Salma works very hard at Haseena Beauty Salon. The owner of the salon Aalia is a good friend of Salma. Salma stays with her mother-in-law and step daughter Iman and is the sole breadwinner of the house. Her mother-in-law is cruel to her and makes shrewd remarks on everything she does. Later in the series it is revealed that Salma's husband Sikandar is a convict doing his time in prison and has been released early due to good behaviour. Sikandar is abusive towards Salma and has no constant source of income. He gambles and mugs people and sells stolen watches and cell phones in the gray market.
Imran Bhatti is a cab driver with a heart of gold. All the other cabbies of the neighbourhood admire and respect Bhatti very much. Bhatti came to New York fifteen years back on a tourist visa and has never been able to go back to Pakistan because of his illegal visa status. Bhatti has told everyone in his family that he owns a cab company in the US. His ailing mother lives in Pakistan with his older brother and sister-in-law who treat her badly.
Bhatti is married to an American woman Kathy as part of a citizenship deal. Kathy is mean and rude towards Bhatti. Kathy's daughter Isabella shares this attitude with her mother. Her son Mark however, is close to Bhatti and looks up to him.

The last 75 seconds of this drama eclipses anything the subcontinent has produced in 75 years. What a beautiful drama. Noman Ijaz bhai you deserve an Oscar for your performance. I cannot explain how close this drama is to my heart. I still ask myself, what would Bhatti Sahib do, in making life decisions. What a selfless character. Gave away his Jackson Heights home to his wife and kids. Gave away his Pakistan home to his brother and his wife. Gave away all his savings to his love's husband. Still came out as the winner while everyone else lost a wonderful friend - Bhatti Sahib. Hain? Haan!

Since 90's never came across a drama as good as this one, sad I finished it in just 3 days. Being an overseas student myself, I could relate myself to the story many times and that made me cry as well.
* Theme song adds perfect flavor to the drama.
*Sincere friends like Rizwan, Parlor colleague and Bhatti's cab friend are hard to find but surely we all need such people.
*Little daughter acted exceptionally well, don't know why she reminds me of Indian actress Bhumika Chawla.
*Shows opportunistic relatives of desi culture, always waiting for materialistic benefits ( I call them snakes).
* Kathie was such a lovely character, couldn't believe she would also fall in love at one point.
*Michelle being in love proves that no matter how old and experienced a woman is, she could still be exploited by sugar-coated love words.
*Rizwan being friend-zoned forever also shows reality that such gentlemen never get the woman, she most often falls for bad boy.
*Desi moms spoil their sons and husband being abusive to his wife had all the support of his mom.
*Last but not the least, Man of the Match award goes to Bhatti sahb, what an act by Nauman sir. Cha gaye o sir jee apka Lahorie accent kamaal, Rula dia aur hasa dia, Haan, Hain?

I don't know why this drama is so underrated but it shows the golden era of pakistani dramas and it's golden actors
very beautiful conclusion. loved it. thank you for depicting the harsh realities of american dreams that our people have in their mind but actually it is just the opposite.
i remember this drama airing in 2014, i was 10 back then but my parents watched this one and laiyan laiyan became 'our' song. mom, dad, my brother and me, just the four of us and 8 years later, we're watching this again. every single emotion is awakened, be it jamshed leaving asma, rizwan's unrequited love, the inhuman treatment with nani in pakistan, alia and salma's friendship, javed being an incredible listener, kathy being insolent to bhatti and him still being kind, the conversations between bhatti sahab and salma. all this is so beautifully presented and the words used are just apt. Urdu bohot khoobsurat hai. bhatti sahab has my entire heart, hain? haan!

Mishel was a generous lady that Even after she came to know about jamshed, she sponsored him for college. Ending was awesome. salma and bhati sab Met finally. 😊😊overall a realistic story.

Although a fictional story but it is very close to reality. Many of us have actually lived this story. Drama has ended but story continues with every new immigrant who lands at JFK with big dreams.

I remember it used to come on tv in 2014 ... But i NEVER had thought to watch it because it felt so boring. ..today at this stage of my life, when i am an overseas student, away from family, running nd struggling myself, this story has touched my heart.. selflessness is such a beauty :) Nauman ejaz , what a splendid performance

Watching in 2023 . What an experience. This drama captured my heart like no other since the '90s. As an overseas student, I deeply connected with the story and shed tears. The theme song perfectly complemented the show, and the portrayal of sincere friends like Rizwan, Parlor colleague, and Bhatti's cab friend was touching. The exceptional acting of the little daughter reminded me of Indian actress Bhumika Chawla. It also exposed the reality of opportunistic relatives in desi culture, always seeking materialistic benefits. Lastly, appreciation to Nauman sir for his outstanding performance as Bhatti sahb with a remarkable Lahori accent that moved us to both tears and laughter. Hain ? Haan!!

Yeh drama mera favorite hai 3 dafa dekh rahi ho par abhi bhi dil nahi bhara
Being an expat myself I must say this drama depicts the harsh realities of "pardes" so vividly. We expats gain some petty worldly comforts at the expense of such precious relations and emotions. It's really harsh living an alien environment outside your home country. I do wish some day our own countries become so economically stable that we dont have to leave it ever!

At least every family has one Bhatti whether he’s an overseas or back home.

This drama hits hard when you are abroad, and especially when you are in US. Been student for some time, got some off time, so binge-watched it. Though family back home isn't expecting me to remit $$$, as I'm a student but nonetheless it made me cry. The hustle and bustle, the fast paced life, the urge to connect with every desi you ever see, be it Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi... Man, it's so perfect....

Also, those last couple of dialogues between Bhatti Sb and Salma were so heart warming. More like that threading scene.

Best Drama, My First Pakistani Drama and now felt like watching again, Ijaz is Super Actor and Aamina Sheik natural Acting and love Michelle. Well done all the Actors. This Drama Jackson Heights will be my all time favourite Drama.

I stayed in the US for 10 yrs between 2004 and 2013 - and then I returned back to RAK, UAE. I felt like my life was a reflection of various characters and their experiences in this drama. I dono but I feel like this drama has given closure to a few of my life chapters. Well done Bhatti Saab! Very nice acting!

Don't understand why Michelle gave a raw deal to Rizwan who loved her and remained consistently loyal to her while she forgave Jamshed and was even fair to adnaan ,the supervisor !!
Because she did not had romantic feelings for Rizwan. She did adored, respected, and loved him as a true friend but had no love love kind of desires for him.
And I don't think that it would have been fair to Rizwan to have a partner who doesn't really love him the way he Loves her.
Yes it's painfull to not to be able to get the stand of the person you love and desire but I think it's more painfull to have it but without love.

Watched it within 10 days. Today it's 14th October 2023. What a masterpiece. Really loved it. All the actors played their roles perfectly, especially Noman Ejaz and Amina Sheikh. The events and situations that were portrayed in this drama reflect reality and they happen in our lives on day-to-day basis.

Every series, drama or movie has ONE stand out character, who/which takes it to a whole different level. For me, i am sure for everybody else, Bhatti saab was that character. He carried the drama on his shoulders and people would remember this performance and would remember jackson heights through him. Like ahsan khan in udaari, bushra ansari in bilqees kaur.
The end..i dont generally get sentimental over media content..but it was damn emotional. Specially when you have lived away from homeland or have loved and lost😊

There are two serial name Aangan one by ARY tv and one by HUM tv. So check the ARY tv serial.

Finished it in 6 days. Proud to be from Pakistan where such quality stuff is produced. And hats off to my Indian friends who also loved this masterpiece as much as we all did.
