FYI: the clothing of Yelan and the background music are inspired from Shanghai in the 1930s featured by strong western influences. Elements like casino, jazz music, and spy wars were all symbols for this city in the special era. The umbrella scene at 0:16 is so typical in Chinese spy war TV dramas these days!

I went from being meh about her to wanting her signature weapon… I really didn’t need her since I use 1 pyro dps and 1 hydro dps so I thought Xingqiu was all I needed, but she’s so much stronger than I thought, and she’s so fun with her zoom skill too. When she reruns I’m definitely spending all my primos on her weapon

Yelan was never in my pull plans right from the get-go. Didnt bother reading up for mats, relevant info nor watching her trailers. But here I am now awestruck at her playstyle and seeing this trailer now truly made my indecision into a big W for my team comps.

For me it's awful. With each new character and trailer for it, it becomes more and more visible how outdated the graphics in this game are. In addition, in each trailer the same scenario. A bit of chatter, then the character kills some enemies, and in the end some more self-satisfied chatter.
The quality of these is getting better by each character release, I'm so so so excited for more!!!

Got her by luck in 14 wishes, after I lost my 50/50 to Qiqi, and sorta built her today and I gotta say, she's incredible. Her damage is great even with the Stringless I'm using. In fact she's so good that I'm feeling bad for not pulling for her bow, now I have to search what 5 star bow would be good for her 🗿

With her name card at the beginning, the jazz music, the dice on her animations, and the background when she's not going around strangling treasure hoarders. I'm getting the feeling that she's "the one in control/the one pulling the strings", with her burst and skill being, well, strings. Overall 10/10.

I’m so in love with Yelan. She has this Roaring 20’s vibe that I never thought we’d see until Fontaine and yet she’s still seems so futuristic. She almost feels out of place in Liyue, but it’s that uniqueness that attracts me even more. This demo just shot my dedication to pulling her through the roof.
She's very much Liyue, in the sense that her entire character is obviously designed with the early 20th century Shanghai vibe in mind. But you're right, she probably doesn't remind you of in-game Liyue.
you have to remember she travels all across teyvat.
based off the gambling motif, western clothes and the aesthetic of this trailer i'd say she's inspired by Macau, a gambling city in China that was once a portuguese colony.
Not so out of place if you consider how Shanghai was like back then.
