I just want to say your MarineLand videos have been so helpful, to finally move my niece's betta fish from the bowl he was living in, to a better environment! I had a quick question about the heater. I put it in that back compartment, and I read that it needs to be totally submerged. Which it was. However, I found it a few days later with less water (???) no idea how. There are no leaks, maybe evaporation? I wanted to see if you had any tips for that or if it has happened to you. I got scared and unplugged it because I read that it should not be above water! Let me know your thoughts :) Thank you so much for such helpful content for fishies!!
This aquarium was one of my first tanks for my bettas. I eventually switched up to just a regular 10 gallon glass tank, or acrylic 10 gallon if I could afford it. The Marineland is really a beautiful tank for sure (and a reasonable size for a betta) but I couldn't clean the back filter space at all with my hand. I found it hard to remove and clean the tubing, etc., in there as the space is so small. Also, I just wanted a larger tank that made it easier to maintain water quality and for the betta to have more space. That worked the best for me. Those old school 10 gallon tanks are so reasonable to purchase. I got most for $14.00 on Amazon at least a few years ago. Love your tanks though and the fish you choose. I'm sure you have it down maintaining the 5 gallon. I found your channel when you were explaining swim bladder disease and treatment of it. I don't know if you like doing those fish disease videos but I learned a lot from that video. Fortunately it turned out my betta didn't have that disease, but still I am happy to have the information. It's a relief to recognize a fish disease so treatment can accurately begin. I cured my one betta with Saprolegnia but I had a hard time finding out that this was the true diagnosis. So since then I am trying to learn as much as I can but it's not so easy sometimes
I was wondering if you could tell me how you know the filter is working. I filled the tank to between the max and min line but see no water flowing from the spout and no bubbles. Thank you!
I have a question, is there any other cheaper option for the water conditioner? I'm a college student and I am kinda broke so the almost $30 water conditioner is a little too expensive for me.
I just ordered this. Can I get away without the filter modifications? Is there a supplement I can add to substitute that? I’ll definitely get the water conditioner.
Okay quick question: the tank setup for the aquarium says “if adding a heater, do not place it in the filter box since the water level can drop causing the device to overhear. Place the heater inside the main tank.” I bought the model of heater you recommended for this video, am I still good to put it in the filter box?
Hey bro I got a question. Do I need a certain type of water to put in the fish tank or does it matter? Ik its its dumb question but im new to this stuff thanks !
Hey Pharmaquatics, I just got my 5 gallon portrait tank through your link, I wanted to get the heater you recommended but they only have the 25watt, will this be sufficient for this size tank?
yeah it's done pretty often in the hobby with plants that have rhizomes (i.e. anubias) the key is to just glue a portion of it to the stone and growth shouldn't be impeded!
This may be a dumb question (I'm a real noob at this), but I bought gravel instead of the substrate you recommend (I found your videos too late!), and I got a live plant. Is it okay to keep my plant in gravel for it to survive, or do I absolutely need this substrate? I bought all of my other stuff through your very useful links. Thanks so much for making all this so easy!
There's no dumb questions no worries bro - plants can survive in gravel or sand depending on the plant, lighting conditions, and nutrients. I've had success in both! I wouldn't switch to sand if you already have gravel.
Hi, I’m looking forward to getting a male betta soon and for the filter some review on the tank said it was bad but if I follow what you did for your filter would the tank be fine ? thank you for the video❤️

for the sake of getting circulation back there, none that i can really think of. I will say that tubes of this size are fairly easy to find online or even in hardware stores if you mess up. and if its a matter of you making one too many holes, you can always cover some back up with a rubber band
