    The fact it's all in pieces and many things can be replaced without the whole board I would give a good 5 or 6, just because it's complicated just means you have to be careful.
    The whole time I was thinking where can I shove a head phone jack or a note pen.
    Still thinking. 🤔

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      True but complication is where most of the time a repair job can go downhill since the more complicated it is, the more of a chance people can damage something or not be able to do it themselves. Usually people look at the repairability scores to see if its easy to be able to repair the device themselves if needed rather than how many parts are replaceable. But yep again depends on each persons view.

      Yeah, the wifi/bluetooth module/chip is soldered to the main board. If that is the problem, it would require soldering knowledge to replace. Chris S / No, because the camera software optimizer is written specifically for that kind of camera with its own pixel logistic arrangement.
      Only a very high knowledgeable specialist can do the change where it should also change the specific camera software.
      Since you can very well use the advanced outer camera for selfies, you don't absolutely need to "modify" ( which is very expensive ) the less quality interior screen one.
      And the interior camera will get software improvements in time from Samsung, that will give it better and better visual qualities.

    Alot of people are wondering if the Dual and eSIM disabled US version internally actually has the dual sim reader hardware? People are hoping they could just buy a dual sim tray and flash European firmware to get dual sim working can you possibly confirm this info please ?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, I didnt pay too close attention to that during the teardown but looking at the video the sim reader looks to be a dual sim reader on this US version I took apart. Its the same type of sim reader like the ones in the S21 series which were dual but the additional sim reader pins on the opposite side were disabled from software. Its still possible that on this phone it may not be disabled and using a dual sim tray may work without software change but most likely you will also need to flash a dual sim enabled software to the phone as well.

    Any suggestions in cleaning the hinges? Theres super fine sand grains stuck inside the hinges preventing the phone to fold out fully

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      hmm not sure, you can use a soft brush like tooth brush or something but if its in areas you can't get too, you would probably have to take the entire thing apart to get to the hinges which also poses a chance of damaging or braking the folding screen when prying it off. Also when putting the screen back on, you would need to re install the original adhesive cutouts made for it, to keep it in place so when folding it doesn't crack down the middle.

    when you tear it down like this does affect the nanocoating that goes on the components to keep it water resistant?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      no but it does affect the water resistant adhesive seal, so you would need to re apply original pre cut adhesive for the phone (when available) to ensure a water resistant seal.

    Hi. Thanks for this very detailed teardown video. One question though. I found a video explaining to be careful in using cases with adhesives, particularly on the 5g antenna cover located on the rear side near the main cameras (in this video; time stamp 6:30)
    But based on the unboxing of other youtubers, their model doesn't have that cover despite being 5G. If this cover is missing, does that mean 5G reception is weaker on models without that plastic cover?
    Thanks.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, im not sure what plastic cover you mean. If you are referring to the mmWave 5G antenna itself, not every model will have the mmWave 5G. There are different 5G networks, most use sub 6Ghz 5G which does not use the mmWave 5G antenna so it wont have it. Still has 5G just a different technology 5G antenna. Hope this explains it.

  • @travisgregar8612

    How long did you let the IPA soak on the adhesive before removing the battery?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Usually 30 seconds to a minute. Then you can try prying it off from one side and if it's still too difficult you can add a few more drops and let it get under the battery and wait another 10-15 seconds and start prying it off again.

    I had the exactly the same phone and it died after 1 year of use. I don't recommend buying this phone or similar phones from Samsung. It costs a fortune if things go wrong. Only replacing the screens would cost you 4 to 5 hundred bucks. To be honest, I hardly used the the bigger screen and the small screen is smaller than most phone and I used the small screen daily.
