After this season there's only like 10-20 chapters left to adapt by this season's endpoint. But that gives all the US fans plenty of time to get everyone on board

I think you're probably rihgt. When they asked kuga to show them a new trick, he showed them exactly that, a trick. It was something that would only work once and not be too practical in a battle. We've also seen him do it plenty of times before.
Not to spoil the fun but Kuga actually mentions later that there was no reaction time to even pull up a shield or such a thing. Yuba's Range is extremely short but in a 1v1 where the distance between him and his Opponent is like here, his chance of losing when he draws his Pistols are basically 0.
I’m pretty sure kuga just wanted to see how fast his shots really were since he mentioned him being faster than in true logs. Also it made it pretty obvious that he was testing things when yuba who just obliterated kuga in a 1v1.. said he wouldn’t want to fight him one on one

"#1 Attacker, #1 Shooter, #1 Gunner" Tachikawa, Ninomiya, and Satomi respectively. All-Rounder may be ranked separately so theirs technically no #1, but Reiji is the only "perfect all-rounder" so you could assume he's #1 there. Anyway, no one is designated as #1 overall in the series, unless you count Shinoda whos said to be the strongest with a normal trigger (Though they may have been specifically talking about kogetsu since it was the first trigger so that may be the "normal trigger" to them). Agents are given roles for a reason. That's why when HQ was attacked you had only attackers in the close range space inside and Ninomiya and shooters mostly outside taking control there. If you put Tachikawa against Nino or Satomi the fight would more than likely fall to them unless Tachikawa could get in close, but without his team it'd be extremely difficult. ***Minor Spoiler Below**** Yuba's revolvers put him just out of range of the furthest attack possible with a kogetsu whirlwind, which was its intent, however Ikoma made his longer with the full intention of countering Yuba, the only thing is its only possible with Ikoma and no one else can mimic it unless they up their reaction time and draw speed.

Kuga was feeling him out yes but nothing short of a black trigger or Chika's shield can withstand the quickdraw of Yuba, he later comments to Osamu that there was nothing he could have done there to survive that quickdraw.
That is the whole point of this expedition. He wanted to gauge Yuba, but the whole exchange with obishima happened. Yuba did give him a peek at his capabilities once he showed one of his scorpion tricks.
The comment section seems confused. Kuga was trying to see how fast Yuba could fire but he also didn't expect it to be so fast. But also this was the ideal situation for Yuba. Kuga would have a better chance in any other situation but the chances of him going down is still there since Yuba has somewhat of a range advantage. Also even if he got his shield put up, Kuga would have still gotten shot. Like how Inukai's shield broke when he got shot at by Yuba and he lost his hand.

Well there is a difference between a one v one dual which is a completely artificial fight compared to an actual squad rank battle or even a normal solo rank battle where you would start out moving already and have a chance to use terrain to your advantage.
Crazy how this is the best new gen shounen to come out in the last two decades but it has flowen under the radar while its better then mha,black clover, demon slayer and jujutsu kaisen.

Yuba is literally the best gunner in Border. Yuma is approximately the number 4 fight er. This was a loss simple as that.
