- 'God Came Down' is the amazing, oft times humorous and God glorifying history of the Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster.
From it's inception in 1951 to its globe spanning witness today, this documentary traces the birth, growth and expansion of a church which stands as a bulwark against ecclesiastical decline and counterfeit ecumenism.
The Free Presbyterian Church was born in adversity. In 1951, in Crossgar (County Down, NI), elders in the local Presbyterian Church wanted a young evangelist, Ian Paisley, to conduct a gospel mission in their church hall.
However, the church hierarchy forbad the use of the hall and suspended the elders. The mission went ahead in a different venue and many souls were brought to Christ.
When it was all over the problem of where to send these new converts arose. The only solution was to form a new denomination, Presbyterian, but free.
On St. Patrick's day, 17th March 1951, the Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster was constituted in Crossgar, in the same little hall where the mission had been held.
Lord Bannside, who as Dr. Ian R. K. Paisley was the church's leader and long time moderator says, "The young people of the church need to know their history. They need to learn the sacrifices that the founding fathers made, so that they can have the privileges they are enjoying today."

The united irishmen were founded by Northern Presbyterians. Not the same type as paisley though. Wolfe Tone. Henry Joy McCracken. William Orr. And many others 💚🇮🇪

Friend, God has promised to draw to close to those who will draw near to him, and I assure you that God is no liar, many Christians and the word of God can testify to that. With all due respect the problem is never with God but with ourselves, you need to first draw near to him and then he'll draw near you.

Paisley was full of hate. His whole faith was based on hatred of the pope and the Roman catholic religion rather than the loving of Jesus. His love of the monarchy was also evident which I find flawed for a Pastor who mixed politics with faith.

I am disabled and in great pain everyday after having spent my life helping and caring for others. The only help I get now is from kind selfless none religious people who give their time and love to help me get through my day. As for blessings and prayer, those people I mentioned have shown more love and care than your so called magic man in the clouds. If people could spend more time helping others instead of praying in the hope that there is life after death, and this guy would go easy them ( pure fear). So sad to see so many people in the world throwing away their only life, and not using it for the good of others. RELIGION IS A BALL AND CHAIN AROUND THE NECK OF HUMANITY. What sort of being creates creatures in order they should worship him, I call that Narsasist.

But, if you're not, what you've said is ironic. God calls people to help and care for others. Yet, when you get help, you do not consider that God is He who has pumped up that idea of care which even irreligious benefit from. Do you know the hearts of the people who care about you? Because clearly you do not know the heart of God. If God is all powerful and desires a relationship with us, why would prayer be useless? Do you deny God's existence or do you mistake injustice and evil for good? Also, I like how you know what's best in all situations and clearly know more than an all powerful and all knowing God. That's definitely not narcissism. What do you worship? The state that seizes the labour of others to provide for you protection, peace, and livelihood? Do you worship yourself? I think I'll worship the God who gave me life, who protects me, who gives me peace, who provides all my needs, and who asks me to live in goodness and righteousness glorifying Him with my life every day.
