (a weapon with very low viability at the highest level, at least that’s how it was seen). It was an upset. It was a stacked tournament. It was the first in a long time. And the kings had been dethroned as one of the most boring strategic (pulling the rainmaker back to base) moments had people shouting and screaming. It was incredible live. Starburst had turned it around.
In competition, squidbags are moreso for the camera or meant to be a popoff rather than harmful taunting. There’s plenty more that can be done that would be really disrespectful, like taking a “drip pic” while the match is still going on.
(I’ll probably make a video showing these off at some point but) the team all stops what they’re doing, goes to the same spot in the map, stands together facing one direction, sometimes even posing, and then use the screen capture. This all happens *while they are still in a tournament match*.
@@magic8ball358 I will subscribe to you now, because you’ve been so helpful and I’m interested in learning more about the competitive side of splatoon. I‘m a casual player, but I’d still like to get better and not die in so many dumb ways haha!
my favorite part is when they said "it's Splatoon time" and Splatoon'd the enemy team and got the lead at the last 30 seconds
Should have said “splatted”.
They really splatooned all over those people
They inked them all

Why wouldnt it be
its not a big deal
