This video is great but the moving graphics in corners are soooo distracting. I just wish they only cycled once and then froze. Maybe it's because I have adhd lol. Great video anyway, just a small thing
I wasn't aware of parkour until I stumbled upon one of Storror's videos in Sept 2020, and the video opened up a whole new world to me. If they can make people laugh, especially during those difficult times, they are doing one hell of a job. I don't mind pay per view. I support independent creators to make awesome videos.
Love to hear that man, especially from someone outside of the parkour community! This is the mentality we need to support the creation of more groundbreaking content.
The most annoying thing about my small part in this (as mentioned by giles) is that my comment is something i completely and truly stand by, and I think many people misinterpreted. I said enter the breach was THE MOST IMPORTANT film since RCA, and i think i was absolutely right about that. I didn't say it was the best, or the most cinematic, coolest parkour, most inspiring etc... I said it was the most important film in the community since what was done with RCA. Naturally, I am close with Chris and I wanted to give him a good quote to help him sell his film, that much is obvious. Despite that, I do genuinely feel like eclectic blend of parkour, custom animation, skits and character set ETB and future parkour feature films on a new path, and that the community absolutely WILL end up looking back at it as a turning point down the line.
I totally agree with you on that man. I understand how that quote could be easily misconstrued but what you said was actually spot on. Each paid film this community puts out is a massive step for all of us and this was absaloutely the most important step since RCA!
I started Free Running the first day Jump London came out in 03. Although I don't train much anymore anymore I've kept my toe in the pond with regards to Storror, Motus, Breach etc content - so I feel like I've been around to not only see the evolution of the craft itself, but also as a way for athletes to make some coin from their hard work. I think it's amazing! What's sad that these creations aren't celebrated by their own people. Instead, hiding behind a computer, saying comments that don't edify the community isn't just unhelpful, it's divisive. Stepping out and creating content such as these videos isn't just brave, it's also pioneering. If you're not going to stand with him get out their way.
100% man, every feature length paid parkour film is a MASSIVE step for the whole sport. Even though most of the feedback is positive, negative and hateful comments from powerful people in the community can have such a destructive effect and really have no place in our community.
If any of these teams come out with any other feature lengths then ill happily pay full price and also leave a tip. Theyre amazing athletes and the way they overcome certain things mentally and physically has inspired me to try more in overcoming my demons. BIG respects to everyone involved and PLEASE just keep going. We need your art.
try this: on pc, at the exact beginning of the video, play the video and start pressing many times on your keyboard the left arrow very fast. Congratulations, you got free Toby Segar's rap beatboxing
@@lennartjakob thanks so much man! This is the third actually part of a 4 part series and the first two episodes are also up on my channel if you're interested 😁
Great video, and very well put together. So nice to see the big names in parkour reacting as one in support of this community. One small criticism though, I wish you hadn't called it The Saddest Day in Parkour History. When I saw that in my feed I thought Holy Shit, who's died? But what is it about commenting on TH-cam and other platforms that triggers people's inner asshole? I'm ashamed to say I have written some fairly negative bollocks myself on occasion, but only about politics or religion, never anything serious like parkour or music. (I had to stop and think for a moment there, do I really want to write: trigger people's inner asshole? And then I decided yes I do, definitely!)
Thanks mate! Yeah I was worried about that a bit too... But I gotta say I have zero regrets with that name, the data speaks for itself. Go have a look at the views two previous videos I've released. They hold the same structure, feature the same guys and have a very similar value to the content but they performed appallingly because the titles and thumbnails were simply not interesting enough. I would much rather give people a bit of a shock than have them not click altogether.
@@MaximusWard I take your point. I've just watched Advice from Parkour’s Top Filmmakers and it's excellent, so engaging and it really breaks down why Storror videos in particular exert such a hold on me - and yet it's only had 673 views. Don't worry, that will change! BTW I've subscribed now, and I'll be working my way through the rest of your catalogue over the next few days. Keep it up!
@@davebrokenshire1086 I appreciate that mate! I've got a few documentaries on prominent parkour athletes in the works so hopefully I'll be bringing a lot of value for your sub!
Some will watch regardless of the title, BUT if you want to please the algorithm gods, so they put your video, you worked hard on, on recommended, you have to put some spice in your title! Or you already have an loyal audience like Storror and regularly put out new videos
Very interesting to hear from the creators about their films. I get why breach got some criticism, although I did like the film overall I’ll admit it wasn’t my favourite PK film. The film was good overall but to me, last 15 minutes felt uneventful and because of that the film ended in a boring way that doesn’t reflect it as a whole. It definitely didn’t deserve the hate it got
Antother great video! I have followed the parkour community for years without practicing the sport and I just love the vibe of it! For me it's an absoulte no brainer to go watch these full length videos!
What an important video! As I mentioned in the Breach trailer comments, as a pro filmmaker I have some criticisms about the movie but still I encourage everyone to support these initiatives because this is only the beginning and as an athlete who's been around for 17 years I am very happy to purchase good content and it's a great way to support the athletes.
Thanks man! That's exactly it though, it's really about rewarding the huge effort being made to provide value to the community. There are so few people doing huge independent projects like this and we need to get behind each and every one!
i belive the thing with small communities is that people always have strong emotions about them, its not about love or hate but more about how they see it vs someone else. when those dont match and you've only seen those two points of view a normal human reaction is to stay by yours and dont like the other, that is exactly why we need more voices and more videos like these when we just talk about US
100% man, more discussions will help us learn and grow as a community over all. Also if you like videos like this, my two most recent uploads are also from this same series and I have another one coming next week 🙏
I am one of those people who focused on becoming pro athlete too much, now I find myself in the position where I'm questioning my love for freerunning, it's so ironic that you want to achieve this goal so much in order to continue your passion for as long as possible but it ends up the thing that actually kills it. Every time I would go out to train my goal was to get Instagram clips and there has been so many days where I come back home disappointed knowing my clips were not good enough, all these negative moments of disappointment slowly starts killing your passion and you find yourself questioning why you really doing this for, if it is because you love moving or it has became just the toxic habit of getting clips for the gram in attempt to win the social media attention Olympics... I think many people are following the same path, they get lost in the process and forget why they actually doing freerunning. Do it for yourself people don't do it for others ✌️
Yeah that's great advice man! I think it's also important to remember that there's no one clear path to being a 'pro parkour athlete' and even having huge numbers on Instagram can ammount to very little without be becoming hugely invested in entrepreneurship and selling yourself to brands (which can also kill your passion). Dom very rarely gets any good paid work from Instagram for this reason 😂. But yeah at the end of the day, if trying to make money from your passion is poisoning it to the point where you're no longer enjoying it than it's no longer a good goal to have. I found it interesting that Philly D said he enjoyed parkour more when he stopped trying to make it a career. 🤔🙏
Love what u did here - knowledge about creation & tips 4 future pkr projects-- Second important issue, that hatered or just stupid comments, make us as. Community look bad-really doesn’t serves nothing We should absolutely encourage the community to create & express some of its unique artistic ppl ,colors to the community itself & the others worldwide
I wish there was a way to watch this still. I tried to find it today and can't seem to anywhere. We definitely need more long form Parkour films, but I also grew up watching skate videos and stuff to so that sort of stuff is right up my alley.
Oh damn really? I didn't know it wasn't available anymore. If you're interested in long form Parkour films, mine is still available online! I made it after creating this video
Classy that you didn't name/expose the group who "criticized" Enter the Breach..... but I still wanna know who it was. If somebody knows... post their name.
Great video man! I personally loved the Breach film. How could you not with all the amazing athletes and the lines they've thrown down! The fact that I enjoy raw clips over edited ones doesn't change how sick the film was and I have deep respect for the work put into the edit haha :D
I saw some negative feedback from those mentioned in the video and then saw the price and tbh was kinda turned off. I saw enough positive feedback that I would have probably still rented but just not for 13$ or whatever it was. However, I support the idea of payed content. If nothing else this was a good reminder that I've been meaning to finally buy/rent RCA and maybe Soul Destroyer and Breach as well. Great vid. I've been looking for video essays that go more into the parkour community discussions and this is great. Keep it up!
Thanks so much man! Yeah there were some weird things happening with the Enter The Breach price overseas, it should be like $5 to rent and $11 to buy. Glad to hear that you're liking the content! This is actually the third installment in a 4 part series (my two most recent videos are part 1 and 2). The final installment is out tomorrow! 💜🙏
I know it make production more expensive, but I do wish companies and teams still brought out hard copies of these films. For me personally, I much prefer a hard copy that I can display on a shelf and re watch whenever I feel rather than spending money on a digital copy. I think there's something about having something physical which makes me much more open to spending money on this kind of thing.
Yeah a few people have said they would like that, I think some teams have tried to organize some limited runs of hard copies but I'm not sure how far they've gotten. Still it would definitely be something nice to have.
Well done! Great thing you're creating this platform to discuss things and creating even a better oportunity to learn from it. I also applaud for including many criticism points. Especially by Giles. They resonate quite a bit with me. Criticism is OK and even important! :) The only thing that was little bit of a turn off for me can be summerized by quoting Chriss from your pevious video: "If you have anything negative to say about this, what are you doing with your life" (probably not the exact quote, but close) You know what I mean? An attitude which doesn't sit quite well with me. Love the athletes and hope they and the future generations will be able to do more of this!
Thanks a lot mate! Yeah criticism is definitely really important as long as it's delivered right. That's definitely not the quote though. He said "what are you doing" in reference to the people who hated on the film with the knowledge that films like this are building a career for the next generation of parkour athletes. The people hating are from that next generation so they are essentially shooting themselves in the foot by hurting the film. That's what he meant
Thanks so much mate! 💜 It's actually also part of a series about PK films and making a living in parkour. The two most recent videos on my channel and next weeks video will make up the full set.
I really never paid for these kind of content, i prefer watch you guys doing your videos on youtube, or practice my self parkour. I also think that there is not a real reason for people to get mad about paid content, is just a way to receive a retribution for all this dedication and commitment to your passion, i guess you had all the rights to do that and is very probably you find people out there ready to paid for this kind of content. Yeah imagine all that time you invest on your trainings, and is not only time, you paid real money for you equipement, all the cameras, clothes, food, acommodation when you travel, gasoline, transportation, paid for an life insurance, even if you get injured you need to pay for treatment and all these kind of things are not cheap. Also being involved in a huge project is so cool, being shoot with the cameras doing your thing in diferent location, i don´t know is a mind blower, i think that you give a plus when you shoot that kind of scenes because you want to be special, you want to look cool doing crazy stuff. Well there are out there many parkour athletes who are being paid for doing this sport, and perhaps this could be a breach between this two worlds and instead of separate the community bring the people together.
It's great to see you aknowledge that even if you haven't purchased films like this yourself. And I can assure you that these films are absaloutely worth it and are certainly a level above any TH-cam content you'll find! It's interesting that you say that there are many parkour athletes out there getting paid because it's actually not as many as you think. Next week's video will be on exactly that topic and we'll talk about how people make a living in parkour.
I payed and watched all of them and will continue to support pk movies, I also enjoyed old pk documentaries like Generation Yamakasi and others. Imo Breach was ok but I found it a bit hard to watch because of too many flashes, camera spins and all editing tricks in it (mainly first 25/30 min) what makes it a bit difficult to focus on movement.
Is the Breach video only on Vimeo? I'll get around to watching it. Being in awkward lockdowns for 2 years has made me a fan of watching parkour. Anyway, thanks for the documentary. I didn't even know there were feature length parkour films.
Great insight into the parkour politics!!! Amazing to think in a community of people that express love so freely, can clash when money becomes involved,, even at 3 quid!!! Mad!!! Great video, 👍
Great way to put it man, glad you enjoyed it! It's actually the third part of a series, the last one about making money in parkour comes out tomorrow! 💜🙏
Great video! I missed the controversy altogether but now want to watch all four movies (… by which i mean rewatch RCA for the fifth time, but first time for the other three)
Thank you and Yeah definitely do that! Storror are great but there are also other amazing parkour content creators out there, they just don't have the enormous following behind them 😅🙏
I think it's good to have a non-heated debate and this video and comment section is proving that. My take on the whole Enter the Breach debacle is that i really didn't enjoy the film as a "Parkour-film", like RCA, Sole Destroyer, or even Spitting in the wind as a series. Personally it's not the type of film I'm into, even outside of Parkour, but I still think the cinematography, edit, story and everything else that makes a film are on point. I think Enter the Breach is an objectively good movie, just not for the PK-Community as the target audience. And I hope this really comes across in the way i mean it: Big respect to anyone involved. It reminded me of more of a Roadtrip/Project X/showing off a friendship or community kinda movie. And i agree with AMPISOUND / Scott it is the most important PK-movie in a long time, because it can appeal to a wider audience. E: as an add-on to the critique: most of the criticism i heard in the community I've been able to meet since the release of EtB has been about "too much filler" or "over-editing" which I think can add to what Giles had to say. Imho they chose the wrong type of transitional / filler content (yet i do understand how hard it is to get enough footage in 9 days) and (this is entirely subjective) it just lay a bit heavy on effects. it made it hard to watch as someone who wants to see the movement. Again, I think this doesn't take away from the expirience if that'*s not what you're watching it for.
Thanks for sharing that man. It's funny I think that this is the kind of film that appeals more to parkour audiences because of its lack of story relative to something like RCA... But there is certainly more visual candy as well to help someone enjoy it for more than just the movement. I guess that's what happens when you get a prominent music video editor to edit all the movement sections (and I am a big fan of Hectors music video work)! I'm so stoked that people are actually bringing really interesting points from all sides though here and am glad I could facilitate the discussion!
It's an absolute classic! Not sure if there will ever be another like it 🤔... Most of this interview was actually about RCA and I have 4 other videos online with Storror where they talk about it if you're interested?
I found storror during the first lockdown 2020 they are brilliant funny creative I now watch every Monday probably 2or3 times I would pay to view if I could I am on disability benefit and couldn't get to a cinema any way .storror make my Mondays and I find myself watching again and again thanks
That's awesome to hear man, they are absolutely killing the game! Lots of great parkour content creators out there but the Storror boys are definitely leading the pack 😤🔥
Anyone who is complaining about paying for an independent, feature-length film made with no corporate backing... You clearly know nothing about the world or how it works. You need to crack open an economics book or get a job. If it was up to you, no good content would be created. Because you think peoples' time and expertise and work and ingenuity grows on trees. It doesn't. It comes at a cost and needs to be funded if you want good things to happen.
District 13 set a huge bar for Parkour in movies. The way you film parkour has become a art form. So even though there are the contests witch are amazing. They can’t film them the way you do.
Yeah District 13 was sick but it was very much a Hollywood inspired filmmaking style and not something we try to replicate with Parkour films. I appreciate that bro!
Same thing happened in blading (aggressive inline) when VOD’s started popping, hilarious people would begrudge supporting the teams and culture they admire. No one bats an eyelid when one’s released in our sport now 🤷🏻♂️
That's so interesting man and I think parkour needs to realize we are not unique and many other action sports have gone through this same process...we are just early. Very cool to hear that they are prevalent in blading though!
@@MaximusWard think it was around 2015 when there was a lot of people releasing them. Has currently moved more towards a mix of TH-cam free content and crew/brand/individual skaters VODs. As mentioned above, if people don’t want to watch them now, they just don’t buy them (rather than moaning about it!) Enjoyed your video btw, thanks for responding 🙏
Great video Max! Can't understand why would you publicly bash something like that, don't like it? Don't buy it then. Why discourage people from watching it? espeacially if you have a voice in the community. Just discovered your channel, really good content bro! Keep it up
the only way forward for the parkour and free running community is through movies supported by the community itself. There is no other way for the sport. That's how football started as well - the stars are supported by the fans.
Mate I have the same problem! Basically I think the song was never released and they got it for the film because Hector the editor is a big man music video director and got it off an artist. But I think the full song has never seen the light of day 😫
Great video, well structured. I found the moving graphics during interviews made the video almost unwatchable, though. Had to make a little window with my hands to just watch the talking heads lol. In the future I would just have a little not-moving team logo in the corner of the screen or something. Other than that, very well done.
As someone from the US, and newer to PK, i'm not surprised to hear about some dudes here throwing shade needlessly. Makes me embarrased... I don't know who they are but I want to, so that I know who I don't want to support, to be frank about it.
Yeah I think it's really strange and toxic that some dudes have this attitude that it's the US vs UK or the rest of the world as opposed to just all supporting eachother and being one big community... I hope that will change. I'm not trying to call them out here but the whole interview will be uncensored on the Storror podcast at some point.
these movies are awesome, I wish I didn't live in Brazil so I could buy it... however dollars are already expensive for us here, and pounds are even more... but someday I will buy them!!
Haven’t seen many of your videos Max, but I really like your style and the general flow of this video! Especially the little annotations with the speakers’ names and what they were speaking about, that really helped. Got yourself a sub 😬 PS I don’t mind the spinny animations; gave me something to look at while y’all spoke 😂
Somebody gets it!!! Haha yeah that was exactly the idea with the graphics but it's interesting how many people couldn't bare to watch them 🥲 But yeah thanks so much for that man! There are actually 2 videos from this same series already online and a new one coming next week so I hope you enjoy them too 🙏
Thanks so much mate! My two most recent videos are from this same series of you're interested (TH-cam algorithm kind of hid them). And the final installment is next week! 🙏
I was there, ten years ago, before, during and after the release of RCA. The absolute hypocrisy of the people lamenting the film being pay per view when they had extra, behind the scenes, FREE CONTENT ON THE MAIN CHANNEL is absolutely baffling. I literally remember during one of the videos in China when they had shot one of the most iconic shots from the film and they were doing trial jumps for the youtube video. And they had filmed that. For free. On their fucking channel. I'm literally gonna explode. I was fucking fifteen or sixteen and I FUCKING UNDERSTOOD that the money I would've spent would've gone directly to them, supporting them. I still haven't watched it yet, sadly, ten years later. I didn't have the money, I basically gave up watching it ever, and my views have also changed on media; let me explain: I don't want to spend 3 euros for a 24 hour stream window, but also I don't want to spend 14 euros for a file I'm not sure I will have (aka I want to own the fucking file I'm buying, especially for such a pricetag, I would love to have it physically on my hard disk so that there's less risk it becoming lost media). At this point I'm just gonna buy a couple of their merch and download the film in very *legal* ways (but also an order from their store could be up to hundreds of euros, and I'd rather support them that way).
PS: I'm gonna get the water is god shirt cuz that's a thing that stuck with me since I've fucking heard it. Water is indeed god. The parkour water gods watch us all.
Has Roof Culture Asia been taken down from TH-cam because every time I try and watch it an error message appears. Really annoying because it’s an incredible film
I gladly pay the creators of good content and I'm not stupid enough to think that giving and receiving is bad. Ask Joey off've Friends... 😂 It really is mental though, obviously people should want to pay strangers in return of making them feel happy and entertained. Everybody understands this, but some odd people have a very nasty view of reality - that somehow reality *owes* them something in return for zero input. The very LEAST thing you can do is pay some money for it. It's the laziest form of return. That doesn't make it bad either from either side of the transaction, in fact it's the only criticism of it - that it's the least you can do. As far as criticisms go, it's hardly a deep one. People have their morals all askew. Even a positive comment on a video is less lazy, and that's obviously lazy, and obviously a positive thing, but paying to see something is, if anything, a much stronger compliment! Who gets upset about this? I don't get upset about a mechanic fixing my car just because I have to pay him - I gladly pay him for doing the work! If I can get him to do it outside of work on a barrow job and pay cash in hand to avoid the tax, even better right? I mean, right?! AVOIDING tax is supporting the content creator. Not paying more to the middle man or expecting freebies... These people think they're rebels by saying that money is bad, when in reality a true rebel pays the bill as directly to the person offering the service as they possibly can! Cash in hand preferably. If I could pay Storror directly in 20 dollar bills, I would! A nice Christmas bonus of cash once a year would be pleasant. See how this works? The commie stuff about no money and "money = bad" is just silly.
2 things: 1st : You all risk your health and life in every video you make from short clips on TH-cam to full length, you deserve to make a living on something your good at and at the same time your also inspiring people to get of their ass's and get out there and be healthy. 2nd: ...this one will probably explain it... "Millenial's" not all .. but most... definitely most!!
Yeah man, we just want any and all avenues to parkour careers to expand and be accessible to as many people as possible who are willing to put in the work. Not sure what you mean by Millennials though 😅
@@MaximusWard Millenials be complaining about paying to warch Parkour full lengths... not all but most 😮💨.. lol look honestly, I was out of the loop about the whole agenda of people not happy about having to pay Parkour Trained athletes for their video projects? It's very bizarre to me, Storror, Dom, Ed, Verky, Jannis, Phil.. (I can't think of anymore names sorry) are always loading up free videos for us to watch and people arnt happy about giving back?
@@haroo86 yeah man it's totally strange, people just expect so much these days for nothing in return but when you think about it it's ridiculous to not pay a small fee to support huge groundbreaking efforts like this. It is definitely a generational shift.
Seeing Sacha and Callums faces next to one another, I only just realized that they look similar and are brothers, duh! I've only been watching them for about a year, duh-doy.
@@MaximusWard btw I went and bought Enter The Breach straight away after seeing this video (well, during the video) so good job bringing this to light.
It's liiiiiit isn't it! But it's unreleased I think 😭... I think Hector Pitt sourced it from his contacts in the UK music scene. I damn want to add it to my playlist as well!
I'm extremely happy to report that it did at least result in a small boost in sales!... And hopefully made a contribution to the willingness of people to support groundbreaking work like this!
@@MaximusWard It's definitely on my list of things to get when I next have a few quid spare. I'll probably grab Supertramps too as I still haven't seen that one. I grew up on skate vids, and as much as free content is great, a feature length production is always worth a few quid. I'm not rich, but if it's within my budget as a disabled person on benefits. It should be for most people. Support your community people, I'm a skater not a freerunner, but I saw what happened with the commercialisation of skateboarding and the way to counter that is through support of core brands. But although buying merch is great, the profit margins can be skinny. Digital content for a few quid a time can fund more free content, as long as enough people buy it for there to be some profit in it. If not, then not only no feature length productions, but no freebies either, and your favourite freerunners have to get jobs in the rat race, and then we all lose. Storror have found a groove on TH-cam with a solid following who support their efforts. For most teams they need the exposure a good full length glossy production brings, but it's time consuming to film and the equipment costs have to be covered too. Don't be tight, support the athletes you love to watch.
People should really stop bitching about 10 or 20 bucks for a short film that someone has put a lot of work into. Its a form of appreciation for the work that the people put into that project. And everyone has certanly no problem spending 20 bucks or most of the time more on a friday evening out. So just dont go out one week and buy the film! And I'm pretty sure most people have got 20 bucks saved up nontheless...
Totally agree man! It's a bit different for people from poorer countries where they get killed by the exchange rate. But most people complaining about paying for an incredible body of work is entirely unjustified.
As a Gen X-er, it sounds like entitled kids complaining about paying for entertainment when they are used to free access to entertainment, with no clue how much is invested in making quality content.
North Americans are raised to be tribalistic in their patriotism, and also highly competitve. Winning is extremely important to their culture. They find it difficult to understand U.K. panel shows, where the goal is entertainment, not to win prizes. So, of course they are likely to think 'U.S.A vs U.K. Parkour' rather than considering themselves as being part of a global parkour family.
Funny how that dude specified criticism coming from Americans and the praise coming from other countries. Definitely sounds like he's cherry picking to create a narrative or reinforce his bias. As someone that spends much of my time in a creative discipline, every producer of anything needs to accept that what we put into the public is subject to public response. Getting upset about their response isn't the right way to handle the situation. Articulating criticism is a skill that many people lack. No one owes us precise feedback. It's up to us to draw whatever value from criticism that we can.
It's a very small community so we all know who he's talking about, he's just not using their exact names. And it was just a couple of nasty stories without any real criticisms (which many people in Europe made and were well received) so I'm with him on this. There would've been much better ways to criticise the piece without the damaging effect they had... Although I know that the video doesn't go into any specifics of the situation so your comment is totally fair
I haven't heard about the "controversy" around the Breach... They only thing that made me not seeing it is the price. I had rented some movies for 3 to 5$ but never I will pay a 11$ for a parkour movie. Why did they set the price that high for the rent ? (and your target is between 13 to 20 year old guys...)
Hmmm yeah that is strange. I heard that the movie was actually more expensive in the US for some reason because I think I paid quite a bit less than that in the UK. That could have been part of the problem 🤔
@@MaximusWard yes, Here in Canada, it is sold via vimeo vod services and it is 24$ to buy and 11$ for a 24h rent :( (and 24$ US means about 33$ for the Canadian $)
Hahaha nah as long as people benefit from it I'm happy! This also also third episode on a 4 part series of you want more (the previous two episodes are already online and the last one is coming next week). 🙏
Any publicity is good publicity in general. On social media any engagement counts as an endorsement for the algorithms. People like Trump know this and thus provoke hate reactions on purpose. Thus don't fret, do your thing and welcome any attention, engagement and feedback. I actually also work as a social media manager so that the first thing when fuzzy criticism pops up is acknowledging it and asking for more. I say "thank you for the feedback, sorry for the inconvenience, can you elaborate what went wrong?" and the likes. Of course you don't want to feed the trolls though. People often vent their anger on social channels, especially in recent years and it has nothing to do with you or your work. It's just their anger and they need an outlet so when they sense any type of friction they see an opportunity to get rid of their anger that way. Sadly it does not work for them either. By expressing anger you just get more negative.
Yeah the problem here is that this isn't social media content and negative attention isn't good at all because it dissuades people to purchase the content altogether.
@@MaximusWard Yeah, but the buzz is on social media and just because someone is hating in my stream does not mean I will hate it too. The opposite is the case, the additional publicity reaches people who would otherwise not see it or not check it out. So as long as you don't have only 1 star reviews on IMDB all social media engagement is beneficial. The worst thing to happen is that there is no reaction whatsoever.
@@MaximusWard Each time someone comments on your updates the algorithm pushes your content to more people. This is how social media works. Most people don't know that or do not understand that it seems. Thus any comment, no matter what it says, supports your message.
@@onreact yeah but these weren't comments, they were stories from certain big names in the parkour community which had the direct effect of dissuading people from buying the film

Yeah this is facts I found storror in lock down 2019, changed my life
I watched every video since
The most annoying thing about my small part in this (as mentioned by giles) is that my comment is something i completely and truly stand by, and I think many people misinterpreted.
Yeah I agree with you both on this point.
Eyes on Parkour isn't a bad thing.
Roof Culture Asia is absolutely stunning and a masterpiece.
I paid for it and was completely blown away. 100% worth the money
Nothing compares to it yet... It'll be an incredible task to make another parkour film on that level.
i just watched it and holy fuck, ive been following storror for some time but that was epic!
@@dcmj3798 yeah man, it's on another level. You can see why it's worth the money

I assumed someone had died. You were not alone.
Yeah that's a very valid criticism man, we just don't want people to be scared of making more films like this!
Antother great video! I have followed the parkour community for years without practicing the sport and I just love the vibe of it! For me it's an absoulte no brainer to go watch these full length videos!
Thanks so much man, it's absaloutely amazing to have such great support from people outside of the parkour community! 👊🙏
Love what u did here - knowledge about creation & tips 4 future pkr projects--
Second important issue, that hatered or just stupid comments, make us as. Community look bad-really doesn’t serves nothing

Great video man! I personally loved the Breach film. How could you not with all the amazing athletes and the lines they've thrown down! The fact that I enjoy raw clips over edited ones doesn't change how sick the film was and I have deep respect for the work put into the edit haha :D

Epic work on this Max! Quite interesting :)
Yo cheers Fraz, glad you enjoyed it! 🙏💜
The animated bit of Kelan and Giles was great 😂🤘
Haha yeah the animations in ETB are amazing
Well done!
Great thing you're creating this platform to discuss things and creating even a better oportunity to learn from it.
I also applaud for including many criticism points. Especially by Giles. They resonate quite a bit with me.
Criticism is OK and even important! :)
The only thing that was little bit of a turn off for me can be summerized by quoting Chriss from your pevious video: "If you have anything negative to say about this, what are you doing with your life" (probably not the exact quote, but close)
You know what I mean? An attitude which doesn't sit quite well with me.
Love the athletes and hope they and the future generations will be able to do more of this!
Thanks a lot mate! Yeah criticism is definitely really important as long as it's delivered right.
That's definitely not the quote though. He said "what are you doing" in reference to the people who hated on the film with the knowledge that films like this are building a career for the next generation of parkour athletes. The people hating are from that next generation so they are essentially shooting themselves in the foot by hurting the film. That's what he meant
@@MaximusWardThanks for clarifying that! :))
I don't really know that much about the controversy or what was said.

100% worth it man! I think Soul Destroyer is on sale now quite cheap 😉🤙
your transitions connected everything and kept the flow smooth, nice vid
Thank you very much bro, I'm glad you appreciated them! 🙏
Yeah I get you man. Hector's style isn't to everyone's taste but I quite enjoy it. Big ups for supporting projects like this regardless though
Is the Breach video only on Vimeo? I'll get around to watching it. Being in awkward lockdowns for 2 years has made me a fan of watching parkour.
Anyway, thanks for the documentary. I didn't even know there were feature length parkour films.

RCA is my favorite film I've watched to this day. Watch it a couple times a year and still hoping for another one!

Yeah such a good way to put it man. People really don't understand the sacrifice it takes to do something like this independently.

19:22 name of song please anyone? Been after this song for a while now but i cannot find it lol
Mate I have the same problem! Basically I think the song was never released and they got it for the film because Hector the editor is a big man music video director and got it off an artist. But I think the full song has never seen the light of day 😫
I found the breach film edit style really chaotic and i did get lost in it multiple times while watching so i do understand the hate to some extent
There's definitely room for criticism but never for blatant hate given without any feedback whatsoever
Great video, well structured. I found the moving graphics during interviews made the video almost unwatchable, though. Had to make a little window with my hands to just watch the talking heads lol. In the future I would just have a little not-moving team logo in the corner of the screen or something. Other than that, very well done.
Thanks man! And Yeah a lot of people have shared that sentiment man so fair enough, I should have just animated them once and left them but we move.

Very long winded way to say you didn't want to spend €3 haha. But you do you bro. Enjoy your shirt!
I don't know much about parkour, but I do know about writing, and I thought Callum's rant was terrific writing
Haha yeah he's an eloquent bastard isn't he? I can't wait for him to release his book! 😅👌
Has Roof Culture Asia been taken down from TH-cam because every time I try and watch it an error message appears. Really annoying because it’s an incredible film
I'm not sure if it ever was on TH-cam, It's on Vimeo for sure and I think mabye also Amazon
@@MaximusWard I bought it on TH-cam movies or whatever it’s called
@@alicecollins9821 oh true, cool. But yeah there are other options too if it's gone there

I gladly pay the creators of good content and I'm not stupid enough to think that giving and receiving is bad.
Ask Joey off've Friends... 😂
It really is mental though, obviously people should want to pay strangers in return of making them feel happy and entertained.
2 things:
1st : You all risk your health and life in every video you make from short clips on TH-cam to full length, you deserve to make a living on something your good at and at the same time your also inspiring people to get of their ass's and get out there and be healthy.
Haha yeah they definitely are! It's crazy that Storror have two sets of brothers, I haven't seen that in any other teams 🤯
@@MaximusWard btw I went and bought Enter The Breach straight away after seeing this video (well, during the video) so good job bringing this to light.
@@OofHearted that's so amazing to hear man, I'm glad I could help put the spotlight back on the film!
Here I was thinking that the video was about someone dying from a failed roof gap jump
Thankfully not! 😅
WHAT IS THE SONG AT 19:22
It's liiiiiit isn't it! But it's unreleased I think 😭... I think Hector Pitt sourced it from his contacts in the UK music scene. I damn want to add it to my playlist as well!
Hopefully this video will go some way to undoing the damage for Breach.
Don't be tight, support the athletes you love to watch.
the 3 video guys
Precisely 😅👌
1:44 , that killer riff, the name of that kick ass band, please?

Ahhh not sure man, I shazamed it but nothing came up! Try messaging Giles 🤷♂️😅
@@MaximusWard yeah, i did the same but no luck. I'll try sending Giles a DM.
@@Mcclurefotografia yeah he'll probably respond to it
People should really stop bitching about 10 or 20 bucks for a short film that someone has put a lot of work into.
Facts... They simply have no idea
interesting vid, just an opinion the graphics are really distracting to me and make it feel a bit kiddy. A static logo would be much nicer to me :)

Well put
@@MaximusWard Why, thank you. 😊
I don't do parkour but I paid for both Into the breach and roof culture and I loved both of them ❤
Love to hear that man! 👊🙏
Rent is only 5.99 - Buy is 11
@@ethnicalbert yeah I thought it was something like that for me
@@MaximusWard yes, Here in Canada, it is sold via vimeo vod services and it is 24$ to buy and 11$ for a 24h rent :( (and 24$ US means about 33$ for the Canadian $)
@@cldeez-h3v that's maaaaaad, yeah fair enough to be annoyed. I'm sure if you message Chris from Breach he can arrange a fairer price

Who were the Americans that shat on breach??
was it apex?

It will be uncensored when the full interview is released on the Storror podcast if you're interested
@@onreact But the hate only reached people who already knew new about the film so it wasn't extra publicity
The video is broken for me, its all green
Oh damn bro... Have to tried it in a different web browser or device? 😣
@@MaximusWard Its working on other devices. Must have been my crusty phone
@@SomethingSordid good to hear man, sorry about your phone!
It's interesting how everyone basically cannot accept criticism. Just concentrate on the +ve and literally ignore the -ve. Anyone who knows you would not make horrible nasty comments so it should be easy to dismiss. If you can't accept criticism don't put out videos where people can comment. Ignore the bad, revel in the good.
This definitely isn't a case of not being able to accept criticism. This is unjustified hate is which having a directly detrimental effect on the sales of the film and our community as a whole.
