Actually, that’s a selling point on probably 80% of the E bikes being sold right now. The fact that you’re trying to write it off as if it’s insignificant paying $250 in shipping plus paying taxes? That is a big bite.. and guess what for the amount of difference that it would cost me to get the wired delivered to my door I could get the E-cells And a bigger controller.

I went with the Dual Star package on the 5 Star. RST guide fork is good but that dual crown fork is amazing stability, ride quality, and durability combined with a streamlined dual battery package that Ecells has perfected over years of experience for $500. Are you kidding me? Then I call Ecells myself and the owner answers my questions personally and responds to my questions and concerns in the group. Ecells is a family and I am grateful to be a part of it! Thanks for the great info! Look forward to your comparison of both great bikes!

The dual crown fork offered by e cells is not a thru axle and is just for looks. The RST with a thru axle is a much more robust and is a safer fork than the e cell branded one.

@@jfly2249The 1st few Ecell bikes that were sent out had the quick release front axle. They changed all bikes moving forward to the through axle for safety reasons. The dual crown fork has more travel, is more stable, and offers a whole other level of ride quality. Especially off road. In 5 years they have had no issues other than a few warranty issues on wrecked bikes or from being synched all the way down in trucks with tie straps. The dual crown is an awesome fork!

The 2024+ Wired Freedom to my front door was $2444.70 with the new through axel RST Guide forks. The Five Star with the bigger better brakes too, in rack battery, More suspension travel dual crown forks, Stronger double walled gold anodized rims, AND the optional torque sensor, in gorgeous Monarch Blue, $ 2543.00 ! FYI also, I could NOT find a dual crown fork to fit the new 135mm through axel front hub! Which would have been an extra $300 if I could find one to fit. Both dan at Wired and Brian at Citizen Cycle told me adding a torque sensor will require a different controller and will be very costly and difficult to get through. @@e-cells2222 I would not wager a bet on that race. It will be close. My Goat arrived two days ago, and I am still getting the feel for it.
I think that the reasonable approach would be with all three equipped with dual battery, as with that second battery the controller can deliver more amps with less voltage sag.
I am beginning to wonder if Goat Power Bikes did a 1960's style motor specification fudge (various car companies lowered their advertised ratings on cars like the Mustang, to allow them to race in a lower class). I know for a fact the 2600 Watt max wattage on the Goat is a "reduced rating", and I suspect the Torque figure is fudged as well.

Solor Surron Great video, I just want to say that we appreciate your logical unbiased commentary on this subject.
There seems to be so much crap flying around on both sides . Which makes it very confusing for people to figure out what is the truth of the matter?
Since I own a 2024 freedom, I can tell you exactly what people are referring to about the rear suspension Arm.
If you notice in CC’s video you can clearly see the added shims in the suspension arm on the new White freedom.
I really didn’t notice much of a problem on my bike until I added a second battery on the rack, then it became extremely obvious. That’s when I made and installed Specer shims to make the suspension arm more rigid, and it helped immensely.
You can also notice that the
E-cells bike comes with the same shims already installed.
The five star frame design has been out for five years and they have had plenty of time to figure out the bugs and addressed them accordingly.
This would also explain why their bike already comes with a potted controller to address heat issues.
Can’t wait to see future clarification videos from your channel. Thanks.

I own the 5STAR bike, and while it offers good performance, it has several issues. There is a persistent rattling noise, possibly coming from the kickstand. Additionally, the shipping process seems unreliable, and the motor is noisy. I received several damaged items, and the drivetrain and chain frequently malfunction. The bike is also quite heavy, and the seat stem has an unusual width. However, it does have a better frame and rear suspension than the wired model, and there are various customization options available. Unfortunately, the torque sensor does not function as expected. The most significant problem is the company itself. The owner's behavior is concerning - he has a history of legal issues a convict and questionable conduct, and there are serious allegations against him. Dealing with the company can be challenging. Considering all of this, I am hesitant to purchase another bike from this company, and I would advise potential buyers to be cautious.

I put my order in the cart and believe, if I remember correctly, that I put in all my information and credit card number. It was then and only then that I saw the $275 (?) shipping charge. It is their prerogative to do business as they wish, but I thought that was not at all cool and I canceled my order. I have a Five Star on the way for $300 less and I don't plan on riding 40 MPH so I don't think I will miss the extra 5 amps the Freedom has if that indeed is the case. As far as I know, that is from the metal gears over the nylon, as solid nylon are quieter, but don't last as long. I think they figured the extra noise was worth it. Very similar to my rc cars with nylon vs metal spur gears.

The only aspect you may need to address is that E-Cells reached out to the motor manufacturer & their warranty applies up to a 40 amp controller. Going to a 45 amp controller would void their warranty. I definitely suggest you test the E-cells bike in order to make a proper comparison.

I've seen this argument posted a few times, and my thoughts on this are: if it's true that the motor manufacturer's warranty only covers up to a 40-amp controller and going up to 45 amps would void that warranty, Wired will still replace the motor at no cost to the customer under the terms of their own warranty. The manufacturer's warranty comes from the manufacturer, and that's for Wired to worry about. As a customer, my only concern is the warranty Wired provides to me. I own both a Wired Freedom and a Wired Cruiser, and my experience with them has been fantastic. They've always stood by their products, and I have no reason to doubt they'll replace any components covered under their warranty.

Looks like I may have found an answer to my question. There is a portion of the frame that's only about 1/8" or less from the chain teeth on the chainring. Adding a chainring guard would extend it out 1/8" or possibly a little more, resulting in a interference fit. Unfortunately it seems the frame design on this bike does not lend to the use of a chainring guard. Is a bit of a annoyance when getting on of off the bike, if I bump something wrong or back pedal the chain can occasionally come off.

But when another reviewer (tail happy) got his bike, it came with a second Longer rear shock to address your problem and prevent the rub with the controller box. They have since gotten away from that TALL plastic box which housed the controller, and now have a lower profile controller for their bike. So, the problem you describe does not exist with the current versions. It would seem they responded to the earlier user complaints and made design changes to address it.

First off thanks for your honest perspectives on these bikes. While both companies make what looks like very similar bikes, I ordered the Wired Cruiser because I wanted a step thru this time and the Wired seemed like the best deal. I also prefer the look of the Wired. My only reservation was not the shipping cost to receive the bike but the idea that if there are any warranty issues, I will have to pay for the shipping on those as well. I understand they are not a large company that can eat the cost of shipping like a big box or large on line retailer, it is just something I hope I will not have to do. I must admit though, that I made my decision on my purchase before seeing the post by the Ecells owner here or anything about his past but what did put me off is their need on their web site to inform me of their religious views. Now, if I get a goat head thorn in my tire, I pluck it out, and immediately ride the bike to allow the sealant to do its job. I maybe lose 1 pound of pressure before it seals. Just a heads up. I ordered a wired freedom about 5 weeks ago. Then I saw a youtube interview of a guy that had both. And it pointed out wired stability issues left to right and rattling. And his difficulties getting it resolved. So I cancelled my order. The company politely said they would cancel and credit me. Then I got to thinking that maybe I should just stick with the Wired bike and give it a try. It seemed like a great value with the extra battery. So I emailed to see if I could reinstate my order or need to order again online.
I get an email from the CEO stating that He has a policy that anybody that cancels an order is flagged and banned from ordering again! Holy cow! Can you imagine a company that bans all customers if you change your mind for a product that never even shipped in the first place! BTW, I went to find this youtube video that was very hard on the Wired Ebike and surprise, surprise. It disappeared! Maybe they got some type of financial resolution to take down the negative article. Something is not right about this Wired company and their business model or expertise. Glad I avoided any future problems.

i like the look of the wired bike but there is a lot i like about the e-cells with the dual crown option. the good thing is this benefits the customer whichever one they get.
the sad part is when things get ugly and politics get in the way based on brand - like ford versus chevy, microsoft versus apple, or a sports team versus another, etc. i think there may be more toxicity within the wired camp bashing people deciding on e-cells. just trying to get an objective perspective on things as a potential customer should not mark one as a “fanboy” of either brand. if you can afford it get both. but if you had to pick one, it should be based on informed decisions as a personal choice. not because there is only one way in life to do things right in life like a cult or a religion. but the customer should be happy with what they got and have excellent support o whichever one they end up choosing.
