I didn't see the game or the play that preceded the cardiac arrest but will it be right to describe it as a football injury on the field? I heard that the receiver hit his chest inadvertently.
@@outofnaija I don’t think we can look at this as being a football injury on the field. I mean an injury is a broken bone, pulled or torn muscle or tendon. You don’t have a heart attack making a routine tackle. You don’t have medical personnel on the field giving you cpr or oxygen to help you breathe. Just think dude actually died at that moment. But thank GOD the medical people who responded did a good job and brought this young man back to life.

I'm a heartbroken 💔 grandmother. I have grandchildren in his age group, and I feel compassionate pain 😢
His father that raised him as well in the same house as his mother name is Mario, and he loves him too. He has a dad as well. Seems everyone only acknowledging the mother.
This reminded me of how I felt for Christian Eriksen two years ago. of Denmark for those don't watch soccer/football go read about what happen to Christian Eriksen 2 years ago in the Euro Championships. He had a heart attack on the field with millions watching live. He was not only able to fight his way back and play again, but he was arguably Denmark's best player in this world cup. Prayers go up for Hamlin & his family I pray he is able to make it through this tragic event.

I still can’t imagine achieving your life dream and unfortunately now fighting for your life because of it. I can’t imagine what his teammates are thinking. What does the teammate who had the last conversation with him think? The players that played with him for years. No matter if the nfl has protocol for this or not, it still doesn’t mean the nfl, it’s employees, players/coaches, and fans are mentally able to move forward with the rest of the season. Humans are a social species and it’s heartbreaking and hard to even talk about any sports for the time being. It’s truly sad but the unfortunate truth. I hope damar hamlin can pull through, not to play football at a high level, but to even be alive and have a normal like again. 🙏

At the end of the day, I always want athletes to leave the competition in good health. It's just a game, and no game is worth your life. This young man's family will live with the consequences of what happened.

Well said Marcus. It's different when you know the person and see them everyday and are around them a lot. I'm a nurse and even though i have had to deal with patients dying, i know it's part of the job and i'm able to compartmentalize. But when i had a coworker die in a head on collision and they wanted me to come right to work within hours of this happening and just fulfill her job duties as if nothing happened, that was a NO.
Hope this kid pulls through. I've never seen that grave of an injury before. This is why many parents don't want kids to play football. Just sad

Man, after 16 years of being a football fan (I’m 23), this is probably the scariest thing I’ve ever seen happen on the field. Waiting to hear about if this man is even going to wake back up…smh man. Swagu is 1000% correct. This is way more than just football

Im like none of the players are in the right mindset to even play a game after what just happened. Everybody who says they should have kept playing had money on that game point blank and period.

Unfortunately this is footballs first introduction to someone having cardiac arrest on the field. Happened to Reggie Lewis, Hank Gathers, and Christian Erickson. Sometimes people have heart conditions that slip through physicals.
@Johnny Appleseed I don’t think so. When that sort of thing happens, a complete arrest, it’s sometimes untreatable, and no way of knowing ahead. We all have clots passing through us, sometimes one can be large enough to cause a pulmonary embolism. Which just drops you dead. 🤷🏻

This is definitely a situation. I appreciated the take dan orloski and company had and praying for him on live TV. In today's society where these people at these networks are beyond hypocrites and their agendas. A lot of these fraudulent people trying to show support and actual care are so full of it, they don't reflect on their actions and agendas to the damage it does to people around this country but will be the first ones trying to show they have a heart. God works in many ways and many times we have an inability to understand why but if it takes something like that for people to actually wake up and turn to God, everything is for the glory of God. This event brings Christ front and center on live television for many to see, it shouldn't take tragedy for ppl to get along and come together. More prayers for this man and his family that they may be eased by the great comforter and may he recover for the glory of god

It’s really sad what happened last night. I really hope he makes it out okay! It pisses me off that a lot of people in these fantasy chats are making fun of this situation. It pisses me off that we make fun of athletes like Anthony Davis, Jalen Hurts, etc when they get injured. It’s a sick world. People need to start having respect for athletes as a human even if it messes up your fantasy week and have respect for athletes who get commonplace injuries that hurt the teams you root against.

This happens in auto racing, typically. You can criticize the chassis setup, the inflation on the tyres, but how do you ALSO criticize the sheer nature of the sport of football--a sport that's known for head-to-head collision, but just maybe--just MAYBE have not been so "advertised" because the defense of the "shield" is such a movement within itself...I just hope this young man will be alright...that's pretty much it.
NFL needs to go back to 16 games
I think it should be shorter than that….maybe like 12 games then the playoffs. Injuries always ruin the chances of winning a championship in any sport. Sporting leagues milking their fans with all these unnecessary games during the regular season at the expense of player health and safety.

Unpopular opinion: If not one prayer was uttered. Demar Hamlin would still be in the position he is in now. Due to his inner fighting strength and the modern medical procedures.

Look this is obviously serious and I hope Damar is ok. Praying for his family. But espn is milking this for all it's worth and acting like this is the 1st time this has happened. It's not. As recently as 2012 a Chiefs player, Belcher, shot and killed his GF then shot himself. The Chiefs played the next day. The NFL has not cared about player safety or mental health. I guess people forget the Tua stuff from this season. But sure heap praises on the NFL for postponing the game 🤪
