Well one good thing for waiting this long is that you get the remastered versions, assuming you’re playing those. Since I haven’t watched yet, if you are playing the remastered, a reminder to switch back and forth to the original from time to time. It’s crazy how much it’s changed since its initial release. Though if you’ll indulge a little more rambling, some history with this game including a tiny personal note about that history. So when Halo was first announced long ago, it originally debuted at a conference called Macworld. That’s because the company behind it, Bungie, was a long standing developer for Apple Macintosh for a long time and made some great classic FPS games for them. The game they showed however was rather different, for starters, it was more of a real time strategy game instead of a first person shooter. Fast forward sometime into development and big old Microsoft comes and buys up Bungie becomes an Xbox exclusive company and the game starts becoming the game we know today. The personal note I previously mentioned is in regards to that move by Microsoft, in those days though I was a PC gamer as well, I was also a much bigger Apple fanboy for professional and nostalgic reasons. Long story short, (too late!) I was very bitter that MS “stole” this game from Apple and refused to play it. I also didn’t have an Xbox so there was also that, but even years after getting one I still was pissed at them so I never played the game. In the end I eventually played all the games and let go of my hard feelings to discover a series of fairly great (although I still feel slightly over hyped games) Though they do have a fantastic set of stories and probably the greatest musical score for any shooter game of all time. They’re quite fun and I wish you all the best and great fun with this game and perhaps the series to follow if it indeed takes over your personality.
Oh one more thing about switching to original graphics, you can even do it during cut scenes. Of all the remaster features from games, I wish all remasters would have this feature.
I dont know if anyone already told u this but u have two weapons. :D u can switch between them with I ,so u have a pistol and a rifle.. :) so when u run out of bullets u can just switch to the other weapon its faster than reloading.. :D Welcome to HALO :D
36:08 you got killed by an empty banshee. Not sure what you did there, but this could be a new speedruns tactic, because usual you are not supposed to have an empty banshee on the ground. This could surpass the speedruns by so much time. If anyone is capable of reproducing it.

😂😂😂 i was just thinking about commenting on one of your videos to tell you she's making the same mistakes! At least you figured out how to switch between your two weapons in the first level 😅😅 Loving this, and can't wait to watch both of you moving forward in your journeys.
I personally recommend avoiding clicking on the flashing yellow terminals you found at 50:48. They were added in the anniversary edition to give returning players extra lore, but they contain spoilers for later games so aren't the best for a blind playthrough. As for difficulty, do whatever makes you feel comfortable. The game does get harder as the levels progress. Heroic is a distinct step up from Normal, but is not meant to be like a true Hard mode (that's Legendary). Lastly, you hold 2 weapons at all times and can switch between them. I'm not sure what the default key bind is on keyboard, but it should be in the menu if you look it up. Good luck on your playthrough! I love this series and look forward to seeing more. :)
Awesome to see new people entering the franchise. 2 tips - 1 you have a secondary weapon you can hold, use, and change. And 2, I recommend going into settings and checking the control for weapon zoom. You'll need it next mission

A lot of assets and models were reused from Halo: Reach (2010), which already had a very different look compared to the Halo trilogy. Halo: CE has a unique art style that the remaster just doesn’t capture, so sticking with the original visuals gives you the more authentic experience. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is the perfect example of how to *NOT* remaster a game. Now, Halo 2 Anniversary, that’s a different story. That’s a proper remake, rebuilt from the ground up, and they nailed it. It stays true to the original while upgrading everything beautifully. But yeah, the Halo: CE remaster? Not the best way to experience this classic. Hopefully one day we'll see a proper Remake of Halo: Combat Evolve that's more true to the original art direction. Edit: Forgot to mention but the same team behind Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary worked on the Halo 2 Anniversary. So they learnt a lot in between the two projects from the feedback Halo: CE Anniversary reserved from fans and reviews.
This is really interesting, it definitely seemed quite a jump between the original and the remaster - I wondered if that was a time thing, over art. I’m going to keep checking in, so I can see both styles, and keep reading the comments… maybe we need 2 playthroughs 🤣👀
@@PhoenixNat My understanding is that the original had more of a horror atmosphere slant with the darker lighting and muted colors while the remake brought the game more in line with the art style of the later games as well as showcasing the Xbox 360's power at the time. Its still the same game, just a different take on the atmosphere in my opinion. Looking forward to the rest of the playthrough, Halo Reach and 3 are tied for my favorites in the series but they are all a lot of fun!

OMG I loved your reaction on the intro tutorial it was so cute and hilarious When I first played halo I was so little I didnt know how to change it back when I accidentally picked the inverted settings and ended up playing on inverted for a few days. For the life of me I couldnt figure out what was wrong, but something just felt wrong about the aiming 😅 also, loved how you explored all doors and corridors, getting confused where to go next :3 glad to know I wasnt the only one who did this first playthrough
Yay! This will be lots of fun! The music is so good! The main theme is definitely one of the most iconic themes of all time. Love it! The little grunt enemies are one of the cutest enemies that you get to kill for sure! I kinda feel bad for them. They seem a bit like cannon fodder. 😂 Concerning the input, play however you like it best. The game was made for console and is to this day still one of the best console FPS. Never played it on PC, but if it feels good to you, no need to change it.

And there are small details that have been removed in anniversary. You can play however you want. But its important. Especially for a certain level later on in the game. Awesome to see another player step into the Halo series! Quick tip, the lower right works better for the webcam for this and Halo 2. Where you have it now is covering the shield and health UI. (haven't watched the whole thing yet so if you mentioned it during the video I didn't see)
1:14:52 if you are going to drop off a structure to a lower level, instead of jumping, try just walking off the ledge. because master chief jumps so high that he takes damage from high jumps, but minimal damage if walking off.
i remember buying the Xbox and looking for some games to try, this was the 1st one i picked up,.. i ended up beating it on expert with my niece. i made her a fan as well 😂 i subbed to see more, brings back some nice memories!

Love seeing people play the franchise for the first time! Halo was designed for the Xbox controller, which doesn't make it better, that was just it's design. There is an aiming assistant which made controller aiming more viable. Do whatever you're more comfortable with, but maybe give the controller a try. I would recommend skipping the terminals - they were added for the remaster stuff and are made for long time fans, not first time players. They will spoil and confuse new players. You (Master Chief) carries two weapons, and you can switch between them. I don't know the keymap for mouse and keyboard for switching weapons. In Halo CE, there isn't iron sights, but certain weapons do have scopes. Including the pistol. You didn't break the mission going through the caves. It was unfortunate that you lost your marines, but marines don't need to survive for you to finish your missions. Also they are very fragile, and will die if the warthog so much as breaths on them.
30:43 it does get more difficult later on, they introduce a lot harder enemies, and they carry more powerful weapons, normal is a good level to start on, this is still the 1st level, just to introduce you to the battle.
41:56 the blue plasma grenades are sticky, if you hit an enemy it will stick to him, but be careful, if you are turning and throwing, it may hit a wall and bounce back onto you and stick. 🤕
The Warthog is such an experience to new players. It starts off as "What? I get to drive this? Cool!". Then later, it becomes ... "Oh no! I flipped it." ""Oh crap! I ran over my friend." "Oh sh!t. I drove off a cliff." 😂 Hopefully by the end, it's like "Yeah! Let's go!" and driving circles around the enemies, being badass lol edit: Tip for the Warthog. Stay mobile and your teammates will take care of the rest 😂
7:35 I did this in the game on the original xbox, I was too little to understand how to change the settings and play the game in general for that matter. So, naturally, I learned to play Halo inverted. In fact, I can still do both! 😂
Play controller if u feel it’ll be easier. I feel obliged to note, the “original” way to play would be with an Xbox controller, but the decision is entirely up to you, of course. These games rock, and are one of my favourite series of games, ever!
The problem is, the Xbox controller is also quite foreign to me too, mnk is definitely easier for me. I fear how terrible the gameplay will be on controller 😬

I’m a console pleb at heart, so the thought of playing without a controller puts the fear of god in me! A series worth getting through: the Crysis Trilogy 🙂 - which is somewhat a cross between Halo and Gears Of War... with a little bit of 'The Matrix' thrown in around the edges by the time you finish the final game
@@PhoenixNat The Remastered Trilogy pack should be on sale in post storefronts going into New Years - which I recommend if you're sticking with PC, since while the first Crysis can still melt modern GPUs almost two decades later, it's only optimized for single-core CPUs... plus, you get nicer textures all around

30:09 you learn to ignore the bots, they are shooting each other, and getting mad at each other for shooting themselves. when played on expert, they don't last long in a battle, just good for dropping weapons with ammo for you. 😂
Excellent. Tip: you are playing against Covenant - you very quickly noticed in the 1st level that their own plasma weapons are excellent against them. But in the 2nd mission you discovered that the assault rifle is hopeless - it's too inaccurate, with limited stopping power and projectile weapons aren't good at shields. THROW THE ASSAULT RIFLE AWAY. NEVER USE IT. You carry two weapons & can switch between them: make one a shield-stripper plasma weapon, and the 2nd - the pistol. Yes, the pistol. The best weapon in the game, unless you have a sniper rifle [what? there's a sniper rifle...well, there were several to be found in that 2nd mission...]. Seriously. The pistol is headshot capable at ridiculously long range, and a single headshot kills ANY Covenant that currently has no shield [with one exception...]. The pistol is a God-tier weapon and should always be carried in normal combat - even on Normal... And here's a question for you. How come the Chief can operate all the alien mechanisms? Hmmm...
mouse vs controller, id recommend controller but that's really preference, absolutely stick to original graphics for CE though, items might be prettier in the remaster but the whole mood of the game is ruined because the team behind the remaster wanted to show off what they could do instead of maintaining the feel
As a true halo fan myself. I will say Halo is a very solid choice for playthrough. The music, the atmosphere it's so.. different. However the story in every halo game. Is cryptic... So being confused/unclear about story is natural. So dont feel bad about that. Also bear in mind plasma weapons in Halo CE are overpowered. And once you get to halo 2. It gets reallyy good. Good luck and have fun. Cant wait for you to experience halo 2 and 3. And Reach. And Halo 4. They are so peak!!!
If you are playing through the master chief collection on PC then it should let you switch back and forth between the two graphic engines. I would recommend playing on the OG. They kind of butchered a lot of the visual artstyle with this one. Just a suggestion though overall you’ll get the same experience.
This game is kinda hard to play even on Normal difficulty if you're just a beginner, don't change to higher difficulty if you want to survive😂😅 just enjoy the game!
Also I do not recommend Heroic or legendary for first time players. Especially....HALO 2. Oh good golly, that game is insanely hard on legendary. I recommend normal difficulty. Especially on Halo 2. Halo 2 is infamously difficult. The halo community fears few things, but halo 2.... it scares us. And halo doesn't have sprint until Halo reach and halo 4.
Wow this is awesome! But you are definitely as green as the grass! 😂 I definitely recommend giving a controler a try I think you may fair better playing with a it. The only advice i could offer is just keep looking all around you and keep moving. Their are/is going to be certain areas where you have to push through! because lingering back for to long will cause enemys to keep spawning in on you! Luckily for you those areas don't really happen until later on so you're good for now. Try and hang on to that magnum and a plazma pistol! U can overcharge it on Elites to knock down their shields then quickly switch to your magnum for a headshot, very quick kills!
Please play in the old Graphics (by pressing tab) for the best experience, reason being is that the remaster decimated the atmosphere especially in the later levels. By the way wouldn't worry about playing on keyboard it doesn't really matter.
Hi Nat. A blind Halo playthrough this really is Christmas. Thank you . Just a couple of technical points. There is no run button . I’m not sure who would win in a race Master Chief or Nathan Drake. The alien weapons have battery that gets depleted but it should show you how much you’ve got left in the top left corner . I’d avoid the terminals if I were you unless the consensus in the comments is against me . They put one on every level as extras in the Master Chief collection but in a first playthrough they’re really spoilers. I subscribed recently because im a big uncharted fan so thanks for that . If you really wanted to playthrough the Halo franchise, you could've started with Halo: Reach which is set right before Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary (the end cutscenes of H:R is same as the intro cutscenes of H:CEA, sort of like how the end of Rogue One matches or blends with the beginning of A New Hope).

Halo was designed for the Xbox controller, which doesn't make it better, that was just it's design. There is an aiming assistant which made controller aiming more viable. Do whatever you're more comfortable with, but maybe give the controller a try.
I would recommend skipping the terminals - they were added for the remaster stuff and are made for long time fans, not first time players. They will spoil and confuse new players.
You (Master Chief) carries two weapons, and you can switch between them. I don't know the keymap for mouse and keyboard for switching weapons.
In Halo CE, there isn't iron sights, but certain weapons do have scopes. Including the pistol.
You didn't break the mission going through the caves. It was unfortunate that you lost your marines, but marines don't need to survive for you to finish your missions. Also they are very fragile, and will die if the warthog so much as breaths on them.
I swear they’re made of toothpicks these marines, it did make me laugh though 🤣

30:43 it does get more difficult later on, they introduce a lot harder enemies, and they carry more powerful weapons, normal is a good level to start on, this is still the 1st level, just to introduce you to the battle.

41:56 the blue plasma grenades are sticky, if you hit an enemy it will stick to him, but be careful, if you are turning and throwing, it may hit a wall and bounce back onto you and stick. 🤕

The Warthog is such an experience to new players. It starts off as "What? I get to drive this? Cool!".
Then later, it becomes ...

""Oh crap! I ran over my friend."
"Oh sh!t. I drove off a cliff." 😂
Hopefully by the end, it's like "Yeah! Let's go!" and driving circles around the enemies, being badass lol

7:35 I did this in the game on the original xbox, I was too little to understand how to change the settings and play the game in general for that matter. So, naturally, I learned to play Halo inverted. In fact, I can still do both! 😂

Play controller if u feel it’ll be easier. I feel obliged to note, the “original” way to play would be with an Xbox controller, but the decision is entirely up to you, of course.

The problem is, the Xbox controller is also quite foreign to me too, mnk is definitely easier for me. I fear how terrible the gameplay will be on controller 😬

A series worth getting through: the Crysis Trilogy 🙂 - which is somewhat a cross between Halo and Gears Of War... with a little bit of 'The Matrix' thrown in around the edges by the time you finish the final game
Definitely got the fps itch back, so I’ll be hunting for more to play
@@PhoenixNat The Remastered Trilogy pack should be on sale in post storefronts going into New Years - which I recommend if you're sticking with PC, since while the first Crysis can still melt modern GPUs almost two decades later, it's only optimized for single-core CPUs... plus, you get nicer textures all around

30:09 you learn to ignore the bots, they are shooting each other, and getting mad at each other for shooting themselves. when played on expert, they don't last long in a battle, just good for dropping weapons with ammo for you. 😂

Tip: you are playing against Covenant - you very quickly noticed in the 1st level that their own plasma weapons are excellent against them. But in the 2nd mission you discovered that the assault rifle is hopeless - it's too inaccurate, with limited stopping power and projectile weapons aren't good at shields. THROW THE ASSAULT RIFLE AWAY. NEVER USE IT.
You carry two weapons & can switch between them: make one a shield-stripper plasma weapon, and the 2nd - the pistol. Yes, the pistol. The best weapon in the game, unless you have a sniper rifle [what? there's a sniper rifle...well, there were several to be found in that 2nd mission...]. Seriously. The pistol is headshot capable at ridiculously long range, and a single headshot kills ANY Covenant that currently has no shield [with one exception...]. The pistol is a God-tier weapon and should always be carried in normal combat - even on Normal...
And here's a question for you. How come the Chief can operate all the alien mechanisms? Hmmm...
imho, mouse and keybd are way easier to run and aim at the same time.
Also modding is easier on pc.

mouse vs controller, id recommend controller but that's really preference, absolutely stick to original graphics for CE though, items might be prettier in the remaster but the whole mood of the game is ruined because the team behind the remaster wanted to show off what they could do instead of maintaining the feel

As a true halo fan myself. I will say Halo is a very solid choice for playthrough. The music, the atmosphere it's so.. different. However the story in every halo game. Is cryptic... So being confused/unclear about story is natural. So dont feel bad about that. Also bear in mind plasma weapons in Halo CE are overpowered. And once you get to halo 2. It gets reallyy good. Good luck and have fun. Cant wait for you to experience halo 2 and 3. And Reach. And Halo 4. They are so peak!!!
If you are playing through the master chief collection on PC then it should let you switch back and forth between the two graphic engines. I would recommend playing on the OG. They kind of butchered a lot of the visual artstyle with this one. Just a suggestion though overall you’ll get the same experience.

This game is kinda hard to play even on Normal difficulty if you're just a beginner, don't change to higher difficulty if you want to survive😂😅 just enjoy the game!

Also I do not recommend Heroic or legendary for first time players. Especially....HALO 2. Oh good golly, that game is insanely hard on legendary. I recommend normal difficulty. Especially on Halo 2. Halo 2 is infamously difficult. The halo community fears few things, but halo 2.... it scares us. And halo doesn't have sprint until Halo reach and halo 4.

Wow this is awesome! But you are definitely as green as the grass! 😂 I definitely recommend giving a controler a try I think you may fair better playing with a it. The only advice i could offer is just keep looking all around you and keep moving. Their are/is going to be certain areas where you have to push through! because lingering back for to long will cause enemys to keep spawning in on you! Luckily for you those areas don't really happen until later on so you're good for now. Try and hang on to that magnum and a plazma pistol! U can overcharge it on Elites to knock down their shields then quickly switch to your magnum for a headshot, very quick kills!
Please play in the old Graphics (by pressing tab) for the best experience, reason being is that the remaster decimated the atmosphere especially in the later levels. By the way wouldn't worry about playing on keyboard it doesn't really matter.

Hi Nat. A blind Halo playthrough this really is Christmas. Thank you . Just a couple of technical points. There is no run button . I’m not sure who would win in a race Master Chief or Nathan Drake. The alien weapons have battery that gets depleted but it should show you how much you’ve got left in the top left corner . I’d avoid the terminals if I were you unless the consensus in the comments is against me . They put one on every level as extras in the Master Chief collection but in a first playthrough they’re really spoilers. I subscribed recently because im a big uncharted fan so thanks for that . If you really wanted to playthrough the Halo franchise, you could've started with Halo: Reach which is set right before Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary (the end cutscenes of H:R is same as the intro cutscenes of H:CEA, sort of like how the end of Rogue One matches or blends with the beginning of A New Hope).
