Gin mentions that his sword momentarily turns to dust while changing shape. I think it's a little poetic that this secret property of the sword is very similar to Rangiku's shikai, where her sword turns to ash (also a type of dust), but very overtly.

Gin's final moments will always be heartwrenching especially his final apology. To think he had Aizen only to force an evolution that made him immortal. Still, at least he tried even if such a thing can only get you so far when dealing with OP gods who seemingly have a counter for everything.

While it may seem like a random connection, Gin's and Rangiku's zanpakuto do take on the form of ash, which also has a strange connection to Harribel's poem. She was the Third Espada, last to be cut down from her group. Gin was the Squad 3 captain, the last to be cut down at all from Aizen. Her poem speaks of 'ash floating in a sea of blood' to be the world. It may seem to be a stretch, but perhaps her poem also was subtly referring to Gin as the unjust sacrifice in a unjust world- much like herself.

The story needed At Least a singular thematic snake parallel and HONESTLY…
With the number of predictable abrahamic monotheistic “snake from the garden who’s whichever named devil/demon/etc.” Twists that EVERY westerner Knows is the MOST likely Snake Themed narrative subtle implications or even heavily implied character parallels, which; With Gín, appear so On the Nose that the subversion of BadGuy Devil Snake to Just a snake theme in name that Really is more like a snake that’s part of his own Potentially Unexplored with answers DESIRE to return the pieces of the first girl that is either loved as a little sister or an adoptive stepsister which kinda loves him instinctively though None of these feelings for eachother CAN even be explored beyond their Surface level interpretations and vague wonderings…
I LOVE that we Know Rángíkū loves him at least as an elder family/lover/protector who helped when she Least expected before ABANDONING her for reasons she couldn’t be told… and BOOM it was all a Hundred year long childhood mission to reclaim the stolen pieces of her soul and return them SOMEHOW… Which MAYBE if he’d paid closer attention to Aîzèn’s dialogue about Ôrīhímé then he Could have told her to try Returning the missing piece of her soul which had been stolen by Aîzèn because it’d be a good test for if he could recreate additional copies of these pieces of the Réīô (with whichever power-hungry Àrráncár there as a decent distraction that wants all of them to Ascend to levels they Suspect Èspádâ Shíī/Yôn may be beyond them in mastery of the Shinigami powers in a more well rounded way akin to powers like Bánkaî… though he thinks Aîzèn doesn’t know somehow… )
But having our dearest of flower hair ornament rejectors of reality in direction of her own views of a better reality to Réīô Levels always felt like the ONE way the girl COULD MAYBE get her Bánkaî if she KNEW she was missing a crucial chunk of her soul and saved by Gín at least in the aftermath…
I forget how much of it he ever even gets the chance to explain to her about how he’s sorry he couldn’t accomplish his soul-child’s goal of revenge…
Though he could’ve killed those dude Before they gave it to Aîzèn maybe and then returned to her… but I wonder how well they’d know anything besides just the instincts and whatever happened when he got a cloak and Ásàūchí… but I wonder how easily kid Gín takes these lowtear Aîzèn subordinates?!
And ALSO, if he were smarter and had had more conversations with Kísūké about the best means of eliminating Aîzèn ahead of time THEN maybe it could’ve gone differently but I guess he needed to have such a Shocking twist of Deep Cover 100 year operation just to return a nice girl the part of her soul that had been robbed from her….
Does ANYONE think Hítsūgáyà would be captain before Rángíkū if she WASNT missing a piece of Réīô where the power of PART of the hōgïôkū taken is the Bit that completes her Powers so that she’s functionally the difference between an Extra Disabled Lieutenant+ level where they simply NEVER seem to have a Bánkaî… and this feels like something Maybe Ínôūé could Easily fix if she was told in detail by someone like EVEN a Gín living in Hell WHICH could be an Amazing way to have a character return in a new mysterious way where his Real Goal is to get Kázūí to somehow use his own or his mum’s powers to Reject Reality where these things transpired… I think Maybe Tsūkīshímà is the furthest the powers used might be pushed to really reveal how a LOT of Problems that 12th Division & Kísūké could Attempt would still be inadequate in comparison… but I do wonder if that wouldn’t remove SOME of Aîzèn’s powers from the final battle, though if it’s all After that battle, then Why Not?!
It is funny how so many times I’ve thought how sharing Réīátsū between the right characters at the right moments COULD cause massive sudden growths in characters’ capabilities in general…
But Maybe he’s a Proper Devilish Deciever Snake Now that he’s in Hell? or he just feels duty to be a better servant Now and to never be shocked by these Humans who outdo professionals then whine about their schedule in the world of the living… which Must feel laughable!
But dude could’ve made a multi Kídō based trap that reacts to Aîzèn whilst he’s leaving MORE than One bit of his blade to poison him where maybe he could also cut open his skull and poison it WITHOUT explaining it to Aîzèn? & then travel to knocked out Rángíkū with it BUT then we kinda NEED some Sántèn Kèsshūn to at least reject the Déīô pieces Back into what they were meant to be and have them Added to Rángíkū which MAYBE rejecting Her without all her pieces taken could force them to reconstitute from whatever Aîzèn may possess…
But poinsoned Multiple times whilst Kísūké stuff get Aîzèn concerned and maybe the hōgïôkū turning back would also remove stuff or whatever…
I mean the Tsūkīshímà idea feels like they could just rewrite Rángíkū to’ve regenerated her stolen powers normally so that she finally has her REAL powers which… I imagine will be MORE than just More Ash… more arse, sure, but simply more Ash for Haînèkō feels as dull as expecting Gín to simply have extend-a-sword speed & length boost as his SUPPOSED Bánkaî powers….
The god killing theme is too delicious, though I wonder how this MIGHT shift in Hell….
But I also wonder if Tsūkīshímà couldn’t also bring people back to life if he cut people in hell to rewrite their past whichever ways so that they’d not be dead but also still have mastery over their time in the path of hell… but that might be a bit much…
Just KINDA Wondering what Rángíkū in the war looks like with Bánkaî hollowfication, better understanding of Gín & perhaps something related to snake theming or whatever Fullbring related stuff Especially if they tell her about fullbring powers from the Réīô off panel & how whichever powerful Èspádà & Licht Reich have elements that made them incomparably superior to the ordinary powers they’d have without whichever piece of the Réīô…
Maybe a Hítsūgáyà-busy/disabled temporarily to FORCE her to be Acting Captain? Which wouldn’t be a worry cause no one knows she’s become Different after hanging with Rūkíà & Ôrīhímé & them making her have Tsūkīshímà force her to regain her Original powers…
Imagine if she powered up so substantially cause of it all and hade her powers evolve a bit… it feels reasonable for PostTYBW Ôrīhímé to be capable even if we need Tsūkīshímà using book of the end to rewrite her past… but whether this effects Aîzèn is the only big question up in the air…
What do anyone that read this think?! Yay or Nay?! Is this worth exploring with maybe Gín from hell and whichever other characters or should they all be completely warped by their Damnation despite it being shinto-buddhist hell?

Also Aizen's Kyaka Suigetsu weakness was highlighted earlier when Head Captain Yamamoto tricked Aizen into impaling him so he could grab him. Yama even states that because the blade is imbedded in his body, he knows it is the real Aizen and not an illusion.(similar to how Tosen's Zanpakto weakness works)

It was because of Yamamoto’s sheer Reatsu that he knows it was real and not an illusion when he was stabbed.
Yamamoto’s Reatsu could identify what was real and what was not. He hold on to Aizen to kill him point blank and so that Aizen could not escape.
It’s true that Kyoka Suigetsu’s weakness was first explained during the Gin scene that anyone in contact with the Zanpakuto are not affected.
Also anyone who had not seen his Shikai release are also not affected like Ichigo.

It has three weaknesses. One is hyper situational. First one is what you just mentioned. Second is when Gin tries to kill Azien. He revealed he knows if you can touch his blade you won’t be effected by complete hypnosis. 3rd is What Ichigo said after their presumed victory over YHWACH is that he could feel something off when he entered the battlefield when he showed up to help SS fight him and again felt the same sensation when he returned to soul society for the final battle. Implying those who are not under its influence can tell when it’s activated and effecting others. This is why this weakness is hyper situational cause the moment Azien activates it all that see the release are forever effected by it. Azien even comments he had no clue that not showing Ichigo his release would pay off the way it did.

Even if you limited it to mach 500, do you have any idea how much destructive power a sword moving at that speed possesses? Striking the ground at that speed once would wipe entire countries off the face of the earth. If he did his rapid-fire attack, he could literally destroy the world.
The fact that all that energy is contained within the tip of his blade is horrifying to think about. Forget Karakura Town. If he just aimed downward and didn't hone all that energy, he'd obliterate all of Japan in a single blow.

Gin's nonchalant approach is what kept others off balance although both Aizen and Ichigo caught on to his plan but weren't successful at stopping Gin. of course the best weapon only had a few moments. Gin activated his most deadly move without uttering a sound, a phrase, a enchantment, or a name when Shinzo stabbed Aizen. 13:20 Imo Gin's betrayal was still critical to taking down Aizen. This is the exact turning point that Aizen began acting extremely arrogantly, because he was legitimately caught off guard and would've died if he didn't have the Hogyoku. In his mind if he could survive that, nothing else could ever be a threat.
His new arrogance also did more than just make him underestimate Ichigo, it actually hampered his ability to further evolve with the Hogyoku. The Hogyoku responds to desire and during the fight with Ichigo, Aizen's evolutions don't really amount to much beyond just getting stronger because all he wants at that point is to defeat Ichigo. Heck Aizen himself stated that he was beyond trying to understand Ichigo, because what would he gain from it. He stopped thinking critically about his situation.
Had Gin not tried to kill Aizen as he did, Aizen would've still been cautious around Ichigo, and he likely would've had triggered a different evolution that would result in him actually succeeding.

But than again now that I think about it I guess his whole point was to get the portion of Rangikus soul that was stolen which means he needed access to the Hogyoku. Gin got it out of a long time ago probably and was just waiting for that ideal opportunity. He even had a contingency in Ichigo. And I think eisen deliberately told him about KS weakness because that's the type of guy Aizen is, I assumed he would have known that the second Gin found some arbitrary reason to put his hands on KS, that's when the strike would come. You even hear Aizen in the dub version just as Gin touches KS and says that he'll go after the kids, Tatsuke and the rest, Aizen says "GIN" with a sort of " DON'T YOU DARE INFLECTION IN HIS VOICE" when you add it all up he knew he didn't kill Rangiku and probably knew about Gins motives from just about the beginning but he was a prodigy and he was zealous in his goal so Aizen knew he can manipulate him. 3:14 Not a copy!
Both stumbled about the concept independently. And set out to create it, using a different method. Neither one was completely successful, but together it worked.
Kisuke used his science and superior mind to make progress.
Aizen brute forced it by collecting souls. Actually, his method reminds me of Auswählen. I wonder if he was aware of the Vandenreich back then?
4:31 Not just s captain, but a genius. At least on Hitsugajas level. He killed a 3rd seat as a child, just to introduce himself. I wonder if he managed to kill the other 3 guys from that night along the way?
6:38 It was not like a normal sword. Ichigo remarked it was notably short. More a Wakizashi then a Katana.

(Only the veterans knew about this. All the "younger" shinigami, Rukia, Renji, Kira, Nanao, Rangiku, Hitsugaya, etc. they had no idea.)
      Spoiler>/spoiler>
The shinigami confirmed to have gone to hell are Yamamoto, Unohana and Ukitake.
I've been wondering whether they'd still go, without ritual, and whether any of the old gotei captains are there. I'd assume they're all dead, since it would've been impossible for the Gotei to change with them around. Yamamoto and Unohana might've been the only reformed criminals out of that bunch.

If Gin had only try using the Bankai earlier. Also, Mayuri statment about a destroy bankai is BS. Some sort are breakable in a way. And he himself blow up his bankai and then say he can fix it because the hill is intact. Also, the question was pretty obvious answer, Yes, Kamishini No Yari leave a piece. But considering it's a small piece after transformed. It would be logically to assume it recovers with every transformation. The Shikai/Bankai form changes are base on spiritual particles not laws of physics matter logic. Otherwise his sword would become weaker when extended because it needs to distributed the same mass over a beger are. But doesn't. Or Swords like Senbon Sakura wouldn't be able to pull itself together fully when some of the petals are damaged on battle. Or the Bankai, that transform the entire sword, hilt and all, even if you break it. Into a Bankai with clearly more mass than the original sword. Heck even chigo's clothes are a construct of his spiritual particles. Many swords produce something that can be counted as an extra even tho it's part of the sword. Soifon's Jakuho Ralkoben create a misile that is launched and destroyed. The Zanpakuto isn't then missing a piece. If her's can sacrifice a much biger portion. A portion that it's bigger than the original sword when sealed. Why wouldn't Gins sword be able to recover a tiny piece. In the case of Soifon she state she can't fire more than 1 missile every 3 days because it tires her. I'm assuming because it uses spirit particles, hers. So it needs time to "recharge"

I wish they stay with that, with gin making huge swing slicing apart the sky and earth. Then when ichigo go in to counter the reach, gin just grab his sword with bare hand using little effort.
Since if you think about it, the longer the sword the less mechanical advantage gin will have. The fact he can still slice apart building even with significant less mechanical advantage meant he has insane strength to begin with. So it's invisible trump card that's hiding in plain sight. It's there the whole time, people just doesn't realize it. Making the reveal that much more impactful, a secret power hiding in plain sight. The sword just convert his strength into incredible speed.
The dust sword thrust sort of pull a des ex machina feel to it with no build up to it. Hidden power in plain sight is more interesting imho.
