Hey thanks for watching! Ive been updating the link for the discs as they are fluctuating into and out of stock. I’ll try to keep ontop of it! I just updated it so check it out!
@Len M. no but I have used the Sharkskin disc's and the rapid Shark skin were around 18 $ and I found the rapid grind for 1/3 the cost and they were the same trust me I can get you the Info if u would like to try them out ?
Wish I had watched this video ages ago. Bought a box of them and my goodness the difference is night and day. Way less vibration and noise and unbelievably faster material removal rate. Feels like using a flap disc instead of a traditional stone grinding disc. Lifetime is still not clear to me yet but first impression are seriously impressive! Thanks a bunch for sharing this, I will never use anything else ever again.
I couldn't believe the difference when I tried these for the first time... They've got a new version of these coming later this year too that is even faster... I got to test them recently, so good!
Man I’m so glad I saw this, and thanks for taking the time to showcase such a great product. As a blacksmith I go through discs like crazy and have searched far and low for a great disc like these and finally settled on ceramic flap discs but that’s gonna change now from watching this. I know Pferds quality having some of their Carbide burrs, and files, and they make the best modern made metal working tools I’ve found so far, shows how many tools they offer with these sitting under my nose the whole time.
Dude…. Those Victrograin are amazing. Saved my patience, hands, and time. They are money. I had one in my kit before watching this just to sample it out from my local weld supply. Tried it out and now I use it predominantly. Yes they’re pricey, but the time savings makes it way worth it. Also, I feel I can control it better. Thanks!
Never really considered that. Aluminum silicate and silicon carbide are two of the more common abrasives I’ve worked with. It’s probably a good idea to wear ppe when using any grinding disc in general.
I bought some and used it. The good thing about them is the size of dust is big and does not float in the air. Regular grinding discs cover every corner with black dust.
I am building a shipping container house and need to grind down some metal extruding parts, but find the grinding discs not efficient, so a search led me to this video -- so happy about its effieicncy and bought ten discs on Amazon right away. Will come back to comment about their performance soon. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for that, most frustrating part of fabricating is too use a grinding disc that feels like it's just sliding over the steel after the first minute, you forgot to mention how much less heat is being generated
I mentioned the same thing in my comment. You can actually see the paint mark burning off which means that steel is smoking hot. One major downside of those crappy bonded hard stones is they cut like crap once the metal reaches a certain temp. That's a huge deal if you need to remove a lot of material.
Appreciate the time you spent making this video. I’ve seen you use this brand and other channels as well. I was not aware of these disc crushing the ones I use from the box stores that only care about large contracts and lowest prices to fill their shelves. I have permanent nerve damage so it’s really tough grinding with stone wheels. Thanks again !!
Yah I got their stuff I like it. I got them to use instead of flap discs for Descaling. Flap discs suck so bad. There is no flap disc that can compare. They are worth the price.
Hi Chris! I saw your videos about grinding disc, victo grain disc, flap disc and curved flap disc. Can i ask you which faster between regular grinding disc, victo grain disc, flap disc, and curved flap disc to remove weld seam? Thank you for your answer and have a great day!

It is night and day difference how much better Pferd disc’s are. The only problem is that nobody readily carries them here in the states, so you just have to plan ahead and order accordingly. The performance and durability of Pferd grinding and cutting disc’s are absolutely amazing. It’s not even close.
I bought a couple and I will give them a try. I’ve been grinding on steel for over 40 years, now retired but still work at home on my personal projects. I will definitely put them to the test and see what happens 👍

I like the idea of the non-vibration feature. I don't grind as much as I did 25 to 35 years ago but I know what you mean. I can only go so long and the vibration wears me out. I am going to try some of these. I have Pferd 9" regular disks. I like their brand but usually buy the cheap 4-1/2" or 5" disks. I need to look in to this. Thanks for the review.

Thank you for this video!! They are flat out amazing! After watching this I ordered a 10 pack off of Amazon. 5" Pferd victograin. You have saved me time, money, and M18 batteries! I had the same revelation when I tried Cubitron discs for the first time. You quickly realize what utter garbage the HF discs are, and how 'stone age' typical discs are. I'll definitely be trying out some of these. Would be cool to see a comparison of these to other structured discs. They still do seem like an awesome value. "There are rules in the osha handbook for how long you can use a tool like this" - I can just see the reaction from a welder when he helper says this.... hhahahahah
If you're continually grinding, for instance in a foundry, then fair enough but most guys use a grinder for a minute or two at a time. Most decent manufacturers have an equivalent ceramic abrasive wheel - Tyrolit Cerabond, 3M Cubitron, Norton SG so Pferd are not unique.
I like the PFERD 61215 they last even longer than the grey. I was able to pick up my last 10 pack on sale for $65, they are usually $95. Now they just need them in x-lock.
And I just checked both links he always puts up the 10 packs because they are giving him a kick back for making sales on Amazon, because they track those links and who sends what and opens what... I'll find one or 2 and test them out myself... If you really want to show their strength do it for stainless steel or some other forged hard metal composition... Wether it's hot rolled or cold rolled, medium and low carbon steel isn't a true test anymore...

the only Con is that their life is about half of your traditional grinding disc like pearl or something like that.
so they are more expensive and last half as long which puts them right at about 4 times more expensive, but as far as cleaning up metal, these are unmatched!
The Pherd disks are awesome. I would recommend giving the 3m Cubitron 36g sanding disks a try. Thats about all I use anymore. you need a cheap backing pad for them, The walter cool backers are nice.
"There are rules in the osha handbook for how long you can use a tool like this" - I can just see the reaction from a welder when he helper says this.... hhahahahah
Very funky, a new cold grinding. In the real world your steel will get real hot.
Thanks for the tip mate I’ll get some and try 🤙
If you're continually grinding, for instance in a foundry, then fair enough but most guys use a grinder for a minute or two at a time. Most decent manufacturers have an equivalent ceramic abrasive wheel - Tyrolit Cerabond, 3M Cubitron, Norton SG so Pferd are not unique.
Do you know the difference between force and pressure? You ought to be able to handle a softball like that.
I like the PFERD 61215 they last even longer than the grey. I was able to pick up my last 10 pack on sale for $65, they are usually $95. Now they just need them in x-lock.
Can you cut with the Victorian?
And I just checked both links he always puts up the 10 packs because they are giving him a kick back for making sales on Amazon, because they track those links and who sends what and opens what... I'll find one or 2 and test them out myself... If you really want to show their strength do it for stainless steel or some other forged hard metal composition... Wether it's hot rolled or cold rolled, medium and low carbon steel isn't a true test anymore...
I would be afraid to take off too much material when I just need to Lightly grind.
If you need to grind lightly use a file
I'd like to try one of these I get it you really like them but this kinda comes off like one of those infomercials where they try to make boiling water like trying to do heart surgery
