    This tutorial is wonderful! I just made a functional zipper panel for a college project with close to zero sewing experience because of this video. Thank you so much!

    Great video and explanation. I am a bit confused about adding the 2 inches. It shows that you measured the 3-1/2" from end to end which looked like included the 1/2" seam allowances on each side, making the actual cushion 2-1/2" wide. So would you add just 1" for the zipper seam allowances since you measured the original cushion cover with the seam allowances already built in?

      Yep! You are 100% correct I should've cut my zipper panel 4 1/2". I did include the seam allowance on the 3 1/2" measurement. Thanks for pointing that out! I'll have to edit the vid with a text overlay. if you did that too you can make the center seam for the zipper 5/8" or 1" to compensate and/or when you sew in the zipper panel at the end of constructing your cushion just bring that seam in a little. Wow...good eye!

    Question... I watched the other video where this video was linked for making cushion covers. I could be wrong but I believe you said to make the zipper plague longer so it wraps around the sides of the cushion. So if my cushion is 44 1/2 inches long would I make the zipper strip 48 1/2 inches long plus 1 inch seam allowance?

      Yes, I always do my zippers around the corner as long as you won't see the zipper through the chair on the sides. It just makes stuffing the cushion so much easier. Your measurements seem perfect.

    So...if my cushion is 2 inches and adding batting, so 2 and half inches, Do I add additional 2 inches so 4 and half for the zipper placket?
    and doesn't it matter what your zipper width is?

    • @MimzyandCompany
      @MimzyandCompany  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      all zipper should be same width I think... and you'll add one inch for your outside seams and 1inch for your zipper seams. so if you cushion finished needs to be 2 inches then YES cut your zipper placket 4inches! well done

    Did you use a standard zipper. Can a slip cover zipper be used instead and if so would the measurements be the same

    • @MimzyandCompany
      @MimzyandCompany  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes , I use a standard #5 zipper. But you can use almost any kind of zipper. I use #5 because it’s a little bigger which makes it easier to open and close.
