I really wanted to love this new style Cuisinart hand blender that I picked up at Costco. Unfortunately Cuisinart is aware of their design flaws. Many reviewers have told them to get rid of the lock button and to make the unit ergonomic. Cuisinart has come out with many versions of their Smart Stick hand blender, all with the same design flaws, the locking button and awkward hand grip. Not only is there no need for a locking button, but the fact that Cuisinart doesn't listen to their customers feedback and get rid of the pointless button is mind-blowing. Cuisinart has been in the business long enough that they should know that ergonomics are important and you shouldn't need two hands to operate a "hand blender". With my model, you have to twist the top for the speed adjustment while holding down chansey plastic buttons on the front (one for the lock mechanism and one for the power). At the back of the stick there is a cut out for your hand, which is not properly contoured. This makes it awkward to hold the device. The cheap feeling plastic definitely wouldn't hold up to any abuse, so make sure this smooth cylinder doesn't ever roll off the counter. This mixer is neither smart nor a hand mixer. If you're in the market for a "hands mixer" with a cheap feel, that will cause your vessel to fly off the counter while offering a non-economic handgrip, then this is the blender for you! I don't know about you, but I will continue my search and will think twice about ever purchasing products from such a tone-deaf company, but clearly ignores their customers feedback. Tip to Byers anytime a company has to put a separate important notice on instructions for use it was poor designed!! To Cuisinart, I have previously held a very high opinion of you and have many many products from you in my home. Anyone involved with bringing this product to Market should be canned (start at the top!)!! When hiring focused more on employees with common sense and cooking knowledge/ experience, over ones that look good on paper.
@@kristinakristina Your comment leaves me dumbfounded. You can't just put it somewhere they can't reach, or tell them not to touch it? Do you have them always wear protective helmets, what if they fall?
@@misterx-gy3fg They like to cook & be in the kitchen with me 😃 3 boys tend to get into anything and everything and for peace of mind, I love the lock button function. They haven’t figured it out yet 😄
The instruction booklet that I read through mentions that the blade of the chopper attachment can be reversed. The sharp used for most of the work and the blunt side for chopping nuts and other hard items. I actually appreciate the safety feature of the lock button as nobody really wants to lose a finger.
Wow...received it at xmas as a gift. Tried using it today would not work until i saw your video....cake blended using other ways....now i will know in the future to use this item.
Thank you for tutorials like this. They helped when my mother had trouble today. The lock button is a pain in the rear. I get safety concerns but it makes it very difficult to use the item.
Really struggled to remove the motor body from immersion tool. Needed to use the chopper-and can NOT get it to release. I may return this and try one more unit. (Otherwise, Amazon Basics is glitch-free, and I’ll buy my second for my second home) sigh.
I have this model and it sucks. I hate having to hold down the start button while using it. I have arthritis and it just doesn't work for me to have to hold the start button down while in use. I hate it. I had the older version and loved it. Push the start button and let it go and could swirl the blender around and my hand didn't get tired. Whoever designed this new blender is a moron. The older version was perfect. I've used the new one just ONCE. It has been in my kitchen tool drawer for over a year. I refuse to use it because it is so inefficient.
How do you use the whisk so that it doesn't splatter everywhere!? When I tried with that measuring cup, it exploded and I was left with almost no liquid. :(
Why is there not an updated video that explains the two sides of the chopping blade, how to assemble it snd how to use it? I think I figured it out from the instruction book, but not before cutting my finger.😢
The instruction manual states on page 13 in the asteric to refer to page 8 to change the blades from the sharp side to the blunt side - but page 8 makes no mention of that option. Please advise.
I bought one of these from, first time something stopped the motor it stopped working. I didn’t even get the chance to use all the attachments,A little extra research showed that this is a common issue.
I am returning mine to Costco! Only used it 6 times and it won't turn on now. Thought I forgot how to use so watched this video, ok still won't turn on. Bummer!
well I try that then, Why in the world would they make two different buttons kinda awkward in my opinion just got one of these and try to turn it on and nothing wow, I guess that's why they had them on sale. Geez Back to the store thought I was getting a product that was tried and tested before it hit the shelfs, what was I thinking. I just wanted a hand blender that works that's all I ask for. Geez back to square one.
I had a hard time deciding between the Cuisinart th-cam.com/users/postUgkxbHS6iDzgurU5HDfOQwM9gHX0K703-UyJ (rated # 1 by America's Test Kitchen) and this KitchenAid hand mixer. After receiving the KA, I inserted the beaters and turned the KA unit on in the air. The beaters seemed "wobbly" and I was worried that I may have made a mistake. Then I actually beat egg whites into a meringue (a good test) and found that they whipped up much quicker than usual. Now I think the "wobbly" beaters are built to orbit that way to improve the mixing. The "slow" start is a nice feature, too, and it keeps a thin batter from splashing out when the beaters are first inserted. Because there is little splashing, I find that it's also easier to clean this mixer. About two weeks after purchasing the KA mixer, I was delighted when I read that this year the KitchenAid is rated #1 by America's Test Kitchen! Official validation for my own good taste/instincts.
@citrinecoure8272 I'm going to return mine because it's a very poor design. You have to hold in the lock button with one hand and the power with the other. The power is too sensitive and if you let go you have to hold the lock button again. It doesn't stay on lock which is a very unsafe "safety" feature. I am a coordinated person but can't control my bowl or pan and work these 2 buttons at the same time. Think of a hot sauce pan hurling off somewhere or splattering on bare skin! Food goes flying all over the kitchen and makes a huge mess as well. No! JUST NO!
Lol lol looks so awkward to use. She has to put three fingers on there looks like she's playing a guitar or something lol. Glad I watched this video first before I went to Costco and bought it lol
I was SO annoyed with this stick blender. Coming from Cuisinart, this has got to be the worst design. If this many users are having issues, why can’t the Marketing team see this? Terrible design, it is not user friendly at all. It should be a 1-step on/off button function. Holding the ON button to blend is awkward. If it wasn’t for this video, I would’ve returned this back to Costco.

Same here😂
A bloody nuisance ! That assuming you know what to do otherwise even more flustrating
Same here!!
Yep...used a hand blender as i thought this blender wouldnt work until i seen this.
Thanks for demonstrating each piece!

Have you figured out how to change the blades? I'm having the same problem!
@@alysewilton3211 sorry, no one has gotten back to me on this as yet.
Thank you for the explanation of the power button/lock button combo. I thought my brand new blender was somehow broken. :)
SAME!
It's so awkward for me to make them both go at the same time as my block button is on the top :-(
How do I get the lid off the chopper/grinder container? I can’t get it off

Thank you! This is awesome! I was looking for my manual and ended up giving up and finding this video on YT.

Wish you'd have included how to get all those parts into the storage bag that came with it.
How do you work the shredder disk? I gave up!

Very helpful, thanks!
Hi please what can I do if the shaft stuck to the motor body? Thanks
How can I detach the motor body from the chopper grinder attachment? I did press the button to detach but it didnot work. What else can I do?

Thank so much I was stuck with it.
Does the shaft come smaller that the older version?
I can't get the top of the blander off, why?
Thank u so much dear for the information
Why did you make it so complicated ? I do not like the locking and unlocking mechanism.
Same here. It’s awful. They ruined what was a great product.
It's the best. You can wash it.
You guys ruined your immersion blender with the new locking mechanism. I prefer my old one so much more. Very uncomfortable and not user-friendly
