So sad that Lakeland is no longer the place it once was. Almost every business shown in this film is long gone. Companies have either moved to other places or went out of business. Lakeland has become overdeveloped and a traffic nightmare. Too many houses being built, too many warehouses and the beauty of this town is rapidly vanishing.

Yes it is. But I live in Lakeland. It was a sprawling laidback town back 45 years ago. Now it’s a sprawling, overcrowded, & has lost much of its charm and friendliness. I guess they call it progress 😢

Agree, especially that “Lawton Chiles Headquarters” shown around the two minute mark; yeah, I voted for the “old he coon” back in the day!

Fun video! They do take some liberties with what is in Lakeland… Interesting, while they show Publix (Southgate Plaza location?), they’re the biggest growth story from Lakeland; and Eckerd Drugs was sold off years ago… There’s still plenty of “old Florida” in Lakeland…

3:58 - 1968 World Champions in a 1963 video? TIME TRAVEL IS REAL!!!
5:08 - A late 1970s metal tennis racket? (I had one just like it, in 1977.) TIME TRAVEL IS REAL!!!

Love seeing the 1967 cars in 1963, had me cracking up at "progressive's schools".
