      I was thinking that too… was that one monotone woman the therapist or did they not have one this episode? Corey is great at trying to help with the emotional aspects for people, but usually there is a clear therapist trying to help address the mental issues behind hoarding. Maybe because this is only highlights they skipped past that part of the process in the interest of time, but if anyone needs the therapy, this lady definitely does.

If her mother is removed from the home she will lose a source of money.

    Susan is definitely a narcissist, and probably has anti-social personality disorder. She has no empathy or love for others. She has a messed up sense of the worth of items. I think they should've gotten an auctioneer or other expert in there, to tell her what that stuff would sell for, yet I think she would've vehemently disagreed with an expert.
    It's really sad how she's pushed her mother right out of her own home. Her mother ought to be kicking her out, instead of having to move in with her grandkids.

    I know it’s a mental disorder, but how much of this behaviour is also a moral disorder? So many of the people on this show are incredibly stubborn. And uncaring and selfish. I don’t think that’s a mental disorder. The British show, “How clean is your house?” had one lady who was also a bona fide hoarder, and it was a mental disorder. But she was so sweet and lovely and able to let go and cooperate even though she had to cry her way through it. I think the actual hoarding and delusion of overvaluing worthless things is the mental disorder, but the personality that so often accompanies the disorder really isn’t part of it, as far as I can tell. That’s personal choice. But they’re always being enabled for being so mean and miserable by the therapist saying, “It’s just part of the disorder.”

    • @Fluffy-Fluffy
      @Fluffy-Fluffy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think the attitude is to hide their anxiett and Gear. Being obnoxious, defiant and angry is much easier to deal with. I think it is part of the disorder. Being indifferent to your son being hurt is something else but may also be another wat to not show her possibly (big) sense of guilt for what happened due to her issues.

    • @20bluelilies
      @20bluelilies 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. In so many of these people there are definite hints of other personality issues. I don't think hoarding is ever unaccompanied by some other influencing factor in a person's make up. It's almost as if it's one of the possible manifestations of a much deeper issue.

    Susan needs us to know she likes the kind of things men like. Yes, indeed she will be the most 'man-liking' person on the block and the center of many men's attention as she created a 'man's playground' with things men love playing with, talking about, helping her with, asking her about and engaging with Susan. .... Susan also LOVES something that women like: Being the most popular woman of all women, men and anyone else, the star of the ball, the one woman who eclipses all the others, the grande madame of all attention and having every social interaction, everything in her society, everyone talking about Susan! She successfully did it too. Her daughters are very pretty young ladies who seem smart, strong, good personalities and they are what.. the 'side players' to the Susan Show. Grandma might be the sweetest little old lady on the planet and she was what.. a background character, literally hidden by Susan Garbage in a corner and a little subplot to the Great Susan Centerpiece Show. Susan is a helluva thing though - she is everything attention-seeking in the masculine and feminine of things.

    Another episode of Hoarders where the hoarder cares more for the junk than her family. They did a great job cleaning and organizing the house but I'm convinced that this woman Susan will get back in her car and start rebuilding her hoard. It will take the city to clean up the property and for her to lose her house to get her to stop hoarding.
