    These tutorials have really helped me. I am in the middle of my 2nd project (a China cabinet) probably too big of a project for a beginner, but I did so well on my first one( I think so anyway 😊) that I thought I could handle it. Wish me luck on completing it! Love your work!

    Hi Christina. I gotta tell you…I so look forward to your videos. I've watched many others on chalk painting but you are my favorite. I like how you are succinct, explain why you do what you do, and are very organized. The printed tips at the bottom as you go along and clear camera shots are a plus. Very well done, so thank you. A pleasure to watch and learn from. Thank you!

I just do not want the piece ALL white and the only other option is the color graphite which is black. I'm not feeling too comfortable doing a black top but I do want the top of my piece much darker then the body. Please give me your opinion. Thank you.

    your video has a pop up that says to dark wax over wet clear wax, yet your piece has been completely done with clear wax...so did you immediately, after the clear wax go to your dark wax? I'm asking because I have a piece where I'm done with the clear wax but have to go to an appointment. Therefore, when I get back or tomorrow, will I have to clear wax again before applying dark wax?

    I am following this method but my piece looks a bit splotchy in the middle. What am I doing wrong? Also...my steel wool is shedding and tiny little fibers are getting into my brushes and the wax. Eek!! I bought exactly what you said you use. What the heck.

    • @ChristinaMuscari
      @ChristinaMuscari  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jessica Wilson The steel wool will wipe off when you gently wipe your piece with the lint free cloth. Use a lighter hand with your dark wax if you think it looks splotchy. Or you can cut it with more clear wax. You can also take clear wax over the splotchy part and it will lift some of the dark wax. It sometimes takes a bit a playing around to get it where you want. Good luck.

      My wife and I refinish furniture with this look but we have a huge dresser in our bedroom that we did with Old White and then just left it that way with no distressing. Pair it with black hardware and stain the top of a piece with a dark color and then clear coat (and then buff like crazy) the top for a really clean look without the "haze" of wax. It will be unprotected though so having it on a high traffic piece will mean you'll have to do touch ups

      +Shei W I did two coats here. You can apply dark wax after your clear wax has cured but I prefer doing it right after I apply to clear wax because it's easier to work with "wet."

      +Shei W And I only use brushes because I prefer a hand painted look.

    So I'm redoing a dresser and I didn't use chalk paint can I still use the wax? Will it work? Or do I need to use chalk paint?

      +cortney glidden You can use wax over latex but it does really soak in like it does with chalk paint.

    Is that Annie Sloan wax brush if it's not may I ask where you got your brush I didn't pick one up when I went out of town to get the wax and chalk paint so I'm trying to figure out where I might be able to get one similar to hers here where I live

      That is a Annie Sloan wax brush. In my opinion this one is a good option you could get online.. joliehome.com/collections/brushes/products/jolie-wax-brushes?variant=9135177990188&aff=18. I also have used this one and like it as well. (Use code CHRISTINA for 20% off - I think it still works) codaartisans.com/shop/Waxine™-Wax-Brush-1-5-Made-in-USA-p80223180

    Chalk paint furniture is so overrated. Soon it will be out of fad/style (if it isn't already) since everyone and their mother is into it. Not everyone wants the farm look either. Just my honest two-cents.

    Hi Christina, I have a question, why do we need to mix clear wax and dark wax? What happen if you use one the dark wax without mix it?

    • @ChristinaMuscari
      @ChristinaMuscari  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't have to. It's a preference for me. I find it blends better if I dilute it a bit, but you can use it full strength.
