You need to take a winter trip to go snowmobiling in Wisconsin, Michigan or Minnesota. There are great trails and great people that enjoy snowmobiling. Going ice fishing on Sunday was so you could watch the games on Sunday and not be bothered. Use to be like a big family gathering, game on the TV in the hut and way too much snack food.

My experience with Nebraskans (especially from Omaha) is that have a tight network all over the world. They have antennas for other Nebraskans (even those born there who left) and instantly connect. It’s like NYC people, especially from Manhattan. They instantly dominate the conversation with streets, addresses, and places i have no concept of. At least that was true until i had several years of being able to go down there from time to time.

Former WI resident here, left in '09 for VA, never going back either. Just boring, it is what it is, will always be where I am from, but no longer or will ever be home to me again. You sure do have it right that WI residents just never move, with the exception of FL, they go to FL in droves too.
I would suggest that the MKE Brewers be put on the list, they are the biggest disappointing thing in that state, come playoff time, bust every year. So many friends of mine that still live in WI, are so big on this team year over year, and then bang, like clockwork, their done, stick a fork in them, their done, better luck next year.

You're right--Nebraskans are sensitive to criticism. I commented on a video about Omaha and I found out that the residents there are overly defensive of their city. It isn't a very interesting place. I don't think some of them have traveled elsewhere though. I liked the town of Lincoln, but mostly Nebraska is farmland and small towns---a wonderful life for most of the people there, but not to everyone's taste. Believe it or not, there are ski areas in Iowa. BTW I live in St. Louis, Missouri and I have to drive 50 miles east to Illinois if I want to find a beach. th-cam.com/video/axdyBCBXHr4/w-d-xo.html

I'm surprised the WI job market was seen as a negative. It's not as good as the MN or Northern Illinois...but is way better than say Nebraska, Iowa, Southern Illinois, or Indiana. As for Wisconsin not having downhill skiing? Wisconsin has the 3rd most ski resorts (33) in the nation! The comments about WI, Nebraska and IA being flat isn't very accurate. WI has 31% flat land...making it the hilliest state in the Midwest (unless you count Missouri or PA...those are hillier). Illinois is the second flattest state in the union. The second hilliest state in the midwest is a three way tie between Nebrakaska, Ohio and Iowa. Remember, Iowa has the Driftless area in the northeast plus the Missouri and Mississippi river corridors. And western Nebraska has some gorgeous foothills. You should do a video on the flattest and least flattest states...but based on actual data. It's actually quite interesting and burst a lot of stereotypes. Lot of what you said was right though...like all the smelly farms. What really stinks from the farms more than the manure though is all the trash and woodsmoke the farmers burn...that is way worse.

For claiming to not care about politics so much, you sure do have a lot of opinions about them. I'm not saying that none what you are reporting is inaccurate, but I now know why I hated living in Northwestern Oregon. The people in Portland are just way too opinionated and believe that their opinions are relevant to everyone. Maybe it's just a magnet for those kinds of people, I don't know, but it is a fact. I've lived in many US states, some while in the military, some by choice. I've even lived in Russia for almost 4 years, in Latvia for 18 months and Ukraine for 6 months all while teaching English, so I know a lot of different climes and places. I am a Native Northern Californian, living there right up until I joined the military, but have lived a semi-nomadic life since I was 18. I have lived for significant amounts of time in Oregon, Nevada, North Carolina, Idaho and now I live in South Dakota. Yes, there are things about the Midwest that definitely suck. The same can be said about most every place you can light, even places like paradisical Hawai'i. It rarely stops raining for very long in Northwestern Oregon. It sucks to be constantly cleaning mold & mildew and avoiding self-deletion due to seasonal affect depression. In Northern California, it was earthquakes, grass (the drug kind) and meth in over abundance, causing bad teeth, lethargy and a listlessly unimpressive youth for most. It was the heat in Southern Nevada, no two ways about it. The 3 months it wasn't hot were actually okay. In Eastern Piedmont North Carolina, it was the oppressive heat & humidity in summers, occasional hurricanes and, well, being in the Marines during those pleasantries. I loved being in the Marines, but I could have done without the bad conditions of North Carolina for sure! Now, it's South Dakota. Not just SD, but out in the boonies, in the middle of nowhere rural south-central South Dakota! Not that I've had to deal with any tornados, but there was a class 5 one back ion 1965 right where I live now, so thar ya go. The winters are the most severe that I've ever witnessed, and I lived in Western Siberia for a few years! And it is bone-crushingly boring here! I have almost no complaints about living in Idaho, except that all of the Californians, Portlandians, Seattleites flooded in and ruined the housing market there, making my recently divorced butt ineligible for a mortgage in that lovely state, so it was off the windy, boring South Dakota for my cheap ass! Every place has its failings and its high points. I'm not finding many good things about South Dakota right now, but I may have just lived a spoiled existence.

I waited through the whole video to hear you roast Illinois. No Illinois. You said you left out Ohio and Kansas so that leaves the rest of them. Illinois is one of the rest of them. As a matter of fact we have the largest population of the midwest states. We have the largest city in the midwest with over 2.6 million people. That's almost the population of Iowa. Being from Illinois I know we have plenty of reasons for someone not to move here.
