He is BRILLIANT..He was my HEART THROB before I LEFT for UK for Nursing....I was only 17..But I did sing with my Dad's band for a Function...and Frankie Cheah was a GUEST ARTISTE... I met him PERSONALLY..What a BRILLIANT HUMBLE GENIUS man...being a MATHS TEACHER and a CELEBRITY SINGER...Lucky his STUDENTS !!!!
Frankie Cheah's full name is Cheah Boo Seng He studied in St.Xavier''s Branch Sch.Burmah Rd Pg in the 50's I was his school mate.He was in Miss Lee's standard one and I was in Master Kee Chye's class. Many of us still remember him but he seemed to have forgotten us. His buddies were myself Ah Leng,Chow Ah Tim,Maung Ang Tau,Kim Ho, etc.
He sang a malay song title Amalan Suci was so very very perfect and sounds so beautiful. Even till today the tune of the song being played almost everyday on 94.2fm in Singapore.. That's before Maghrib the Muslims prayer call.👍
Thank you very much. I grew up in the 60s in Singapore and I have always like Frankie Cheah and his songs. As far as I am concerned, Frankie is the best singer in Malaysia and Singapore. What a rich and powerful voice!
Frankie Cheah was my school teacher in Segamat. We used to look forward to the School Talentime Contests way back then cos he would belt out Engelbert Humperdink's numbers as a guest singer. . that was before he became famous!!
Frankie was a Penang guy who was teaching in Segamat when he became famous. It was a breakthrough then to hear a full orchestra local recording. We were very proud of Frankie and what he went on to achieve in his personal and professional life. Well, at least we know where he can be found, Ah Tuan's Ee Nonya Restaurant in KL and there is even a branch in Jakarta. Thank you Frankie for the great songs. Thanks to Keith too.
My first encounter with Frankie was at a nite outing in Batu Road in the sixties where he was invited on stage to sing a song. Clearly remembered the song he sang was ONE DAY. Since then fell in love with this song and still love it till today. Hello there, if you would refresh us with that song again.
Thank-you keith this being so many years.i watch him on TV way back the 70's i was a kid.i like the song woman in my life sung by him.thank you once again.from Singapore
Thank you Keith for a fitting tribute to a wonderful performer and, more importantly, to a gentleman and a good friend. Frankie and I were housemates in the early 70s when I was a US Peace Corps volunteer teaching in Johor Bahru. I'm honored and delighted that Frankie and Ai Lin, my wife and I have managed to keep our friendship going over the decades, including having a wonderful reunion at his daughter's wedding. Thanks for rekindling the memories.
I was his student in Segamat High School and I remembered him foraying into the music industry then. The girls in the school were head over heels over him.I do remember he was terrified of me too haha.A very fitting tribute to an entertainer and teacher.
A friend in Singapore just sent me this wonderful tribute to Frankie. Frankie and I were housemates in Johor Bahru back in the early 70s when I was a Peace Corps teacher at English College. How well I remember going to clubs in Singapore with him and his then girlfriend, now wife, Ai Lin and sitting in the audience watching him perform. Our paths have crossed a few times since then, both in KL and in the US and he remains the same charming, and thoroughly delightful fellow I’ve always known. Watching your tribute video this morning here in California started my day with a smile, something all too rare these days. Thanks
Thanks keith. Brings back memories of youth, segamat, segamat high school and my late friend jaswinder who was frankie's neighbor who used to feed us tales of frankie and his antics.
Memories of him is still fresh in my memory; those good old days in ACS Seremban n Senaewang Estate . A great friend, loving n affectionate to all of us.
Good job Keith. I was barely 15 when my parents bought Frankie Cheah's first album. There was this fast number that I kept repeating it on his LP records. Forgotten its title though. And one day I broke the player's needle. So, for me, Frankie Cheah's, Cliff Richard, Beetles and Bad Company's hits were my 'coolest stuffs' then. Cheerio...
I was twenty when I first heard Frankie in the radio with the song called YOU it was oh very awesome. Please somebody upload that song. Now I am sixty but I still dig that song by FC. BEN
Does anyone have a full version songs of Frankie Cheah? 1. You 2. My name is the wind please upload, appreciate this beautiful songs for listening pleasure!

@wanlat59 Thank you for watching. Surprisingly, your request for the song 'Butterfly' and Joolmk's 'Magic Eyes' are not on the 2-CD compilation "Memory Hits". Gotta ask the man himself. Maybe I'm too young to remember. But I do have 'Butterfly' covered by The October Cherries.
To me Frankie is the best local talent discovered. His songs are my favourite even to this day since our college days in MTC Penang. l do not think he can remember me. Anyway all my best to him and his wife. Hope to hear more from him. Ong Chai Chew
@tsdentist56 Hi Simon, Welcome back. It's been a while since I last heard from you. To be exact, it's been two years. Glad you remember Frankie too. I don't know about woman in your life but Frankie's greatest hit "Woman In My Life" is at the end of the four-song montage. Be patient. Listen til the end. Cheers mate.
I'm looking for a Frankie Cheah song which was a top ten hit on the Malaysian charts in the mid 70s. I'm not sure of the title but I think it could be "If I could write a love song". The chorus goes "And I"ll sing sha la la la I love you, Sha la la la I need you, I ain't too good with words, But the meaning would be clear, If I could write a love song". Could someone please upload the song if you have it and also are there any Frankie Cheah cds for sale. Thanks.

He also did "Wheel of Fortune", anyone has a copy of this??
No...SPINNING WHEEL....What goes up must come down....His hit with Cheryl Moana Marie !!!
Mr Low is right you know. He did sing the song WHEEL OF FORTUNE...by Frankie Laine. The lyrics below.
***************&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&*****************
Frankie Laine - Wheel Of Fortune Lyrics
The wheel of fortune,
Goes spinnin' around.
Will the arrow point my way.
Will this be my day.
Oh, wheel of fortune,
Please don't pass me by,
Let me know the magic of,
A kiss and a sigh.
While the wheel is spinning, spinning, spinning,
I'll not dream of winning fortune or fame.
While the wheel is turning, turning, turning,
I'll be yearning, yearning for love's precious flame.
Oh, wheel of fortune,
I'm hopin', somehow,
If you ever smile on me,
Please let it be now.
While the wheel is spinning, spinning, spinning,
I'll not dream of winning fortune or even fame.
While the wheel is turning, turning, turning,
I'll be yearning, yearning for love's precious flame.
Oh, wheel of fortune,
I'm hopin', somehow,
If you ever smile on me,
Please let it be now.
